Advice - Areas to Live - West Long Beach

Hi all 👋

This is kind of a follow-up to my last post about apartments in LB and another post about areas to consider for living.

We have checked out a lot of areas previously suggested by you all on our last visit however these were mainly central and Eastern. We shortlisted a few: Rose Park
Bixby Knolls
Zaferia
Heartwell Park
California Heights
Lakewood
Belmont Shores & Heights

We wondered if there were any areas you could recommend for us to check out that are West of central - Towards Rancho Palos Verdes, Torrance, Redondo?

We’d be looking to keep commute time to around 30mins max give or take and this would be to the South end of LGB Airport.

We are a family of 3 and have a dog. Like cafe culture, beach and independent stores. We have zero local knowledge so any tips and suggestions would be awesome as we are planning a return trip and would love some other places to view/explore.

Thanks again to this awesome community!

Ketone Levels Question

Hi everyone.

I’m a few months into my Keto journey. I am male 59yrs old. I have been using the urine strips to measure (roughly) my ketone levels and check that I am in Ketosis. At first, after the first few days, I was showing a dark/high level of ketones.

Recently the color has been very light. My diet has been much the same but the strips are showing a very mild (at best) level. Is this normal for someone 3 months in or do I need to review my diet?

Thank for reading and any advice!

Long Beach Apartment Complexes Advice

Hello all

We will be moving to Long Beach for work at the end of August.

We are a family of 3 plus a dog and are looking into apartments. After posting here for location advice we have narrowed our search to the following areas.

Bixby Knolls, Heartwell Park, California Heights and an area East of Retro Row, possibly Bluff Park.

After driving around today we saw some apartment complexes but they all looked a bit run down.

Does anyone have any recommendations of nice, well managed apartment complexes with good amenities, pool, gym etc.

Thank you in advance.

Area Advice

We are moving to Long Beach. We have been living in NorCal for 4 years and know nothing about the LB area so looking for some advice on nice areas to look for renting.

I will be working close to LGB airport and ideally want to be commuting less than 30 mins drive. Looking for cool, interesting areas, ideally somewhere with modern coffee shops, downtown and high walkable score and if we can, easy access/close(ish) to a beach. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks 🙏

Sony ES / vintage hifi enthusiasts

To anyone who likes the 80s/90s Sony ES systems and lives in the Bay Area or can travel I am about to part with my beloved system. It’s taken me years of careful research and tracking down to get these components. Only sourcing from collectors that enthused about them in the way I do.

Please reach out if tempted - I will be listing with breakdown prices soon.
