These toads... they won't stop looking at me.

I think Bambu Lab's clicker creator is going to make some designers lose subscribers.

I just tested Bambu Lab's new clicker creator, and honestly, I think it's going to eat into the subscriber base of designers who specialize in clickers. The tool works flawlessly – you upload an image, tweak colors, paint, extrude different sections at custom heights, and turn a 2D image into a 3D printable clicker. It's a game-changer, and I can see many creators losing subscribers because of it.

100 subscribers in just my first month on Patreon.

I've been on Patreon for a month now, and I've already hit 100 subscribers! I know it's not huge, but I'm honestly thrilled – I think it's a solid start for something brand new. Only 5 of them are paid, but I'm hoping to grow that over time. What's the average number of subscribers people get in their first month? Do you think 100 is decent? I see creators with tens of thousands, but hey – I'm celebrating my first 100!

It's incredible how a simple color change can completely transform a 3D model

I originally designed this OOglees in black, looking for an elegant, dark, and slightly intimidating look.

The geometry and optical effect are exactly the same, but switching to pink completely changed the "personality" of the piece.

It went from having a wild, mysterious, and serious vibe in black to a bold, playful, and highly expressive personality in pink.

They're 3D printed in separate parts.

Seeing them side by side makes me realize how much we sometimes underestimate the impact of the final color choice on a character.

Which one do you like more? The Black Panther or the Pink Panther?

Does it remind you of the famous cartoon character?

Redesigned the same model and went from 4 prints in 15 days to 200 in 7 days – here's how.

Thank you, Maker World, for motivating creativity. 16 months and 100,000 points.

Well, I'm really happy! Yesterday I surpassed 100,000 points on Maker World, after 16 months on the platform since I bought my first A1.

I've been in the 3D printing world since 2012. I still remember when I assembled my first Prusa i3. Back then, there was Thingiverse, Arduino Mega, Pololus, glass beds, and endless hours and rolls of filament just to calibrate and adjust your printer. Now it's just one click.

What I never imagined back then was that I could make money on a platform similar to Thingiverse. I just uploaded "silly stuff" for fun, but my surprise came when I bought my first Bambu Lab A1 and registered on MakerWorld, in mid-March 2025—today, 16 months ago.

At first, I was excited about the points. I did all the steps to scrape those 10 little points they gave you for doing the tutorial and other things.

I never thought that just over a year later I'd be earning between 100 and 300 points daily, that printing would be completely free for me, and even better, that even the printers would end up being free.

I truly believe that Maker World's philosophy and points system is something unique and spectacular, and that the community—the family—created within Maker World through tokens and points really helps keep you motivated to keep creating.

On top of the points, I've won 4 contests, and the environment has been very motivating. I'm convinced that if I weren't getting the benefit I get from the points, I wouldn't have designed the things I've designed, because I was on Thingiverse for over 10 years and never had that motivation to create.

Thanks to Maker World, I've developed my creativity, because I've put effort and dedication into creating interesting things—creativity I already had before, but it wasn't motivated.

The bottom line is that I think Maker World's points system is an excellent way to motivate the creation of new designs, because when you get a benefit from your work, you dedicate more time and care to it, and you don't feel like you're "working for free."

Thank you, MakerWorld, for motivating creativity. I'm convinced there are thousands of designers in my situation who feel and create things because they feel valued. That's why I think it's the number one platform on the market and where the most exclusive models exist.

After dozens of tests, I've finally found the sweet spot for OOgles.

A while ago I shared my first OOglee designs here: an Owl and a Snake with eyes that appear to follow you as you move around them.

Since then, I’ve been refining the effect through dozens of tests. I’ve learned that it is much more sensitive than it initially looks: the shape of the recessed eye, its depth, the distance between both eyes, their placement, and the viewing angles all make a huge difference.

More depth can create a stronger following-eye effect, but it also reduces the range of angles where it works well. Finding the balance between a convincing effect and a wide enough viewing angle has been the real challenge.

With my latest designs, I feel I’ve finally found that sweet spot. The Panther in this video is one example of the newer approach.

I’ve also gone back and updated the original Owl with these new eye adjustments, so the free version now reflects the improved design.

I’d love to hear what you think: does the effect look more convincing from the angles shown here? And what animal would you like to see next?

Project OOglees | Optical illusion that follows you with its gaze.

Here I am again with the second installment of my OOGLEES project! The first was the owl, which taught me a lot about how concave geometry affects the tracking illusion.

With this snake, I've adjusted the tolerances and optimized the curves so that the "tracking" effect is much more pronounced and persistent. I've also structured the design to make it easier to print with color changes if you don't have an AMS (Analog Multi-Material System), although I've also included the figure as a single painted piece for multi-color printing.

I encourage you to download it! The effect is really fun!

From Complete Ignorance to Dividing My Models: The Challenge of Adapting the "Eyes That Follow You" Effect for Non-AMS Printers.

I recently published some designs with a striking visual effect called "Eyes That Follow You" (where the figure appears to follow you with its gaze). The response was excellent, but I ran into a problem many pointed out: color is key to achieving the effect, and not everyone has an H2C or a multi-head system at home.

It bothered me that some members of the community couldn't print them, so I set out to solve it. The problem was that I had no idea how to dynamically divide a model into parts.

After a few intense days of courses, tutorials, and a lot of trial and error with Blender and Meshmixer, I finally succeeded. I adapted the model and created two versions:

- The classic version: Optimized for AMS/multi-head setups (one piece).

- The classic version: Optimized for AMS/multi-head configurations. -The new split version: Carefully designed so that anyone can print the individual pieces in color with a standard printer and then assemble them, maintaining 100% of the visual effect.

As this is my first dynamic split, I would greatly appreciate your feedback, especially if you spot any errors or areas for improvement (I've already noticed that the eye socket should be thinner).

Here's the link if you'd like to see the result or try the split version:

I hope you find it useful, and I'd love to see your prints!

By the way, I'm preparing a very interesting series with many different models that I'm currently working on.

I hope you enjoy it.

From Complete Ignorance to Dividing My Models: The Challenge of Adapting the "Eyes That Follow You" Effect for Non-AMS Printers

What price would you pay for a figure like this? (Figure already printed)

I'm creating a series of figures that follow your gaze. It's a very large collection with many models, and they create a truly impressive optical effect. I want to start selling them, but I don't know what price to set. They are 5 cm tall and printed in 5, 6, or 7 colors with a multi-head (H2C) printer. Any recommended price? Thanks!

I have some sample models on MakerWorld. I'll be launching a Patreon soon to access the full collection.

OOglees. Figures that follow you with their eyes.

🦉 Introducing the OOGLEES universe! Figures with eyes that never stop following you 👀. I have several collections already prepared, which I will be presenting little by little. For now, I present the owl from the "The Watchers" collection.
