Moving in with BF at 65

Hello over 60 sisters!

Like the title says, I'm soon going to be moving in with my boyfriend that I've been seeing for 4 years. We live an hour and a half apart so our relationship has been primarily a weekend one, plus four week long vacations together.

I've been living alone for the past 7 years and I honestly love it but I love my guy even more. It's time for us to be together full time since we want to eventually buy a house together and spend the rest of our lives together- me at 65 and him at 69- it's not like we're spring chickens contemplating a 50-year marriage. Lol.

I have some anxiety about moving in with him just because... I don't know. I overthink things now that I'm older. When I was younger, I would just be excited versus anxious. I currently live in a very tiny one bedroom apartment and he lives in a two bedroom plus office townhouse that is fairly small, about 1200 square feet.

Have any of you made this kind of leap at a later age? I am absolutely certain this is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. In the near future we want to buy a house out west together. But in the meantime I will be moving in with him.

What were your experiences and do you have any suggestions for me? We've talked about the small space and how my stuff isn't really going to fit except in the one spare bedroom he's cleaning out. I'm okay with that for now since we plan on buying a (larger) house together by next spring. One thing I told him is that both of us are going to need some alone time now and again. I plan on setting up my bed in the spare bedroom so I can retreat when I need quiet time. He gets that. He's never been married but has had girlfriends live with him in the past. The last one was nearly 10 years ago.

ETA: thank you all for so many thoughtful responses! I appreciate all of them, even the ones who said "Don't do it!" My original post was more about suggestions and experiences of others who have moved in with their significant other. Thank you to those who have shared their experiences!

I don't take this move lightly and have gone over things in my head and with him a million times. I loved living alone since that was a luxury after raising my kids. But when I was ready, I was intentional in looking for a new partner. I want love, companionship, intimacy - all of that. I feel lucky to have found all of that with him.

I'm hopeful we will work out. I expect us to, but I'm nothing if not pragmatic. We might not. I'm not stranded if we break up. I have enough savings to get me set up in a tiny place in the region I want to move to.

I'm taking a leap of faith. I want a life with this man. Again thanks to everyone who took the time to respond.

Wonderful listening experience!!

Just want to give thanks to the many people who suggested the audiobook, We Are Legion (We Are Bob).

I'm just a third of the way in but I'm enjoying it so, so much! I don't know that I would have discovered this book(s) on my own.

I loved The Martian and of course Project Hail Mary. I really enjoy that combination of humor and hard science in a science fiction book. And I can't say enough about how wonderful Ray Porter is as the narrator!

With such a wonderful narrator like Ray Porter, I can't imagine just reading the words of a book like the Bobiverse saga. Sometimes listening just brings a whole new level of enjoyment to an already enjoyable story.

Some time ago I read the book, Seven Eves, and I really enjoyed it. Had me thinking for a long time afterwards. I'm thinking about listening to the audio version. It didn't have the humor that the other three books I mentioned have but it was a very intriguing read for anyone that loves books about space exploration.

My wedding wish

So this post might get banished by the mods, but I have a dream. When / if I get married again, it will be a small affair but I will put in my invitations, wear whatever you're comfortable in. I don't care if it's jeans, I don't care if it's a sack. If you're comfortable, that's all I care about because I JUST WANT YOU THERE with me and my fiance.

This might happen or not. I've already been married two times (no judgment please). I said I would never marry again but my fiance would like at least a small ceremony to show our commitment to each other and share our happiness with people we love.

That's all. I get so frustrated with these bridezillas who demand their guests where a certain type of color or formal attire they will never wear again and won't be comfortable in. And even worse, it puts a financial burden on people, so much so that they might not even go to a wedding if they have to buy expensive new clothing. I just don't get it. But then again I'm 65 so I'm beyond all that bullshit. Lol.

But even in my first marriage at 25, which was a more traditional wedding and reception- but done on the cheap, I would never have dreamt of telling people what to wear! I just wanted my friends and loved ones to be there!

I wish that could be more normalized these days. And I also can't fathom the kind of money that's spent on weddings. But everyone needs to do what they need to do for themselves. However, when it comes to telling your guests what to wear- I draw the line and call bullshit.

Brides to be- please please don't be like that. Your loved ones and friends will thank you. And will be happy to be there l, especially if they don't have to buy a bunch of ridiculous clothing.

Wealthfront changed?

Does anyone know why Wealthfront suddenly added another party into the mix in order to transfer funds from WF to my other bank I use for checking?

I just did all the linking not even a year ago when I first made a large deposit into WF HYSA.

Now WF is wanting me to do this whole process again with some outside service called Plaid. I'm uncomfortable doing this process again with an outside service.

Anyone know more about Plaid?

When I'm listening to an audiobook I resonate with, that moves and engages me, I sometimes find myself crying after the last lines are spoken.

I don't really know why. Maybe my tears are a combination of sadness- that the book is over and there's that little niggling fear I won't find anything better (but I always do- or at least as good).

But also, my tears are an expression of gratitude to the author and the voice actors. An acknowledgment and appreciation to the people who created an experience that moved me so very much. Sometimes words can't convey enough- so we have tears.

Anyone else feel this way when finishing a book?
