Finally set up my 10" rack!

Petg was a b*tch to print with! It took my friend and I a couple months to print decent enough parts to put together a simple LabRax 10" minirack. But I'm glad I finally got it together! Xfinity sent me a free upgraded modem with 10G ports, and it was so easy to swap cables and add in a new 2.5G switch with everything already in one place. Although I wish we had printed more shelves!

My homelab is a Lattepanda Delta running a Samba share and Wireguard, Lattepanda Iota running a Nextcloud server with a Terramaster 2 slot DAS for storage, as well as 1G and 2.5G Ethernet switches. The new Steam pyrowave codec on the experimental build makes in-home gamestreaming look FANTASTIC over 2.5G lan with an upgraded nic on my HTPC.

This is all set up in the livingroom right next to my tv stand btw

PCartLoader - A Companion App for running PCarts on Linux

I've just (re)released a graphical application for managing and launching PCarts. The application is based on the Qt toolkit. It runs in the background and appears in your system tray as an icon you can right-click to access settings and options.

You can create/edit cartridge config files, define custom app settings, and access a list of attached cartridges. Cartridges are automatically launched when attached by default, but this can be disabled.

Picotron running on Open-Source Cartridge

Hello, everyone. I designed an open-source PC cartridge system for making your software experience more fun and physical https://github.com/carlgoshert/PC_Cartridge_System
It's essentially just an SD card reader where the microSD cards are on the cartridges. It's compatible with all operating systems and you can use them just like any USB flash drive.

Here I have a Picotron cartridge running in the Kazeta Linux operating system.

PC Cartridge System for RetroPie

Hello, everybody! I just released an open-source cartridge system for PC and wanted to show it loading roms on RetroPie! The cartridge system is essentially an over-sized SD card reader since the PC cartridges ("PCarts") hold microSD cards on them. The entire system is complete and free for all use, check the github if you are interested.

PCarts - Open Hardware for PC Cartridges

After about a year of having this idea and putting it off, then spending a couple months learning basic hardware engineering to actual make this, I'm proud to share my first PCBs with everyone.

This PC cartridge system is basically just an ordinary SD card reader in the shape of retro videogame cartridges. The cartridge holds a microSD card, and the USB peripheral reads it. It supports up to SDXC UHS-I Class 10 microSD cards at USB 2.0 read/write speeds. Not as good as an external SSD, but good enough for some smaller offline games, videos, applications, etc.

pcb and stl files included in repo

Kodi in Big Picture Mode?

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue before for their Bazzite HTPC. In desktop mode, the Kodi flatpak works flawlessy. But I decided to add it to Steam as a "non-steam game" so I could launch it in Big Picture Mode since that's what my htpc boots into. However, whenever I try to watch any video after starting Kodi in BPM, the video will freeze after about 10-60 seconds of playback. I still get audio, just frozen video. And again, I don't have this problem at all in desktop mode.

I've already tried turning off the Steam Overlay. I'm curious if anyone else has gotten this to work with some specific Steam setting or launch options.

Thanks!

PIA VPN on Bazzite !!!

Good morning, all!

I just want to give a quick shoutout to a great utility I found on github that repackages the Private Internet Access installer for Bazzite Linux (https://github.com/maxpoulin64/bazzite-pia) . As a desktop Bazzite user who bought into PIA back when I was on another distro, its been so annoying to have to use OpenVPN scripts to use PIA to protect anything other than my web browser traffic. But this tool brings the Ubuntu desktop application into Bazzite for easy whole-computer tunneling.

Maxpoulin64 has done a great job on this. It's easy to install with a single terminal command, which is great for any handheld gamers or anyone else that isn't super comfortable with the command-line terminal. This is way easier than setting up OpenVPN scripts or setting up Tailscale.

The only downside is that it seems it does rely on X11, which could be going out the door soon on Plasma.
