Repeatedly getting the common cold every 3-5 weeks, help?

So essentially, I’ve been getting sick with some variation of the common cold / head cold every 3-5 weeks this past Autumn/Winter. And it SUCKS.

I’ve been taking my armour force, drinking my immunity juice and orange juice, going on daily walks, wearing warm clothes when the temperature js low, and still I keep getting sick.

For context I am F25, 163cm, 68kg, non smoker, on birth control and iron tablets and vitamin d, living with PCOS/PMOS on GLP1 meds for it, and this has been happening for the last 5 or so months. My question is:

  1. What blood tests / general tests should I request to figure out what’s going on?
  2. What else should I add to my daily routine to build up my immune system so I’m less susceptible to this common cold?

I will say, there is a chance it could be burnout too after a big few months of work and a short stint as a caretaker, but I feel like it may go deeper than that.

Any help is appreciated! Thank you 🙏

bladder is back! now what?

hi all! Some of you may have been following our little boots’ journey, well after 8 days of GS treatment (and some kitty Valium to help his bladder relax) he’s back to peeing!

we are so beyond relieved, now the next step is managing this. he’s been running around lots now since he’s excited to have his leg function back, but he doesn’t seem to be able to turn off the peeing. and diapers aren’t fitting him.

any advice is appreciated! 🐈‍⬛

Using both GS and Molnupiravir for bladder control?

Hi all! Boots is 7 days on GS and an absolutely trooper with improvements all around in his neuro FIP, excluding bladder control.

Our vet said not to worry as it takes 2-3 weeks to regain bladder control, but as a proactive measure, they’re keen to swap him from 0.5ML every 12 hours to 0.4ML every 8 hours.

They’re also considering putting him on molnupiravir in 5 days time, and daily bladder expression until he regains control to ensure he’s not stretched or getting secondary issues.

The thing that’s shaken my partner and I is that they said it’s a 50/50 if he regains bladder control or not. If he doesn’t regain control, it’s implied euthanasia will be the most ethical thing. I’m trying not to worry until we hit the 2/3 week mark, but it’s definitely tricky to hear it put that plain and simply.

Has anyone been on a similar plan to help their kitty regain bladder function? Or used both GS and molnupiravir at the same time? Any stories or advice is appreciated. Thank you 🫶

7 day update: great progress but still no bladder…

hi guys! our baby boy boots has had some incredible progress these last 7 days, including:

- perkier personality; way more alert
- eating so so much!
- being playful again with toys and his brother
- regaining some balance
- regaining some tail movement
- strength returning to his right hind leg (left is still not strong but he still responds to touch)
- pooping twice all by himself!!!

however he’s not really understanding that his bladder is full. we’ve had his bladder expressed once a day this past week and today we were instructed to let him fill up and see if his brain responds, but… nothing. and he yelps when I try manually express him, it kinda works and I know I’m doing it right but the vet said to just let him overflow for tonight and to come in the morning.

i thought after 7 days of continued progress each and every day, today would be pee day 😔

any advice on getting this little guy to pee / a timeline would be much appreciated.

extra info: doctor said if poop function comes back, bladder should come shortly after… but it’s not happened yet :(

day 4 of neuro FIP, not walking yet… help?

hi guys! just wanted to see if it was normal for kitty not to be walking again (even wonkily) by day 4. He’s on 0.5ML twice a day, and while his appetite has improved lots and his mood/affection/playfulness is up, he still can’t walk yet which our vet said should happen by day 3-5. he’s regaining back leg strength and can use them to push himself while crawling but that’s all.

any help is appreciated! 🫶🐈‍⬛

other info: he’s been able to clench his bum, and his bladder can resist the vet when she’s trying to express him, and can move his tail - all hopeful signs, I just thought walking would come first 🥲

kitty is resisting bladder expressing - good or bad sign?

hi guys! our little boy has been having daily bladder expression (day 3 of GS) and today the vet said he was feeling his bladder muscles resisting, aka when the vet pushed down he was clenching like “no! I don’t wanna pee!”. When the vet checked his bum he also clenched it, so are these positive signs? or should I brace myself for something worse?

Perkiness, appetite and general attitude wise he’s responded really well to GS so far, just awaiting that bladder and poop function. Thanks in advance! 🐈‍⬛

UPDATE: He’s regaining tail control! I was playing with it and he snatched it back, so proud of him 🥹

Just started GS! How quickly does it take to kick in?

Hi all! Some of you have been following Boots’ story, in great news we just got him his GS and took his first dose today with another dose this evening.

I’m curious to see how long it took your cat to improve after taking medication? Some people say hours, others say days, just wanting to see the general consensus.

Also if they were 100% back to normal (walking, jumping, bladder and poop function) or if they still have some lingering symptoms.

He has neuro FIP so not sure if that means it’ll take longer.

Any help is appreciated! 🫶🐈‍⬛

UPDATE: Day 2 and he’s woken up wanting food! He’s only eating and drinking a little bit but it’s a big improvement to yesterday.

Getting some more back leg strength back, it’s still very weak but he’s crawling around the place way more compared to not being able to move yesterday.

We gave him GS 12 days after he started showing symptoms, just hoping he can regain bathroom function so we can give him a good quality of life 🫶

UPDATE: Day 5 and he’s pooped!!! Hoping this means bladder function is on it’s way 💩

Cat getting the shakes… FIP meds are 20 hours away

Previous poster here, still waiting on FIP meds to arrive tomorrow and our baby boy is starting to shake… he’s better when he’s in the sun or in blankets, partner suspects he’s just cold but I’ve had cats before and know this isn’t a good sign.

torn between taking him to emergency today or waiting for the meds to arrive tomorrow.

It’s not confirmed FIP but he fits all the descriptions and AIDS and cancer have been ruled out.

Any help is appreciated… this medication could not come soon enough 🙏

Did we catch Neuro FIP too late?

Hi all. We noticed our baby boy walking a bit wonky last week but our vet was unfazed, yesterday he started flopping so we took him to a different vet and found out it could be a multitude of things, one of them being potentially FIP. So it’s not even confirmed but it’s our best shot.

Both back legs aren’t great, his bladder isn’t working, but we’re going to trial medication tomorrow if we can get our hands on it before the weekend (our vet has emphasised the urgent nature of this medication to the supplier).

We hope we can start medication tomorrow and that that will help (if it’s even FIP in the first case), but I’m wondering have we caught it too late?

TLDR what stage of FIP ataxia symptoms was your cat at before treatment, and was said treatment successful?

Any help is appreciated

Seeking advice for thick, wavy, oily hair

Hi everyone, I’d love your advice! Particularly from girls with thick oily wavy hair.

My hair is wavy, thick, with oily roots but dry ends. I use Redken All Soft shampoo and conditioner, but lately my roots don’t feel fully clean after washing, and my ends stay dry. I’m unsure if I’m using too much or too little product. I also feel my hair isn’t drying properly, my Vassoon hair dryer doesn’t seem to give the right heat, and the round brush it came with isn’t effective. Even my old metal round brush isn’t working as well now.

Plus, I haven’t had a haircut in a year, and I feel overwhelmed by the thickness. I’m not sure what the issue is, is it the shampoo and conditioner products, the drying and brushes, or purely the length and thickness I’ve let it get to? Or is it all 3? Any help is appreciated!
