Local Food Rec

My little sister is coming to SF for a very short stay. She’s Italian. It’s her first time in California. She’s simple and casual.

I sent her three cans of Boudin chowder. She loved it. ‘The soup,’ she called it.

I’m thinking of supper at Hog Island. Or Scoma’s. Or the Crab House.

Any recommendations for local fare food?

But... BUT... I was a REGULAR AT THAT GAS STATION FOR A DECADE!

Sadly this post was deleted before I could share it with you fine people. Anyways SFKaren apparently got used to this gas station topping off her oil (which I haven't seen a gas station do since 1982) and because they didn't do it for her ONE time she is NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN.

My guess is they've been doing it for her this whole time just to shut her up and finally their insurance told them to cut it out.

The title of THIS post is from that original post

50 years old (F) and SO GLAD TO BE CHILDFREE!!!

I've been wanting to put up this post for a while, but I'm actually turning 51 in two weeks, so today feels like the day.

I was always kind of a "fence sitter". I might have had a child. I even think I might have been very good at it. But it was never a "have to". As things worked out, the circumstances were never good (difficult family, medical conditions, did not meet the right partner...) but I'm not sorry.

I have a great life and have accomplished so much that I WOULDN'T have with children. Traveled the US alone for two months. Got a master's degree in molecular biology. Have a wealth of friends and interests, and no regrets (although I AM pretty annoyed that I still occasionally get periods. This was not the agreement!!!)

I never picture "what if I had a child". And I think there's a lesson for us in general in, making peace with WHATEVER our choices were, and looking forward to the future that we WILL have.

So (ladies/AFAB in particular) don't let ANYONE tell you 100% "you'll regret it". It's not true. EVERY choice in life will cut off another option. Having children will cut off plenty too! (I have a couple mom friends my age hinting they are jealous of my childfree life...) But for some reason, people/parents are particularly adamant on this point, in a way they wouldn't be if, say, you never made it as a DJ or snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef. Guess what? You simply had a different life. It's not complicated.

Cheers, and enjoy the life you have!

Where are the grammar lessons??? (Spanish)

I am so upset right now. I was on Section 5 of Spanish but haven't touched it in like half a year. So I was going through the old grammar lessons (the notebook icons).

As of today THEY HAVE ALL CHANGED! The old ones are gone, and there is no grammar at all. They only have "key phrases". I want the verb conjugations, direct objects, etc. laid out for me.

I am seriously considering canceling my Super plan.
