What happened to the Alzuri Lounge, once heavily promoted as the first Black-owned lounge in Bangkok?

If my information is correct, they are already closed.

They even did not make 1 year open. It has to be something as 6 months.

Does someone know what happened? Closing after 6 months is very fast, even for Bangkok.

A question for digital nomads in Thailand: Will AI kill the digital nomad lifestyle? Do you think about a backup plan, leaving Thailand, or ...

When I think about a digital nomad in Thailand, I think about a person sitting in a cafe or on the beach, with a laptop.

In Thailand, or other ASEAN countries with cheap salaries, there's no shortage of fresh university graduates who can do basic programming and digital work.

They can already take over the basic jobs what you can do on a laptop.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think: Digital nomads do more complex jobs.

Butt, now that AI becomes better and better in more complex jobs, do you believe that AI will take over these complex jobs, what a digital nomad now can do on a laptop?

Do you already think about a backup plan? Will you leave Thailand?

Edit: Leaving Thailand with the idea, return to a traditional 9-to-5 programming job in Europe or the USA. Europe or USA, because of the much higher saleries as in Thailand.

Friendly request from a non-American: Please stop using abbreviations for hotel locations.

As a non-American, when there abbreviations in hotel locations, i have no idea what you are talking about.

This week for example:

  • Worst Experience EVER - Intercontinental MSP

  • Kimpton era again?!!! Geez

Maybe for an American you understand where MSP is, but here in Thailand, I have no idea. I need to use Google to find out it's InterContinental Minneapolis – St. Paul Airport (MSP)

For Kimpton ERA, I have 2 results when I search online:

  • Kimpton Era Midtown New York

  • Kimpton Hotel Fontenot – Minneapolis (Kimpton Era)

It would be a huge help to international members if you could just spend an extra two seconds to type out the actual city name or country.

The picture of the Anomaly. It reminds me about the picture in the devil's bible. Does some else see a similarity?

Like the title says, every time they talk about the anomaly, I see the same picture as the creature in the Devils Bible.

I don't say it's the devil, I'm not religious, but the outlines look the same.

The book only has the name, Devils Bible, because the people in that time believed in the devil.

Maybe it's a warning of ...

This is a picture from the "anomaly" in the codex gigas, devils bible:

I'm not good in drawing, the anomaly:

Can someone explain to me what this means practically for UK pensioners in Thailand: UK Confirms Pension Freeze for Expats in Thailand.

Do I understand this correctly:

When you have a pension in the UK, the pension exists of 2 parts:

  • state pension

  • private pension

The median pension will be around £ 13 000, take 15 000 Euro per year, or 1 250 Euro / 47 000 THB per month.

The state pension is the largest part, 1 100 Euro per month?

Is it now that the State Pension will not increase anymore with the inflation when you leave the UK and live in Thailand?

And the average increase is around 4% per year?

If I calculate:

  • 1 100 + 4%= 1 144

  • 1 144 + 4% = 1 190

  • 1 190 + 4% = 1 238

  • 1 238 + 4% = 1 288

  • 1 288 + 4% = 1 340

This means, after 5 years, 1 340 - 1 100 = 240 Euro / 9 000 THB per month lost?

This is not a small number.

When I calculate after 5 years: The total lost is around 330 000 THB!

Is this a reason for UK pensioners to move back to the UK or a country where that you still have the inflation correction?

Take for example the Philippines?

If you have a promotion, 4 nights = 8 000 points, and you book 4 nights with points, do you still have the 8 000 points promotion?

I have a promotion where staying 4 nights earns 8,000 points.

If I book a 4-night stay using points, will I still get the 8,000-point bonus?

The hotel I’m interested in costs 11,000 points per night, so 4 nights would be 44,000 points.

If I get 8,000 points back, it’s a great deal.

As the title suggests, I have a new offer: 2,000 points for every 2 nights, or 8,000 points for every 4 nights.

What do you think of this deal?

I’m a Diamond Elite member, and if I’m not mistaken, with my status I often earn more than 2,000 points for 2 nights.
