Useful tool to find somewhere to watch the eclipse tomorrow in Reading
It looks like we'll have clear skies tomorrow for the eclipse, but keep in mind the sun will be quite low in the sky by the time it's happening (7:12pm for maximum).
This tool enables you to see a shadow-map, to find the best places to look west tomorrow evening: https://shademap.app/@51.45643,-0.97198,14.26425z,1786558347211t,0b,0p,0m!1786509718921!1786563114201,qUmVhZGluZw==!51.45565!-0.97216
Please remember only to look directly at the eclipse using ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses, or one of the other safe methods to watch indirectly.

youtube.comUpcoming AMA Announcement: Wayne Rooney
I am pinching myself slightly to be able to announce that former England captain Wayne Rooney will be joining us on r/ThreeLions for an AMA (Ask Me Anything).
Wayne earned 120 England caps, scored 53 goals for the Three Lions, appeared at three World Cups and three European Championships, and remains one of the most recognisable figures in English football.
The AMA thread will be posted tomorrow (Saturday) at 5pm (BST), where you'll be able to submit your questions directly, and Wayne will be answering them from 5pm (BST) on Monday, 22 June.
This thread will be locked to avoid questions being asked here - please start thinking about what you'd like to ask and keep an eye out for the AMA post tomorrow.
Thanks to Wayne, his team and the BBC Sport Team for making this happen.

The World Cup is nearly here – a quick subreddit update
The tournament is almost upon us, which means the subreddit is about to get a lot busier. Before things kick off, here’s a few quick reminders, what to expect during the tournament, and the threads we’ll be running throughout.
First things first: don’t be a dick
A reminder that brigading, trolling, or invading other national team subreddits to gloat, bait, or stir things up is not allowed. Win or lose, please behave with grace and decency - and don't give England fans a bad name.
Likewise, racism, xenophobia, personal abuse, or any other form of hateful behaviour in the sub will result in bans. You can disagree with each other, but please do so respectfully.
Additionally - while politics and football will always intersect - let's try to focus on the football here. There are plenty of other places on Reddit for you to go deep on political discussion.
Upcoming AMA with Hamzah Khalique-Loonat from The Times
In the run up, we're lucky to have Hamzah Khalique-Loonat joining us from The Times tomorrow (4 June) for an AMA all about England and tactics. Hamzah is a football data journalist for The Times, and writes The Trend, a tactical and statistical football analysis column. Hamzah covers England’s senior and Under-21 teams, conducts sports investigations, and is a writer of the football newsletter. He was named the Sports Journalists’ Association’s data journalist of the year in 2024 and 2025.
You can read more about Hamzah and ask questions here.
Tournament threads
Alongside dedicated England match threads and post-match threads, we’ll also be running:
- Daily Tournament Threads for general football chat, non-England games, quick questions, and all the usual tournament chaos
- Weekly “The Lions Den” discussion threads for broader England conversation outside match threads
- Location-specific travel threads for fans attending matches and travelling during the tournament
Travelling supporters
If you’re heading out to matches, please look after yourselves and each other. Use the travel threads to share advice, meetup plans, local tips, transport information, pub recommendations, and anything else that might help fellow fans.
Please also be careful with ticket exchanges and avoid scams. A reminder that ticket buying and selling is not allowed here.
Travel advice for the World Cup can be found here.
Finally...
Enjoy it.
World Cups only come around every four years, and whatever happens on the pitch, try and have fun. We want this subreddit can be a good place for everyone to experience it together.
Come on England!
Constant chat notifications with no chats once opened [Desktop/Web][Firefox][RES]
Hello! I am browsing old.reddit on Firefox with RES active - although this problem effects sh.reddit also.
I constantly have the little red notification for new chat messages, but when I open chat, there are no new messages, even filtered/hidden ones.
