After a few years of hibernation I want to play again BF4, but should I buy it for my PS4? And how active is the community there?

Hello everyone

So after years of being inactive on BF (and gaming in general being way less active because I was having barely any time until recently) I wanna start again. The passion and love of this game did stay (I lost hundreds of hours on this game on my PS3 with so much fun online) but given I having a PS4 I wanna know of I should buy this game or that I should buy a different BF series on my PS4? Because the last thing I want is to either having empty rooms with nobody to play and/or EA taking the plug out of the online service soon.

I hope this community can give some good advice :)
