Considered a Cathedral, but with later Strong Castle Additions, served as.the seat of the Kings of Munster
One of the most famous Castles in Ireland, Blarney is most known for the stone. Legend says if you kiss it, it will grant you luck and the 'gift of the gab' - the ability to influence others with your words, and get the desired result.
The castle itself is fairly typical of a square tower with newer range that has since burned down.
These bikes have done the WAW for the past 3 days and it's handled every corner, incline, hill, mountain, pass, glen, fjord and bog!
Plus it's comfy! Just Healy Pass to go!
Built by the O'Connors in 1490 to guard and control trade up and down the Shannon Estuary, I don't see too many Irish Castles so thought this little known one would be cool.
Blown to pieces in the Elizabethan Second Desmond Rebellion Rebellion. Leading to the swift adoption of guerilla warfare across the region.
Loving these tiny mushroom lights from B&Q, UK. They add a nice, but not overpowering dimension to the pond ☺️
I added my Frogilo, but can't afford to make a real stream just now so have tried to break up the space with a dry stream bed. £14.00 well spent, I think.
Dug this into my green space/ wildlife patch near my tiny pond today. Delighted with it!
This area just a month or two ago was AstroTurf, I'm trying to create a wildlife area...with a very shallow wildlife pond. It's only 20-30cm at the very base and has pea gravel, clay and aquatic compost. Looks a bit murky as it's been disturbed.
Planting includes - dwarf iris, bog pimpernel, Water forget me knot, Sedge, Creeping Jenny, dwarf lily, milfoil and hornwort, water mint and a very tiny bit of frogbit. Surrounding planting is self heal, clover, alpine strawberry and dog friendly wildflowers.
Small solar pump to finish it off, stones are salvaged from what I have dug up plus the quartz. So far we have some pond snails and some mosquito larvae...can't wait to see what moved in.
So I have this small patch - 3m x 1m. I took out the AstroTurf to return it to nature, but with a dog I have deliberately chosen plant species that pose no risk.
I sowed self heal, clover and wildflowers. But because I put up bird feeders I also attracted pigeons that decimated anything, including the new shoots that were starting to germinate.
So last resort, I've resowed the patchy areas and covered the whole area in very fine netting to prevent birds from accessing the area before it's established. They even attacked the meadowsweet!
It should also help the campanula and hardy geraniums to establish.
So I've wanted an EV for a few years but never been in the position to afford one...until now.
Bought my MG ZS (Long Range SE) for less than 13k, 2 years free servicing and MOT, 92% battery health. 22k plate with 40k miles.
I know MG get a lot of stick but I need a high mileage range, for me my car is a tool and this ticks my boxes for commuting everyday and has the gadgets to make that commute pleasant. Plus remote heating for winter.
Bearing in mind I traded in a 24 plate MG3+ hybrid, I am set to save over £12k on fuel alone over 5 years so over £2k per year, with insurance premiums, my negative equity, gap insurance I still net over £1k per year!
Took me ages to decide on a watch, I wanted a field watch aesthetic but combined with a multi dial look. This watch struck the right balance.
It's a bit chunkier at 42mm and 12mm thick but I think it looks great!
Only had this terrarium about 5 weeks, it might not be the best set up but woke up and saw this beautiful little flower.
Terrarium is open but misted twice daily.
