Happiness on a Kath - Horla team can help against the Aigis gimmick, and helps mitigate the variance of Kath's shielding at a high turn-count

I did a W2 SS Kath clear last week, and after turn 33 or something died due to not being able to draw enough Kath Defense cards when I needed them, mostly due to how high my exalt's aliemus cost had gotten. Aigis applies Retain only to the top cards of your discard or draw pile, so having her apply retain to Kath cards is very rare (I think only Last Salvo and a Strike had retain by the time I died).

After restarting the fight, I realized that using Horla's Happiness instead of Grief led to me being able to keep all of my Kath cards in my hand, and not have to play a 4 cost symptom full of Stagnation just to make some space in order to draw my Kath cards 🥹. If you play cards that have 3 Fiamma as much as possible, you can keep cards in your hand for a pretty long time! This really helped with consistency.

Not drawing any cards made my weakness application pretty inconsistent though, so ideally you should try to get the Ultra relic that applies it on annihilation. The +20% base shield relic should also do something similar. Blessed Blood also really helps with the damage you take in unlucky turns.

The DR procs were all during the boss fight, and were all due to the Fiamma stacks being transferred in an unfavourable way 😔.

With good relics, SSS at E3 should be quite doable, and maybe even Madness/Dissolution/▼. I was getting gazed on mob fights anyways, and not needing to draw cards kind of negates the problem symptoms introduce 🤷‍♂️

How are you supposed to survive play the Vortice pursuit-spam comp?

I'm specifically referring to the team people are using on W5.

I'm not used to playing it, so I'm struggling 😶. I tried playing E3 Caraboo + E0 Saya + E3 Murphy + borrowed Vortice yesterday, but I was having trouble doing mob fights on SS difficulty, which is a bit embarrassing 🫣.

I think I'm doing something fundamentally wrong. I'd appreciate help from the people playing the comp regularly on Madness.

#edit: I didn't mean to write "survive play" in the title, just "play" :(

+12 Sanga + OE Myriam might be on the same realm as 24 🤯

So, I was discussing why I don't think Mouchette can be considered S-tier, responding to a comment u/zyouch made, when I received a reply from u/Angbak94 about Mouchette being able to clear all D-Tide waves with her BIS team.

While replying to u/Angbak94, I wrote that I think an S-tier damage-dealer should at least scale better than linearly if they don't deal fixed HP% damage. The only awakener I was aware of that could achieve this was 24, but I decided to quickly look through the enlightens of all damage-dealers before replying.

While reading through Sanga's AA, I remembered that Myriam can bypass the limitations on the amount of tentacles that you're able to naturally generate with her OE, so Sanga's damage might scale quadratically 🤯🤯🤯

Questions

Does anyone play this team? Can you tell me about it? I'm very interested about knowing more!!! It seems to have a lot of potential, but I don't have OE Myriam, so I'd like to know more before I decide whether to pull for OE Myriam or not.

Mainly:

- What are the enemies this team struggles against?

- If this comp has issues that need to be solved, what are they?

- What version of this comp have you played, or know of? What are some good 3rd and 4th slots?

- How do you feed Aliemus to Myriam? Caro?

- How do you deal with mob-fights?

Edit:

Her soulforge scales her tentacle DMG generation with the amount of shield she generates. If this is not capped by generating shields above your max HP, she might have a very small cubic factor to her scaling 🤔 It would probably take like 100 turns for this to come into play though 🤣 If you have, for instance, 2500 Max HP, then getting your shields maxed out would give you just 150 Tentacle DMG 🥲.

How do you re-roll the Mono-Chaos relic in D-Tide?

I reset the 24 W4 clear I'd done on Monday, on which I'd used an E-Cog. I decided to try and get the camera relic, but every time I re-enter the stage, the same set of 3 relics appears.

I remember watching around an hour of the W2 24 Madness stream Draco did, and in it, she managed to get different relics every time she re-entered W2.

What do you need to do in order to get a new pool rolled when you re-enter the stage?

How do all of Mono-Chaos 24's damage multipliers interact with each other?

In a Mono-Chaos team, 24 scales Twisted Carrion Revel's Base Damage by a percentage when exalting, it's Final Damage when using a posse, and her "general" damage by a fixed amount when exalting while in her manic persona.

From my understanding:

- All forms of Base DMG % (which include Base DMG %, Exalt Base DMG %, etc.) are multiplicative with each other and DMG Amp.

- All forms of Final DMG % (which include Final DMG %, Exalt Final DMG %, etc.) are multiplicative with each other and are applied last in the damage calculation (i.e., they multiply the "final" damage number).

However, I'm not certain how the damage added by exalting while in 24's manic persona interacts with Base DMG% or DMG Amp.

If:

- B = Twisted Carrion Revel's Base Damage before buffs (so just 150% of her ATK)

- g = The "general" damage increase provided by exalting on 24 while in her manic persona

- b = All forms of Base DMG % that apply to 24's exalt compounded with each other

- d = Total DMG Amp.

- f = All forms of Final DMG % that apply to 24's exalt compounded with each other

Then, with 0 STR, and ignoring crits and vulnerable/weakness, does 24's exalt damage equal:

- (B + g)*(1+b)*d*(1+f), giving 24 a damage per turn of O(n^3), with n = amount of turns, given that at least 1 posse is used every turn, and that she's exalting every turn

- or (B*(1+b)+ g)*d*(1+f), giving 24 a damage per turn of O(n^2), given that the previous hypotheses hold

- or some other formula?

Intentions of the new enemies in W1, W2, and W5

Does anybody have a list and ordering of the intentions of:

- Phase 2 24 (W1)

- The W2 Boss

- The W5 Boss

They aren't in the Morimens Boss Compendium yet, and it'd be quite helpful in order to think of teams for those waves 🙁

How does Tentacle DMG scale with Strength, and what other 'hidden' mechanics does Aequor have?

I've noticed that whenever I gain Strength on an Aequor team, I receive some Tentacle DMG. I estimate that around half of the Strength gets turned into Tentacle DMG, but I'd like some confirmation of that observation.

I haven't seen any reference to this mechanic inside the game. I clicked on the realm icon on the lineup screen and on the tentacles in-game, but neither made any reference to Strength increasing Tentacle DMG. This leads me to believe that maybe there are a lot of other 'hidden' realm mechanics that I'm not aware of.

I would appreciate any resource that compiles these kinds of findings regarding realm mechanics!

I'm not exclusively interested in Aequor mechanics; anything concerning real mechanics that's not explicitly stated in-game, or is very well hidden, is appreciated.

The W3 relic is pretty good as long as you play around it

I got a very nice W3A5 by taking advantage of the relic. Caecus didn't do much for me, so I'd say it's probably better to use an extra healer instead. The boss deals poison to you on unblocked hits if you let his minions live, which will probably be the case in a stall comp, so shielding is better than healing.

Nautila or Sanga are nice in order to dispel the fragile dealt by the minions, and Castor's or Saya's corrosion should make the clear much faster.

Also, while Sanga's OE is very good, I don't think it's really necessary, as she's not dealing much damage here; she's mostly just generating shields. OE is sometimes nice for killing minions, or as a recourse for when you can't quite fully shield incoming damage.

Here's the replay code:

First D-Tide 400 as a F2P!

I thought it would take me a few more months to get my first D-Tide 400, but I've finally done it! I don't know if I'm ready for getting 400 on all D-Tides from here on out yet, but I'm at the very least one step closer!

A few commentaries on things I found noteworthy about the different waves:

W1: This wave taught me that Casiah is quite good for fights against bosses that scale slowly, provided she has her portrait. I found replays of clears that used Erica E2 instead of Xu and had Castor on Photosynthesis Ritual in order to generate Embryos, but I don't have Erica's E2, so Erica's shields wouldn't scale for me 😔.

W2: GHelot really does have a lot of cheese potential against bosses that rely on shields. After I finish getting her to level 80 and I get a higher account level, I expect she'll get a lot easier to play.

W3: Borrowing a Whale Mouchette seems to generally be the easiest way to get an A5 clear with a bunch of nobodies. She's starting to seem more appealing to me, but I don't really like that she doesn't scale all that well; from what I understood from reading her kit, she has a strict damage ceiling after you've exalted and done all of your pursuits 🫤. I also don't really like dying 😅.

W4: GMurphy's OE really improves her consistency by quite a bit. I feel like it wasn't really necessary for this wave, as I only used it on the boss fight, and I think I had some more wiggle room left on that fight; however, if possible, I prefer not having to grind a wave for specific relics or a specific card order, so I don't regret getting her.

W5: This was the wave that gave me the most issues, as I don't currently have an exalt DPS, and, before Sunday (Clem's rerun), I didn't have a weakness/vuln applier OR healer left over for this team. I tried using Hameln instead, but Arachne's self-damage and the lack of healing made the team kind of bad 🙃 (or at the very least annoying). I know Ryker's pretty good in this team, but I don't have him yet.

The only difficult part of this wave (after getting Clem) was getting past the very first mob fight, as it seemed like the only way to not die/proc a DR was by killing the back-line mob on turn 1. I ended up resetting until I got a hand with an Arachne strike, defense, and eternal loom, followed by getting an eternal loom drawn from my deck after the first annihilation with the effect of the +12 2nd anni wheel, as I needed 3 eternal looms and 2 of Arachne's pursuits in order to kill that guy.

It was also very fun to get Kath to scale as high as she did, I think my last Hyperflare dealt like 800k damage 🤣.

I'll now be waiting eagerly for Angbak's first D-Tide 400 on his F2P account, in order to see how much faster I could've gotten my clear.

I'm thinking investing a little more into Poison units, and picking up an E1 Vortice, are the next things I should be focusing on at the moment, but I'm open to suggestions, as the path forward right now seems a lot more flexible than it was previously 🤔.

Hyperbloom on Tulpa

I've seen a lot of people using some very powerful characters on Tulpa, which is completely unnecessary. I believe you can maybe get away with using only 4-stars or standard characters at reasonable levels of investment, but here's a Lauma clear I got after a few minutes of trying to optimize my rotations. You can probably get a lot closer to 90s, I did this clear on mobile with a lot of ping.

Lauma is C0, and everybody is using 4-star weapons.

This is just meant to remind some players that Tulpa can probably be cleared with whatever you have left-over after clearing the other fights.

What does Myriam's soulforge do?

At soulforge level 10, Myriam's soulforge states "All Awakener's Tentacle DMG +20%".

To my knowledge, there are no Awakener's that deal Tentacle DMG. I've seen Awakeners that have a Tentacle DMG bonus on certain attacks (like GMurphy, Murphy, and Tulu), Awakeners that trigger coordonated Tentacle attacks (like Tulu), and Awakeners that generate Tentacle DMG (like GMurphy). Does Myriam's soulforge affect any of these, or does it do something else entirely?
