Letterboxd is not just a reviewing app.

Okay this is probably gonna get downvoted to hell but i just want to put something out there.
There are lots of people talking about how letterboxds top reviews are just goofy one liners and i agree, that is a problem but there are also people talking about how if you have nothing to say about a movie that you shouldn’t say anything.

But what’s often forgotten is that letterboxd is also at its forefront a social app. It’s an app where you can share your opinions on a movie with friends- in a way where you write paragraphs about it or in a way where you only need to write a few words.

Are many top letterboxd reviews just the same thing? Yes. and there should be a way to filter it for if you only want real reviews , but to say that all short reviews are ruining letterboxd is completely ruining the appeal of the app. If you want pure reviews you can use imdb, because for many people letterboxd is used to jot down thoughts they have after watching a movie.

I actually loved supergirl

I can’t believe I cried in Supergirl of all movies. I blame Milly Alcock. I get your complaints and no it’s not perfect and polished in a way movies like Superman was but it clicks because the performances carry the energy of the messiness so damn hard. It’s one of those movies where if you hate it I completely get why but I’m on the latter half that shed a tear during that corny ass needle drop.

Part of the reason might be because I didn't read the comic, and my opinion probaably will change when I get around to doing so, but I loved supergirl. Milly Alcock and Jason Momoa might be some of the best comic book castings of all time and the cinematography was off the shits with this one.

Hot take- Legends of Tomorrow Season 7 is by FAR the best arrowverse season post crisis (and debatably post earth X)

(and in my personal opinion my favourite legends season)

how jumpscare heavy is the og trilogy?

i’m introducing some friends to the og trilogy this weekend and one of them really really hates jump scares. personally i don’t get jumpscared in the movies anymore probably because of how many times i’ve rewatched them, but for a newcomer how jumpscare heavy would the movies be considered?

Let’s settle this debate once and for all.

Let’s cut to the chase. Freddy vs Jason vs Ash. The Bastard Son of 1000 Maniacs versus The Crystal Lake Killer vs The Hero From the Skies. An ongoing debate that’s been going on for around twenty years by now. In the comments i’ll put down each of these slashers names and you can upvote whichever you think wins. Whichever has the most upvotes is definitively (and definitely not objectively) the strongest out of the three.

Chainsaw and Boomstick Vs Finger Gloves Vs Machete

Is the ash side of evil dead a dead franchise?

Before you go downvoting please know that this isn’t meant to be negative or a jab at raimi or anyone like that. i am incredibly excited for evil dead burn, but i’ve been seeing a bit of a pattern recently. Evil dead the game isn’t on stores anymore, ash’s character in dbd is outdated and hadn’t been touched in ages and the animated show is probably cancelled, whilst on the film side evil dead is thriving acting as a gateway to new directors. it definitely feels like evil dead is no longer trying to be linear anymore for better or worse, but my main question is are we moving on from the ash universe as we haven’t gotten any new ash adjacent related content announced in years. obviously im not expecting bruce to reprise his role anytime soon due to his fight with cancer (get well soon king you got this) but characters from the tv show like pablo kelly and brandy have barely been referenced in any new evil dead media, so im left wondering if there’s any chance of seeing any sort of continuation surrounding the characters on ash’s side of the universe in any of the future movies, even if they were to just show up in the movies for a few minutes just as quick cameos and to aura farm.

again this isn’t me throwing shade at anyone it’s just me being curious

chances of getting an evil dead 2 extended cut?

evil dead 2 has some really great deleted scenes that never made it into the movie (eg. extended work shed and laughing scene, time travel sequences and just a few scenes to let the horror settle in) and with an extremely likely chance of a rerelease next years for its 40th anniversary, what do you think the odds of us getting an extended cut will be?
