There are so many summaries, videos, question banks and other resources floating around that it’s hard to know what’s actually useful. I don’t really want to spend hundreds more if the CPA material and practice questions are enough. Do extra resources genuinely make a difference?
I spent far too long today getting a reconciliation to tie out perfectly and honestly it was probably the most satisfying part of my week. No unexplained difference, no mystery transaction, no “we’ll investigate this next month” balance just sitting there. I know this probably sounds incredibly boring to anyone outside accounting, but I can’t be the only person who gets an unreasonable amount of satisfaction from seeing everything finally balance.

I’m mapping out my subjects for next semester while working full-time in a commercial accounting role (approx 40 hrs/week).
I really want to get the heavy technical modules out of the way early, so I’m considering doing Financial Reporting and SMA in the same term. People at work keep telling me FR alone takes up 15+ hours of study a week just to keep up with the standards and practice questions.
For those who have taken both: is doing them together manageable if you lock down your weekends, or should I pair FR with something like Ethics & Governance instead to protect my sanity?

Had a small business client try to claim their family Golden Retriever as a "Site Security Asset" and wanted to depreciate the dog over 5 years under the instant asset write-off, plus claim 100% of the dog food as a operational expense. When I told him the ATO would audit that instantly, he asked if he could write it off as "stress management equipment" instead.
