It seems like it would be worth it to rescue this but I have no idea what chemicals to use or where to start
Very neglected Vulcan flat top. Is it worth saving and if so, how?
Been in the trades for about 7 years but only been tiling about a year. Curious to see what Reddit thinks about my work. I will be rolling on waterproofing membrane tomorrow after this dries.

I have a window flush with interior studs inside a shower. My original idea was to frame it out with PVC trim flush with hardibacker, then lap the joint with schluter band, mortar on the hardi side, and kerdi fix on the PVC side. Everything I've read says don't tile over PVC, so what should I do instead to ensure a finished look for the thickness of the hardibacker?
