Hey everyone,

I posted a little while ago about BodyReserve, an iPhone and Apple Watch app I’ve been building. It’s now getting close to the private beta stage, so I wanted to share some actual screenshots.

I wanted to start off by saying that this app was built for me first. I couldn't find an app that I actually liked. Bevel is great but is way too bloated for what I need and BodyState while much smaller scope, is dragged down by a recurring subscription.

The idea is to bring three things together:

  • Energy Reserve: a 0-100 view that recharges through restorative sleep and changes through activity, workouts and supported physiological load.
  • Recovery: a morning estimate based on how sleep and overnight signals compare with your own usual pattern.
  • Physiological Stress: periodic supported readings throughout the day, with genuine gaps left visible when there isn’t enough compatible Watch data.

A few principles have been important to me while building it:

  • Apple Health access is read-only.
  • Calculations happen on the iPhone.
  • There is no account, cloud backend, advertising or analytics.
  • Missing data stays unavailable instead of being turned into zero.
  • Stress is not presented as continuous monitoring no made up data).
  • I don’t plan to make it a subscription.

On your iPhone is where you can explore the full day, sleep and supporting signals. The Watch keeps the latest valid snapshot available and clearly labels freshness if the phone is unavailable.

The consumer-facing design is now fairly close to final. I’m still finishing physical calibration and real-device validation before opening the small private beta.

The screenshots use deterministic mock data. This lets me show complete states without sharing personal health information or pretending unfinished calibration is real evidence.

I’d genuinely appreciate feedback:

  • Does the main Energy screen make sense at a glance?
  • Is the Recovery explanation useful without feeling too technical?
  • Does the Stress presentation communicate gaps and periodic readings clearly?
  • What would you want to understand before trusting an app like this?

I'm building a focused Body Battery-style app for Apple Watch and am looking for 10–15 beta testers

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on an Apple Watch app called BodyReserve, and I’m getting close to starting the first TestFlight beta.

The idea came from wanting something similar to Garmin’s Body Battery on Apple Watch, but without needing another huge health platform on top of Apple health.

I used BodyState for a while and liked how simple and focused it was. After it changed hands though, support and development seemed to drop off, and more features started moving behind a subscription.

Bevel is genuinely a very polished app, but it has grown into a much broader health and fitness platform. For what I personally wanted, it felt like a lot of features and information that Apple Health already covers.

So I started building the app I actually wanted:

  • One clear Energy Reserve from 0–100
  • A morning Recovery score based on your personal baseline
  • Discrete physiological stress estimates
  • A timeline showing what recharged or drained your Reserve
  • Confidence, freshness and missing-data explanations
  • A proper iPhone and Apple Watch experience

The main difference I’m aiming for is transparency. If BodyReserve gives you a score of 62, it should also tell you why it changed, how recent the evidence is, how confident the estimate is, and where Apple Watch data was incomplete.

It is designed around read-only Apple Health access and on-device calculation. There is no account required, no advertising, and no health-data backend for the core experience.

I haven't decided on pricing yet but can confirm there will be no subscription, we have enough of those.

I’m now looking for an initial group of around 10–15 beta testers. You do not need to be an athlete, but the most useful testers will be people who:

  • Wear an Apple Watch most days
  • Are willing to wear it consistently for several weeks
  • Preferably use it for sleep tracking
  • Are happy to report when a result feels wrong, not just when it looks good

The beta will be free through TestFlight. The algorithms use personal baselines, so some features will need time and enough compatible Watch data to calibrate. This is still experimental software, and I’m not claiming the models are already more accurate than existing apps - that is exactly what I need real users to help evaluate.

I’d be especially interested in hearing from people who currently use BodyState, Bevel, Athlytic, or Garmin alongside an Apple Watch, but people who have never used a readiness app would also be valuable.

I'm Building a “data nerd mode” telemetry app for DJI drones

I’m building a read-only Android app for the RC2 that gives DJI pilots much more detail about the state of their aircraft, much closer to the kind of raw information FPV pilots are used to seeing.

The app runs alongside DJI Fly on the DJI RC 2 and scans the telemetry being sent from the aircraft. I’ve been reverse-engineering the packet structure and validating individual fields through my own testing. It's been a nightmare trying to map the packets to parameters coming from the aircraft, but a fun learning experience.

It is completely read-only: it doesn’t modify DJI Fly, transmit commands or change any aircraft settings.

There is still a lot to decode, particularly compass/IMU diagnostics, obstacle-sensing states and O4 transmission information such as band, channel and signal quality. The goal is an aircraft health dashboard for pilots who want more than simplified messages such as the generic “Compass interference” or “Gimbal error.” messages we are used to seeing from DJI.

This is still an early Air 3S/RC 2 prototype, but by initial tests are promising. What raw metrics or diagnostics would you want an app like this to expose?

If I do end up releasing this app, it will be free and open source. Just seeing if there is any interest in this kind of thing?

Hey everyone,

Recently got back into FPV after falling out of the hobby around 2021, and decided to pick up the GEPRC Vapor D5 since I'd heard great things. It's been brilliant to fly so far and i'm really happy with how it handles.

The one issue I'm running into is the footage coming from the O4 camera. I'm getting alot of jello during punch-outs and sharp turns, and when I bring the footage into Gyroflow you can see the noisy gyro data coming through. It produces this crazy shaking effect during fast manoeuvres.

I've already loosened the TPU camera mount a fair bit, it was originally compressed quite hard against the camera body. That helped reduce jello a bit in the raw footage, but the IMU is clearly still picking up a lot of vibrations.

It's really frustrating since I've been watching videos of others flying this quad and the footage looks buttery smooth.

I'll try attach some photos and videos so you can see.
