CA TITLE 24 question

My Refrigeration company did a like for like, package AC swap for one of our customers. I replaced the pipe from the gas valve, back to the flare adapter that starts the flex line. I copied the original run. Upon permitting, they stated they wanted the drip eg after the shut off but before the flex line. All other units on the roof look like this. Other than “they asked”, what’s the reason to move the drip leg?

R452A for R404a

Am I the only tech using R452a as an R404a drop in? Especially on low temp walk in freezers. I am Not using R448 in any low temp installs/retrofits. R448 only on medium temp applications. I asked the TRENTON trainer and the guys at United Refrigeration, and they said “we don’t use R452a.” No explanation. It was like I asked the Pepsi sales guy where I could buy a Coke? Even most of the Reddit posts asking about R448 for R404 replacement and nobody mentions R452A.

SCOTTSMAN Superheat

Customer complains of slow ice production. Unit wasn’t level and a 6x6 section of ice was holding the curtain open. Easy fix. However, on my initial approach, the discharge line to the remote condenser was 151F. Seemed high to me so I attached low side and temp clamp. I have 53F to 60F total system superheat. That seems high for 62F ambient.1 800-SCOTSMAN is some poor company that is not SCOTTSMAN anymore. FYI it’s a remote condenser about 20 foot rise. Condenser fan is running and shuts off during harvest. ~14 min cycles, harvest to harvest. Overcharged?

Minimum Circuit Amps are higher than MOP?

I’m quoting installation of some refrigeration equipment. This 3Ph 460 volt condenser (sorry for the fuzzy pic) has MIN CKT AMPS at 19.25 and MOP of 15. Their in house electrician will be running power to the disconnect and I’ll be making the final connection. The evaporator on this circuit is rated for 4.89 amps with MOP of 20. How the heck is the little evap assembly rated for MOP 20 and the big condenser MOP 15? Help me understand RUSSELL’s (HEAT TRANSFER PRODUCTS GROUP) thought process. I’m just gonna recommend a 3 pole 20 amp breaker and disconnect. Will it explode? /s
