I have a family member who thinks my husband and I will be a bad influence on our cousin if he lives with us...

I 28f am plain and boring only plays dungeons and dragons the basic RPG, nothing relating to religion or anything of that sort. I lost my mother almost a year ago she liked crystals and witchy stuff and tarot cards. (She never did readings she liked the way they looked.)

Her sister (my aunt) we'll call her "Posie" youngest son we'll call him Emerson 17m wants to live with my husband and I after he turns 18..She has the thought that we use tarot cards and do witch craft which is not true. We've never done it in our lives and wouldnt even know where to begin if we did. Plus with our busy work and school schedules we never have time to relax or do anything. Posie thought we will be a bad influence on Emerson because of that. Where she got that opinion.. no idea maybe since my mother liked it she though we did too? I work at a church as a teacher, witchery isn't my style.

We have a friend who plays dungeons and dragons with us and Emerson every weekend, who works with my husband at Walmart we'll call him "James" he's 52m, straight, divorced due to a cheating wife, also has a 17yr son. We've known him for a year he went to culinary school and was a cop. He came over to vent to my husband and I about when he was a cop. My grandmother heard and instantly said she doesnt like him. (She likes to listen in on people's conversations, and judges everyone for no reason without getting to know them or anything)

My grandmother told Aunt Posie about him and now she doesn't want Emerson to live with us because we offered to help James with a place to live in a few years (4 maybe 5 years into the future). Aunt Posie thinks James is a bad person and will r\*\*e Emerson.

I really want to stand up for James to my grandmother and Aunt Posie. But I dont want to risk losing the connection I have with my cousin since he's in the middle. Aunt Posies, and my grandmothers crazy opinions and thoughts are really starting to irritate my husband and I because they're judging him with no facts or evidence of what they're saying.

What should I do?
