Title says it all. How do you all feel about this? I am much cheaper than ADP and could do payroll with my eyes closed. However for this entity I think the beneift is to lesson liability? Thoughts please. Does ANYONE EVER do their own payroll these days? Thanks!
I feel like maybe sharing this will cheapen it somehow but I would like opinions, am asking for them for once. It is a long story but I will try to abbreviate. When I was little I had an elderly woman and man from the church who kept me a lot while my mom worked. They were salt of the earth and I loved them so much that I named my daughter after the woman. Even in her 70s and 80s she was heartbreakingly beautiful and kind and I cannot forget every little detail of when i was like 3 or 4 years old with her. Anyways both passed away over 30 years ago. The woman had one son left and left everything to him when she passed. He passed several days later so there was just her house sitting there being luted until a guy stepped in and started paying the taxes and just kept it. Oddly enough the guy was a friend of my dad's at the time. Fast forward 30 years. This guy that moved into the house called my dad, while I was sitting there. I am not at my parents' place a lot because we live in different places. But he said it was a weird question. I am not sure how he even got dad's number. He wanted to know about the couple who had lived there as he had a small child grandson who sometimes randomly claims he had another life in which he doesn't know much but that his last name was Wynn. That was their last name. Now, I asked a little tool that we humans use now and I'm not supposed to say it usually so I won't but the tool told me that children say things and we fill in the blanks and that it was not supernatural or anything special. Bullshit. The child had not visited the house and did not know anything about these people. Some believe in coincidence and some do not. I do not. I believe coincidence is just something we glimpse sometimes of a greater web of existence we are unaware of. What do you all think? I know there are many stories of children pointing to past lives that they forget as they grow. I don't buy that the adults are just making up what they want. I don't think it's necessarily reincarnation but it's something. Thanks for reading if you did.
There was one of those historical Texas plaques there as well but I thought the grave should be the focus. I guess it's a pretty famous case.
Hi, I hope this is the correct forum for this type of question. I inherited client's bookkeeping and federal/state tax prep about a year ago. Realized recently (very low billable hours, light work until now) that the bank account had not been reconciled since 12/31/23. So I asked for bank access or statements to reconcile, and although it was weird and he fedexed bank statements from 2024 to me but gave me online access to 2025, I did not catch nor did he mention that the account had closed and reopened under a new account in the meantime. Sorry, forgot to say that the bank feed also had not been active for over a year. When I relinked the account, and manually uploaded all the missing transactions from 2025 via the new pdf import function, I did not catch that it was a new account starting 1/1/25. So all the transactions for 2025 are pulled into the old account instead of the new. Surprised QBO did not catch this either being as it had the statements. I went ahead and fixed it from 1/1/26 forward, but I am reading that the only way I can reclass those transactions that had already been pulled in to old the new bank account but should be in the new one was one by one. I am either missing or do not have access to batch processing for this. Any suggestions? Not to mention the damn 'Opening Balance Equity' which I have always detested is there now. I need to start with a $0 balance for a new account as of 1/1/25 and what i have is opening balance equity of over $57k, still $66k showing in the old account (this is accurate), and etc etc blah blah blah wrong. So this is my workaround as we are in a hurry for k1s of course. I am going to debit the opening balance equity account and distribute to partners as a holding place, later getting exact information because I need 2025 reconciled last week. One partner did receive a large chunk of money at year end but I think it was out of the old account. Does anyone have any thoughts? Appreciate it in advance.
