How do you guys find Pontos now that we have Caro ring? My E3 Pontos feels somewhat miserable for my standards.
How do you guys find Pontos now that we have Caro ring? My E3 Pontos feels somewhat miserable for my standards.
I just want to talk lil' quick over this comp.
On the hyper gacha 30$ pack I got Sorel E3 and her wheel E3 and since then I am thinking of how to make her work. I feel in this comp, and especially with the new shop wheel, she might have gotten a huge buff.
Unfortunately, I am missing the resources to increase levels and the card strength, while also missing out on Pickman E3, so I cannot test it, but from theory, this is really strong.
Sorel has one command card which is useless if she does not ult. The other one is nice for Embryo fusion gain. Her strikes and defenses are nice for Alemius gain but she does not need to get Alemius when playing the shop wheel card.
Basically, you rouse Leigh first, and then she is insanely strong in generating Embryo fusion while stalling the game and generating keyflare. She synergizes extremely well with Sorel for strength gain and being below 50% max HP. When Sorel comes back, you rouse her so you get an instant overexalt when playing the Wonderland card turn 1. Before Sorel's Exalt her Rouse is useless anyway.
Pickmann also synergizes maybe the best with Sorel of all Awakeners. Faint can further stall the game, and since you do not have so much max HP, the DR is insanely good.
Pickman, Faint and Leigh all want their cards to be played at all times, and a normal Exalt is already very good. Sorels Overexalt, however, is very strong; you will get a nice heal and the next 3 command cards will take effect 2 times. With Pickman and his Posse you might already get two double plays on Sorel's 1 cost for a whopping 160 embryo fusion in the turn after paired with her 2 cost hitting 8 times you'll heal like 300 hp. Another possibility is double play 1 time on the 1 cost and two times the two cost for a similiar amount of hp and even more damage for just 5 arith. Quite likely with Pickman. At the end, this setup, no matter E3 or OE Sorel, allows you to have an OE in every turn 3 on the first mob wave because of the fast reset.
Lastly, all covenant choices are nice and smooth. Leigh with the Keyflare covenant while having a strong 3 cost with retain that can stall especially mob fights really well. Faint with DR for her Talent. Pickman with his strongest Covenant for maximum Exalts.
Overall, everybody synergizes with everybody veeery well.
So yeah, that's it. Maybe one of the best new Sorel comps. What do you think? Would love to see somebody play-testing it. I also believe an OE Sorel will benefit strongly.
All the best
Lula
Edit: My bad, you would have the OE by turn 4 at the earliest.
Thanks to monchies the new wheel is now playtested with a whaled Sorel/Team and he can burst in turn 3 on the first mob fight to win and then kill by turn 1/2 in the other mob fights without the wheel!!! In this scenario the Wonderland card would be a dead card which is a huge drawback. However, if an E3 Sorel or an OE Sorel in a non whale-team cannot do this, then Wonderland wheel might be still valuable to help you win your D-Tide.
Furthermore, consider the Tawil wheel for more Embryos you can hold when you have an E3 Tawil and use her as a support in a Vortice comp. Consider Clem instead of Faint for your keyflare bot. Consider Dreams on Pickman for more consistent Vuln application and burst set-up. Consider Hameln for Faint for more Arith/Draw and keyflare bot for also better setting up vuln application and burst turn while generating strength. Consider Horla E1 for Faint if you cannot set up Vuln consistently enough in your burst turn. Then, let Leigh be your keyflare bot and Horla your DR awakener. Lastly, April Tribute might be the covenant of your choice for Sorel.
I tried using a kath and poison team but i keep dying too early, idk what to do. Also trying to clear on alert 4
Currently im at what you'd consider a new-mid game player (I think....!) and I would like to know what units most embody a gameplay style (Poison, crit, idk anymore) and try them out to figure out what typa playstyle tickles my fancy ^^
Today marks my 500th day in Morimens never missing a day since first logging in. I believe I'd be considered a "light spender" around $30-$50 a month, but the last 2 months has been 0 since the Bonus Silver refund
Here is a list of my box
As you can see I own every unit with varying levels of investment. With the several most recent support units, Arachne and Saya and even Pontos, they have opened a ton of potential comps allowing units that have been collecting dust for ages to finally be viable.
The units I REGRET the most in terms of investment would be
G:Doll : (Regreted her almost immediately),
Tawil : it took several months before I regretted her BUT with the recent units she actually turned back around. Tawil + Vortice OR Saya make strong viable comps,
Ghelot OE : - Although I dont use Ghelot pretty much at all anymore, her OE was definitely a waste, but at the time she was a unit I was using a lot and didn't think she would get power crept
Kathigu-Ra : I was a huge pusher of Kath on release and up until after Gmurphy Release Kath was extremely Meta to the point where you'd see people running 2 Kath comps in 400+ D-Tide. But with the current scaling of damage and enemy health, she takes a lot longer than most other carries and while still viable, as a Dad of 2 I dont really want to spend an hour + on 1 stage to make her work. I think she is still Viable for players but I personally do not use her because of how long she takes to clear.
GMurphy : Just to some extent. Gmurphy allowed a unique team to be created "Lemurian" and while that comp is still viable and I use it most tides, when she was released the community was going wild calling her the best unit in the game and nothing could really top her. Well.... Most units with similar investment do top her, and while several crazy players like Draco and Luffy clear A5 with E3 Gmurphy, for most players it won't be that easy. She needs good investment in ALL her teammates as well and just doesnt feel "safe" to play consistently.
I spent most of my early game in "wheel" jails which was a huge mistake and I only realized it after around 2nd Anni (Gmurphy release) Monchi was the first person I saw with heavy push back on wheel jail and I am EXTREMELY glad I listened to him way back then. My account was actually in a good place where I stopped pulling on all standard banners and just hoarded my standard pulls. Then the devs dropped AA Standard patch that also introduced getting selector shards for after you AA a unit. Since then I've been able to craft 4 universal selectors for pulling on Standard dupes with my saved up limiteds and focusing on them. Most of the standards that I do have at AA now I will be integrating into my future teams, and if I decide to do 425 I will be in a much stronger place with these AA units than +12 wheel, IMO.
I generally don't Hoard resources and try to make my account stronger in the present. My biggest gripe with the game in terms of resources is the weekly skill mat limitation and red shards. As someone who likes to test out comps, it is difficult to test when your skills are low levels so even after 500 days and many many BP's, I am still always low on skill Materials
I am not going to go TOO much into D-Tide here, but if you have questions feel free to ask. I only do 400 tides for 1 main reason, there are NO REWARDS for going further. I know my account is more than capable of going even further beyond but until there is some in game incentive, I prefer the easiest fastest route. As an old man and dad of 2 I want the best units that can clear the content in minimal turns / time played. Everyone of my clears besides the last Wave is under 10 turns TOTAL for the entire stage. and Honestly I think I did a run where I did do 10 turns total for W5 this week but it wasnt part of my 400 clear. I am not personally an advocate for more rewards beyond 400, but if they do add them, I would go beyond.
So this is my silver prime purchased so if you do the "rough" math it is about $48 a month, but if I keep playing that number is going to go down since I dont think I'll need to spend another dollar until about 2 or 3 more months with my current stash of silver prime.
Units I regret NOT investing more into:
Pickman : Very powerful support unit, but is heavily focused on using him and his cards to buff your team while the DPS you pair him with only gets to play a little. He is just an odd playstyle and while in theory I think I would like him, he is sort of like tawil where his turns can take a long time to optimize properly
Alva / Jenkins for Saya : Both of these standard units are REALLY strong with saya, dont need crazy investment and can allow you strong A5 clears with minimal limited unit help. I reset my Jenkins like 2 months before Saya so there is no helping it and I never pulled Chaos a lot so Alva had always been low. I am happy that Saya + Sorel work well though but If I had either of them invested, I'd probably have saved A LOT of limited pulls by not pulling OE Sorel.
Closing Thoughts - If you want to improve FAST and care about score, look into the meta from multiple choices. The game is in an AMAZING state right where almost every unit can have a strong viable end game comp, so try to pick a few carries you like the most and build a team around them.
Sequence your cards properly, the difference in damage in a single turn from playing cards in any order vs the exact right order, even with the best DPS units, can be in the magnitude of millions of damage missing, sometimes you need to restart over and over to play 1 single turn to the most optimal way possible.
This game is a Marathon not a Sprint. A day 1 whale who spends $2k and gets maybe 5 AA units right when they start will STILL be weaker than a day 200 player F2P player just do to time gated resources. Being patient is EXTREMELY difficult, but if you can master that your account will be in a better place than spending on banners willy nilly. Like Right now I have all these pulls that are burning a hole in my pocket.... but there is no reason for me to pull so saving them for whatever next mega OP unit could benefit me much more than going all in on one of the current banners.
If you have any Questions Feel free to ask, and while I dont consider myself a "content creator" anymore I do post some commentary Videos here if you are interested. Just remember the way I think and play MIGHT not be the best for you and it is certainly not always the "optimal or only" way to play
Draco from discord here again. Finally managed to get both no limited OE and no whale borrow this time, last time Aequor ring came along I was only able to manage no limited OE. Just have Caro and Chaos ring left to complete with no limited OE and no whale... after that I'm not sure what kind of Dtide challenge runs to do. As always I have to use the borrow to replace my OE units because Biav won't let us un-overexalt units :(. Thank you to Spooky, Juno, and Arisu for letting me use their units as borrows. Additional thanks to Frost, Monchi, and Al for cheering me on during this journey,

(I swear I played so poorly this tide oml. I just started my internship which is a 2 hour daily commute and I was on 3 hours of sleep when I was dtiding.)
Approximate time for 425 with OEs (since I need to borrrow 3-4 units to replace my OEs and therefore can't hit leaderboard 425 unless I run OE teams first) and then no limited OE clears with borrows: 9 hours and 20 minutes
The first mob fight is almost always the hardest part of an A5 just because you have no resources or tools at your disposal and I'm almost always looking for a weakness in my opening hand. I usually say if you can beat the first mob fight with like an amount of keyflare that should be enough for a rouse on turn 1/2 of the next fight and exalts more charged than you started with, that you can likely beat the boss unless it is a bad matchup for the team.

Pretty typical Vortex comp, This easily could have been a 0 dr fight but I had 200% DR so I took the DR for extra arith and a silver key the next turn. DRs are just another tool in the toolbox. Celeste and Murphy were overkill in the sustain department this time but usually needed in higher waves. Vortex Pursuits + Ancient embers are always a great combination for damage and very nice for knocking out the bosses 10 DRs.

Stall Kath comp my beloved. I'm not sure if this comp needed Horla or not. I usually starve my Kath teams and use Doll/Winkle for consistent weak instead of Horla. This was one of my last clears and I had no teams running Ultra left so Horla got thrown into this comp. I tried to speedrun stacking strength to be able to knock out the bosses death resistance hp bars with things that were not Hyperflare. I think I really like Tinct keyflare bot with Murphy's wheel because Tinct's defense gives 2 instances of shield and her 3 cost which I play frequently to make up for stall Kath's sad crit rate, also gives shield so it helps charge keyflare. The stage relic was also really nice for keyflare regeneration so I was able to run a shitter keyflare wheel for Tinct's second wheel instead of something better like Gateway of Truth since Kath really really wants to posse every turn.

Honestly I was so suprised this team worked especially with how poorly I navigated the map. I forgot what the map layout was and accidentally got stuck going into the Elite at 100 hp instead of grabbing the existing heal point. Somehow I still ended up going hp positive to 900 hp courtesy of Clem's 2 cost by the end of the elite fight and then I accidentally went into the next mob fight without checking the shop. This was meant to be Xu-less Faros Aurita poison because Xu was needed on another team more but oh my goodness it was rough without Xu to poison trigger my sad amounts of poison and was mostly Aurita killing the mobs and elites. On the boss I managed to hit a lot of poison... the turn before it died (it was sitting at like 20k poison before turn 7 or 8) so I'm unsure how helpful Faros was compared to Tulu for pure Aurita DPS. If only Aurita teams felt this nice to play outside of blue ring. Agate was definitely a god tier pull for Aurita dps and the stage relic was pretty nice too since this comp discards and redraws a lot.

For the past few tides, wave 3 has not been very friendly to poison comps and finding a home for poison has been a bit rough. This clear was incredibly janky. Caro's keyflare generation with the Lifedrain Covenant sucks since instead of regenerating 200% of the wielders Keyflare regeneration at turn end, you get extra embryo fusion. I could not find a Gdoll to borrow for the life of me that was equiped with wheels I had not yet used and also was not OE that had Dreams meaning my poison application and consistency of weakness was very suboptimal and I had to take Lifedrain off of Nymph since there was no point in running 2 sets of it and I desperately needed to hit DRs. The boss has a few multihit turns so Xu's devour and posse were really nice here. Please if someone has a somewhat built E3 Gdoll hit me up.

I don't think wave 3 was the hardest wave, but it definitely was the most restrictive wave as only a few comps actually worked into it. Vortex, Gmurphy, Castor Pollux, and Pontus comps worked mostly due to their ability to generate enough shield to block the bosses first hit turn 1 and prevent it from spawning in mobs to give it DR and poisoning you. And Mouchette can kill anything as long as you hit enough DRs. Saya Sanga was the other comp that actually worked via corrosion + Sanga Exalt being nice damage but man it was rough. Especially because the boss couldn't take over a certain amount of damage until its hp dropped below 50%. Routing around this wave was challenging since all the comps that actually worked into this wave were some of the strongest comps in the game that other waves really wanted. I definitely needed Faint + Salvador to keep me alive at this investment. Notably this comp should also run well into W5 since Saya applies double the corrosion against Caro enemies. I ran tide before Pontus came out but just didn't finish the writeup until now.

I decided to not run keyflare wheels on this team to save them for other teams since I could just DR with Dusk and Dawn for all the keyflare I theoretically would need. Pandia was ran to remove the bosses counter so I didn't end up killing myself from hitting it when I was bursting. I normally would run Ramona but she was ran on my 24 team so Hameln was ran as filler to doubleplay a card.

This was my first time playing Chaos 24 and I was pleasently suprised by how nicely it ran with wellfare unit teamates, Doll and Ogier do a good job of keeping vuln and weak up. I didn't really utilize Sakura Reveries as much as I could have because it was not needed. I used Tawil wheel here to be able to hold up to 3k keyflare since this team generates a boatload of keyflare and you want to double posse every turn to scale 24 up. The stage relic was pretty nice for 24 since she benefits pretty nicely from base damage.
Aigis normally lives on my Ghelot team since usually I'm dying on turn 2 from taking a hit on turn 1 and Crimson Shackling but I decided to try for Aigisless Ghelot because I felt another team needed her a lot more. I like Daff because her exalt can create 0 cost cards that apply weak/vuln, draw 1, give the team aliemus, or give 1 arith while also adding a copy to Ultra turn which lets you enter ultra turn faster which was very useful to build more flails, regenerate keyflare, and giving me breathing room. Daff's soulforge also increases the rate you can find discounted relics which is nice too especially on maps with multiple shops. Leigh's exalt came in cluth a few times to stop me from dying too since she heals more the lower your hp is. The stage relic was also amazing for Ghelot since I'm pretty sure the base damage from the relic is multaplicative instead of addative with the base damage Ghelot gains from her rouse.

Note for cards that Pickman paints, that they will show up in your hand in the order that they show up in your skill screen. Ie strikes and defenses will always be the leftmost cards and skills the rightmost when you have multiple painted cards in hand.

The first mob fight in this wave is actually hot garbage oh my god. I hate the stupid cats and they were unironically harder than the boss. Getting strength downed twice, and then punished for hitting the mobs at all is no bueno. I pushed my birds to level 80 this wave and then ended up taking 0 DRs so I do think it would have been possible at a lower level. I saved a lot of my wheel power budget for this wave since I was expecting it to be awful and because of how nasty the first mob fight was. I ran Aigis here because I needed to stun the mobs and I wanted to leave the option open to stun Pickman during his big hit while you are vuln to avoid a DR since I was not sure how fast I would be killing the boss. Rewinding time is on Aigis for a chance of bringing her 3 cost back to hand in order to draw Sacred Hearts though she is not really the best user of it, it's just that the units that could utilize it better didn't need it.

Pretty standard Lemurian comp though I typically run Faros in this comp for consistent draw and self vuln removal instead of Tulu. I mobbed for this clear but I've definitely seen some straigh to boss clears with E3 Gmuprhy on this wave since her portrait is so busted.
As always, I hope this writeup was helpful for showing people that A5 Dtide does not have to be super scary and also gives yall some ideas. Thank you so much for if you have read this far and feel free to ask questions or give feedback. Please do not take my teams as reference for what the 'strongest team' is as they are usually the most starving version of a team comp that still is able to function rather than the best team since 425 Dtide is about managing your limited resources.
Pontos is very strong at E3 and so much fun to play. This was an awesome boss battle with my Pontos version.
For Pontos as a secondary wheel, I use Stakes of Wisdom because it has high Crit Damage. I also really enjoy playing Scarlet Embrace as a Covenant on him. It has 4.8% Crit Rate on the 3-set, which is kind of a bummer. However, since its X card always crits, I consistently generate 270 Keyflare with it.
The thing with April Tribute, which I see most of the time, is that the Crit Damage bonus from the effect only works on his X card and does not scale with his E1.
Corpo lacks Crit Rate quite heavily, so +12 Sunfall paired with the Aurita wheel is a perfect option. You will also scale your Tentacle damage quite nicely, and fights can be long because of all the Strength Down from Pontos.
Daffodil is my Keyflare bot, and I only chose her 4-cost card. It has insane utility and generates tons of Keyflare. Heart of Silver is perfect on her because you can further scale your Tentacle damage, since you play at least one Posse each turn.
Happy Magic Show on Casiah is perfect: even more Keyflare!!! The DR wheel on Casiah was something I simply forgot to change, but at least I reached 300% DR, so I still got the full max health bonus from it.
Note that I was able to do almost 1 million damage within one turn, so Pontos can definitely be your main carry at E3.
I did one huge misplay by not rousing Corpo, so I needed the 45% DR proc. But for sure, it would have been possible without it.

Question I've been wondering since his x cost is guaranteed to crit. I have a +8 Karen, so I'm thinking of stall long enough then burst his X Cost once I got all three Karen's card. Would probably complete the team with E3 GMurphy & E0 Miryam.
My Pontos is at E0 right now, but I'll gladly invest hard on him if this particular play style is feasible enough.
Thanks in advance.
I struggle with aequor. I see all the tentacles and get extremely distracted thinking about them. It is an official ADA disability.
my “goal” for blue week is to overcome my tentacle fixation and flop gently onto the required rewards like a fat cat who has given up on life but found a soft bed
so
W1 - Thais Caecus Faint Vortice, my go to “Im literally stupid and licking my iPad but feel like winning” team. Fran is scary generally in all variants, so may as well pick a team that does % max damage and can literally never die. now who’s deathless Fran? it’s not you
W2 - Mouchette and friends. NGL, I don’t fully get mouchette, or rather her intensity of scaling with DR triggers makes me feel like each play is slightly save scummy? Either that or I‘m extra bad with her.
W3 - Actually made an effort to Xu this wave and came close to winning, simply because it‘s saved as “W3 team”. Did not work. Is piling in a purely defensive kath and a whaled Arachne cheating or lazy? Absolutely
W4 - Gmurphy orbital nuke with blue leftovers. I almost had a thought somewhere about saya use and how Gmurphy is probably excessive here given a built Sanga, but then whacked my head on my desk until the thought passed
W5 - Borrowed a second gmurphy nuke with the lemurians, swapping in normal Murphy just to be extra invincible. Executed burst turn really poorly but pickman died anyhow.
Clem was taking the week off, she said something about it being our honeymoon and we have a nice trip for her insects to consume my brains. also unable to use tawil this week, as my doctor advises that her thighs cause me high blood pressure
could these same resources produce a 425 in the hands of a mildly competent player? Yes. Will they in mine? Definitely not at this rate.
is there a “Verified Worst 400“ flair available?
What the title says, i have all the characters and always stop al level 5, since i want to reach 400 on dtide on a consistent manner i would like to know which characters you think are the best to raise or should have priority

Morimens can feel like a blend of an ARPG and a Card Game. How should you build your teams? We explore building like an ARPG vs building like a Card Game.
Wave 1: Make suke to take teams with multiple chunky hits, the boss has ton of DRs. Only 1 mandatory fight.
Wave 2: Only 1 mandatory fight and a boss thats a raw dps check with nothing much to say.
Wave 3: Reading carefully the boss effects and playing around it makes it 10 times easier. For exemple fully shielding turn 1 damage is key.
Wave 4: Tons of fortress people so we bring the big gun herself.
Wave 5: I have no idea what the boss does he got one shot by whale GMurph with 1500k sacrifice
