please help me figure out what the pattern means (increases)

hi everyone! I am knitting a pattern with 111CO stiches and it reads to increase until 208, so 97 increases over 5 rounds. which I thought was a lot but This is what I did:

first row 111 increase 27 = 138
(increase about every 4 stiches [until 138 total])

second row knit

third row 138 increase 34 = 172
(increase about every 4 stiches [until 173 total])

fourth row knit

fifth row 172 incease 36 = 208
(increase about every 5-4 stitches [until reach 208 total])

i’ve attached a photo of the instructions but I got some buckling. I posted in another knitting group and someone mentioned that it should have been worked over 10 rows and 5 increase rows which makes sense but when I look at the creators sweater her rows before the flowers start arent that many stitches. and with the chart, you already have to knit 12-15 rows of plain colour with raglan increase before the colourwork. ahh i’m just so lost.

I know it looks bad, i’m okay with restarting if it needs to be done. my mom knits and says she read the pattern the same as me and that it will get better with more weight in other parts of the sweater. If I restart, I want to know where I went wrong

I love knitting but it gives me so much anxiety to keep having to restart because I can’t understand the pattern and I feel so silly, thank you so much in advance

buckling due to increase in the pattern?

the pattern had me increase 97 times over 5 rows
(knit every other row) and it created some buckling, is this ok?

What is the most secure way to join/change to a new colour when knitting

i’m preparing to knit a sweater (in the round) and just wondering if anyone has any links to good methods of securely joining a new colour/switching to a new colour!! thank you in advance

will this come undone??

Trying to find the most secure way when adding a new colour! I tried the twist and weave and i’m not sure if I did it right because it doesn’t feel that secure and i’m mostly just worried about it coming undone ! I will of course weave in the ends but will it be okay?

Hole in where I Joined round!

magic loop has been so annoying for me to get the hang of, kept twisting my stiches!!,finally connect in the round but I didn’t go it right enough and my gap is creating lattering(?) should I restart, i’m worried I did something wrong with how I joined because I feel when I pull my tail it tightens a bit but also almost feels like I could pull it loose lol agh

How do I know when/where to put my increases within each row?

I’m knitting my first sweater pattern and i’m super excited but i’m a bit confused and stuck on this part of the increases. I casted on 108 stiches and I need to increase over 5 rows, alternating between normal knit rows. I need to end up with a total of 176 stiches when i’m done increasing. But how do I know where to place my increases within stiches?? The number of stiches I need to increase each row doesn’t divide evenly so should I just approximate it until I end up with my total? like this for example?:

row one starting with 108 increase one stitch
every 5 approx to end up with 130 total

row 2 knit all stitches

row 3 starting with 130 increase every 5-6 stitches until you end with 153 stitches

row 4 knit all stiches

row 5 starting wirh 153, increase every 6-7 stitches until ending with 176 stiches total

I’ve never seen a pattern written this way so I apologize if this is a silly questions! I appreciate any advice or suggestions, thank you again!

Combination Knitting? Tension help

Hi all! this is my first time posting in this group so if this isn’t the right place to ask i’m so sorry and please feel free to delete. I am just getting into knitting and was feeling confident enough to attempt a sweater. I found out I was twisting my stitches the way I was purling. I was doing it the way people do it when they knit combination but I wasn’t knitting through the back loops to compensate, leaving me with twists.

I now know and I haven’t started my sweater yet because I’m trying to correct and find a way to knit that feels right. I hold my yarn continental (I crochet and it feels much easier) and I think I would like to try combination knitting because it feels natural but i’m scared to try that with my first project because i’m already intimidated with reading a new pattern and I don’t want to worry about figuring out how to convert the increases or change them to work with the way the stitches fall on my needles when i’m combination knitting.

Also, do you need to create a different cast on when you combonation knit? I can’t really find much online so I thought I would ask the experts! It seems when I try to start knitting in the back loops when I long tail cast on it doesn’t work. It would make sense if I needed to cast on a different way but that’s just another complication 😅

I was thinking I could try and just knit regularly for this project and try to master combination after (if that’s what feels better for my hands) because I just really want to be able to start and not run into problems. But also I fear i’ll row out!! ahh any advice is GREATLY appreciated! if you have any other suggestions im super open, again I have started my sweater yet but it includes knitting in the round. Thanks again!

I stopped taking my birth control for over a week

i’m an 18y/o female and was put on mya birth control for my severe acne and to help with irregular periods. This was about a year ago and It has really helped with both. For context, i’m a lesbian so I don’t need to take the pill for contraception. When I first started taking it I got so nauseous that I couldn’t even go to work without running to the bathroom to gag every hour but the nausea didn’t last more than a month and everything has been normal since then. Recently I went on a trip and forgot to bring my birth control, it was for a bit over a week and it was at the end of a monthly package so I had my period and then didn’t take it for the week or so. Today I finally got home and took my pill and got hit with crazy intense nausea again, and still have it as i’m writing this. The birth control has really helped with both regulating my periods and my acne is pretty much gone but I was wondering would it be okay to stop taking it cold turkey? is this something I should ask my doctor about? I don’t mind going through the nauseous period again but I just don’t really want to have to take a pill my whole life especially if i’m not even taking it to prevent getting pregnant. Will my acne come back if I stop taking it? any advice is super appreciated, thank you for taking the time to read my paragraph haha
