I Finished!

I Finished!

I found a study a while back about how Victoria’s Secret Bombshell was proven to repel bugs in a study scientific study. I decided to see if it worked for me, so I bought a small 10mL while VS was having a sale. It’s just a travel size but I’ve gone through this whole bottle and it’s one less in my collection.

Ellis Brooklyn Unboxing

Turn the sound on if you don’t mind ASMR. Mute it if not. This is my first ever unboxing video, and it shows. It was hard to do one-handed.

I ordered Vanilla Rice when Ellis Brooklyn had a sale about a week or so ago. The notes say it opens with mandarin, freesia dew and toasted rice. Heart notes are Sakura blossom, coconut milk and jasmine nectar, and settles on a base of skin musks, tonka bean and vanilla.

I also picked up Sun Fruit (a solar fig), and Myth (a floral with patchouli). I keep saying I don’t love jasmine, but I somehow keep choosing perfumes with jasmine in them. All three have jasmine in the notes! Go figure!

Will post mini reviews in SOTD when I get to wearing these. I can’t wait!

Mooncat DD

I happened to be wearing Mooncat Banquet of Breadcrumbs when I went to take a look at their DD. I’m surprised this was in there. I love this spring green!

Products used: Mooncat Hardcore Base Coat, Mooncat Banquet of Breadcrumbs x2, Mooncat Foxfire x1, Orly Sec n Dry

‘Murca is 250 years old!

I really wanted to keep MAGA from appropriating the red, white and blue, but I hated how this looked together. I decided the blue wasn’t blue enough, and I ended up with flaky algae.

Products used for pics 1 & 2: Mooncat Hardcore Base Coat, Mooncat Midnight Rider x2 (thumb), Mooncat Pandemonium x2 (ring and index fingers), Lurid Lacquer Fuck Fascism x2 (pinky and middle fingers), Orly Sec n Dry (background is my Hamilton t-shirt)

Products used for pics 3 & 4: Mooncat Hardcore Base Coat, Emily de Molly No Way Back x2, Mooncat The Sea Between Us x1, Lurid Lacquer Fuck Fascism x2 (accents), Orly Sec n Dry

I couldn’t find my Mooncat Maelstrom, so I layered one coat of The Sea Between Us on top of two coats of No Way Back. It turned out nearly identical.

I’m So Embarrassed (Not Man-related)

Grilled chicken lettuce wraps with quinoa and a spicy peanut sauce

I was out to lunch with my family today and went to use the restroom while my husband settled our tab. As I was washing my hands, the woman in the other stall came out and said, “Excuse me. Your dress is tucked into your underpants.” 🤭

I was mortified. Also, I hope we can all be that woman.

[ISO][US] ILNP Electric Carnival

This ad came up in my Insta but I got a 404 error when I tapped on their link. I’m pretty sure this is discontinued. I’d love to add this to my collection!

Edit: I have Mooncat Dragon Scales, which I didn’t realize is very similar. I don’t need this anymore. Thanks!

Why the Perfumer Matters

A lot of people focus on niche or designer, or which house made which perfume. Different houses hire different perfumers, and certain perfumers definitely have a signature style.

I posted in the SOTD thread about my experience with Ellis Brooklyn Isla Sirena. It’s far sweeter and less nuanced than my other Ellis Brooklyn perfumes. I finally looked up who created this, and it’s Gabriela Chelariu. She is best known for her Kayali perfumes. The screen shot is her most popular frags according to Parfumo. Had I known this, I would’ve had different expectations for Isla Sirena.

Who are your favorite perfumers and what do you love about their work?

I don’t know what to wear! Help, please!

We’re going to my kid’s best friend’s dance recital (she calls me Other Mother). It’s going to be hot out. I want to smell nice but can’t decide.

These are what I’ve been wearing recently. Valaya Wxclusif and Dama Bianca are too warm for the weather, so I’m not considering them. I also have Naxos, Miss Dior Parfum, and Ellis Brooklyn Miami Nectar. Please help me choose!

Wow!!!

This is my first Clionadh experience, and while my application is less than ideal, the quality of this polish lives up to the hype. My pinky looks like velvet but it’s a cat eye that spread. I really want to see what this looks like in velvet and glass bead!

Products used: Mooncat Hardcore Basecoat, Clionadh Toxic Sludge x2 (cat eye magnetized using a neodymium bar), Orly Sec n Dry

The One That Got Away

Every once in a while, I think of Bvlgari Omnia. It was warm, spicy and complex. My bottle was lost in a move and I wish I’d been more careful with it. There’s nothing like it, and I wish I could get my hands on it.

Is there a perfume you wish you’d bought that is now unavailable? Not reformulated perfumes, but ones that really don’t exist anymore.

They Came!!!

These are definitely more floral than I would normally gravitate towards, but I’m so excited for them!

I got Xerjoff Dama Bianca, Frédéric Malle En Passant, Parfums de Marky Valaya Exclusif and Dyptique Eau Des Sens EDT.

I think maybe En Passant or Eau Des Sens today. I’m not sure.

Baby’s First Clionadh

I’m not sure I used the right flair for this but I finally placed my first Clionadh order! I waited over a year to place my order because of the tariffs. Now they’re on their way, and I’m so excited to get these!

This ad keeps popping up in my socials. I have no idea what the scent notes are but I want to buy a bottle just for the name.

What perfume did you buy for the name and what was the outcome? Love or hate?

I’ve had this on my wishlist for a while now. I see that I can get 30mL for $32 USD. I have really loved most of what I’ve gotten from Guerlain, and this sounds so beautiful.

I said in my last post that I’m not a big proponent of blind buying but this price seems ridiculously low for Guerlain. Have you tried this or own it? What do you think?

u/AgileMastodon0909 — 4 months ago

I just saw I can get 30mL of this for $35 USD, which is pretty inexpensive. I’m not a big proponent of blind buying, and honestly, 30mL is plenty for me but the description sounds so good!

Do you have this? What do you think?

I love how sparkly and beautiful this layering job turned out! I used one coat of each: Mooncat Hard Core Bade Coat, Mooncat Midnight Drive, ILNP Fairy Dust, Orly Sec n Dry. First pic is office lighting, second pic is indirect sunlight.

I no longer support Mooncat or Orly but I am working through what I have.
