Charmed him like a rattlesnake. Came out of his lair

My son and I love playing music for raiders and seeing their reactions 😂.

“So…what do you wanna do now?”

No other game in my life has ever began each match with this phrase. At the beginning of each raid my son and I constantly ask each “so what are we doing now?”

For me, it’s a good thing. It means there’s so many ways to play this game. Trials and projects, bench upgrades, resources for crafting, boss takedowns (queen matriarch), location variants, PvP fully kitted or free kitted, God forbid rat some people, just acting silly talking to randoms, go in naked and see if we can survive and gather some goop, try riding arc, try enjoying the scenery, etc

It was just a moment I had earlier today when my son said “so what are we doing?” Lol. Made me think about all this.

Happy raids!

Helping a tm8 who’s unaware they need help

The rare instances when me and a random peak, we are usually reading each other super well, covering each other’s mistakes, and helping each other when we’re low on boost.

This seems like the best way to play.

But sometimes I get a tm8 who’s not bad, but seems to have zero awareness of me trying to help him out.

They will often aerial the ball across the field sideways, run out of boost and land right next to the opponent giving them a free pop up headed back my way.

So what I do is anticipate it, and use it almost like a pass to me and hit it before the opponents can. Works well often and most tm8’s really appreciate it. Some tm8’s even expect it, like they were intentionally passing it to me.

Other times my tm8 is on the ball but has zero boost. So I come in and take over and allow them to get some boost. Most of the time they really appreciate it. I love it when my tm8’s do that for me as well but I often spam “need boost” so they’re aware of my situation.

A small percentage of players instantly rage if I touch the ball anywhere near their vicinity. “I was on the ball!”

Bro I can’t just sit back and see you constantly fail aerials or push the ball too far ahead of you with no boost and give the opposing team a free pop up towards our goal. Then I get blamed for not hitting a miracle save

If my tm8 has good boost management, and has good passes and can beat at least one opponent often, I don’t rush in, instead I wait for their play to develop. But some people I just can’t trust any of their touches or decisions, which is fine as long as they’re ok with me helping out.

Do these kind of tm8’s just expect to take turns going 1v2? I find myself instantly quitting if they start spamming quick chats at me. Can’t play with people like that. Most of the time I have quick chat off and only turn it on when I get a tm8 I’m vibing well with. But sometimes I forget to turn it back off then this shit happens.

Just had to vent.

TL:DR

Do you appreciate when a teammate helps you out when you’re low on boost, or mess up an aerial? Or should your teammate just sit back and let the chips fall where they may? Of course, everything within reason, and not rushing across the entire field to help you when you’re low on boost.

Did the spin on the ball cause this to come out?

Other than the spin on the ball, I see no way this should have bounced back out.

“There’s nothing left to do”

My main game is Rocket League. I play matches over and over for years. One can argue “there’s nothing left to do” in that game as well. Except improve your skill. I enjoy it. Same goes for a game like call of duty multiplayer. Yes sometimes I get bored (or tilted), take a few weeks off then come back to it.

Why do people feel like ARC raiders needs to have some “end game” or some other reason other than it just being fun to play? Yeah, I wouldn’t mind more content and updates, but the overall gameplay and game modes I think are fine.

What’s the main difference between games who go into matches and do the same shit over and over (like RL and COD) and this game? I really enjoy PvE’ing with the risk of people hunting me down. I also enjoy occasionally PvP’ing.

What’s the problem?

UPDATE:

This is what I replied below somewhere and I think I understand different perspectives better now:

“Because it was built as, advertised as, and sold to people as a live-service game with a “10 year content plan”.”

I didn’t know this. Thanks for the insight. I’m 40 years old and just saw clips of a game that looked interesting so I bought it. lol. That was my introduction to the game.

I honestly haven’t even looked up what “live service” means, but I can assume it’s a game that has very frequent updates.

So in that case, yes I can now understand why people might feel disappointed with the “slow” pace of additional content.

Coming from a childhood where there were NO updates at all to video games 😂 the pace at which Embark is making changes to the game seems perfectly fine to me lol.

I bought the game for a fun “gameplay loop” and I feel like it surpassed my expectations. But nowadays gaming has changed and for some people it’s not enough. They need “progression”. Not a knock, I’m just simply observing this.

Thanks for the insights, guys. This exactly what I wanted to know. Different perspectives explained. I love Reddit for this.

What cam do most people use for a flip reset?

I’m trying to learn them now and I’m able to get the reset a lot easier with car cam. Is this something I should focus on or should I focus on keeping ball cam on?

UPDATE: after reading a few comments, ball cam it is

How do I adjust to tm8s who shadow too much?

Sometimes I get days where many of my teammates ball chase or don’t rotate right or whiff constantly etc. but today I experienced a lot of my teammates shadowing the ball excessively.

I’ve had teammates in the past that shadow very well. On the ground, backboard, air etc. they can turn the ball around and start heading to the other goal. but it’s rare. Today had me struggling to find ways to adapt teammates who are below average excessive shadowers.

They wait waaaaay too long to challenge, often leading to a 50 right in front of the goal leaving the ball going random unpredictable directions or stalling in front of our goal for an easy shot. Or just whiffing off the backboard. Or getting bad air touches.

I try to rotate back post but what’s the back post when they’re shadowing? If I’m behind their car, they often try a risky 50 or save right at goal making any play hard to read so close to goal. If I’m at the traditional back post (post opposite of side where ball is) they often confuse me because now we are face to face headed towards each other and drive me crazy not knowing if they’ll challenge soon or not.

Sometimes even when I pass it to them, they start shadowing instead of going for the shot 😂

Are there some known strategies people use when playing with teammates like these?
