A word on Nissan quality (from a Nissan guy)

I’m on my 2nd Nissan, have worked in a US Nissan plant so I can believe the 90 day initial quality award stuff. That said, there is a noticeable downgrade in quality it feels like. Better than GM, better than some of the other Japanese brands. On my 2nd Murano, just some observations from having since new to almost 14k now:

- In the heat, you hear subtle popping coming from different trim areas as if the clips holding in trim pieces are expanding or coming loose. Heard it today in areas of the headliner and A Pillar

- The shell for the dashboard instrument panel creaks when lightly pressed on.

- Small deformity in the tailgate seal, occasionally you can hear a creak adjusting the drivers side window from the door weatherstripping

- Windshield wiper has come up too high when off even after a warranty fix. More body frame on the passenger side is less covered by the cowl than the drivers side

- Grabrails click when pulled on amongst other things…

Part of me wishes to believe it didn’t leave the TN factory that way. The parts where the seatbelt latches in still have Velcro on them from the original packaging upon assembly. Maybe it was on a Friday, during 5th quarter, on night shift my Murano was built so VQ was half awake when it rolled off the line for testing.

I still will recommend Nissan over Toyota or Honda (given the increase in recalls for the latter two), it feels overall build quality has fallen. Cool but odd bit is how the wheels still have the production sequence numbers written on them, I didn’t notice this until rotations began being done.

Whether or not to pursue former employer for not withholding?

Needing fair input here for, quite frankly a tax situation I never dealt with before. A former employer (well known temp agency) failed to withhold tax for 2025, a few months ago I received a letter from the IRS stating I owed $1300 due to said former employers failure to withhold. Further investigation revealed said employer didn’t verify info on W-4 before sending to IRS, but said nothing.

Their tax compliance dept has said they are free of wrongdoing, but I‘m calling that BS if so much tax was not withheld. Yes, I filed an extension to pay the IRS by December which will be closer to $1600. Since this debt is largely the screwup of the employer, I’ve considered pursuing them to pony up at least half of what is owed in back taxes, and creating undue financial hardship.

How can this be pursued on the tax end of things?

Help with sleep while on trip

Looking to get some insight on a road trip I am going on tomorrow, and a pinch I am in. Ever since I had Covid a 2nd time, I cannot fall asleep unassisted unless I'm about to pass out. The prescription sleep med I take will run out halfway through this trip to the Smokies, and cannot be refilled until after I am back. I try to work with the extra strength melatonin 10mgs, but the quality of sleep plummets (I'm asleep but can still hear my fan, so it's not deep REM sleep).

On top of that, it's a 6 hr road trip one way. Any help or tips are appreciated, thanks.

Needing diaper suggestions for upcoming trip (urinary IC)

I have a vacation coming up, and need suggestions as to diapers that will work for long distance hiking as well as long road trips (I don't stop except for gas). My long planned hikes have been disrupted by having to turn back since I haven't been able to trust what I'm wearing could work for small releases of relief to complete the hike, and due to the fact I do use a good amount of caffeine on long drives during the day, my concern is leaking on car seats. My long standing issue with most adult diapers is their bulkiness and can easily be detectable. I'm consistently leaking urine as well.

The hikes I tend to aim for on vacation are foresty and run the tendency of not having restrooms for miles once you leave the trailhead. And I take at least 3 1 liter bottles of water and/or sports drinks especially during this time of year. Thanks.
