Do I need a window company or can this be done by a Handyman?

My husband just noticed this since the window is a loft space that we don’t use often. No idea what caused it to crack. Do we need to get a window company or can a handyman do this?

Job offers from the same agency?

Spouse has a TJO with a three letter agency and is waiting on suitability since mid July. Had an interview and reference check for a very different position in the same job series with the same agency. The second one is moving very fast (application closed, interview and reference check in two weeks). Assuming spouse gets a TJO for the second one, what is the process with two TJOs from the same agency? Should they tell job 2 that they are undergoing suitability for the other? Can they accept both? I’ve always seen advice to keep interviewing with TJOs.

Can I or should I max out my contributions in my remaining paychecks if I plan on retiring before the end of the year?

Negotiating after a TJO

When do you negotiate leave…before or after signing TJO? Can you negotiate probation if prior Fed in same series with a few years break?

I finally hit my breaking point…talk me off the ledge.

Sitting on the train. There is a tree down and no crew here yet to remove it. Looking at getting home who knows when. Normally I would wake up at 3:30 am and start all over again for my two hour commute but I can already see I will be too tired so will call in sick (normally I get four hours of sleep on work nights). My front line and leadership are completely inflexible. No telework bc we can’t be trusted…have to take leave if the train is delayed bc somehow that is my fault. I cannot do this anymore. 20+ years and just hit my MRA +10, Vet, with a marketable industry skill that I really don’t want to go back to but can easily. Talk me off the ledge…

Update: Still on the train…four hours now

Traffic enforcement

A few things I’ve noticed while driving in Fredericksburg lately. I’ve replaced two windshields this year due to work trucks throwing rocks and debris. I think by law they are supposed to be covered but the cloth cover that some have is waving in the breeze and doesn’t cover anything. Can the Fredericksburg commercial enforcement folks do anything about this? Also, twice in the last week while sitting at the same intersection (1 and 17), I smelled marijuana since I usually don’t have the air recirculating in my vehicle. To each his own and I don’t care what people do in the privacy of their own home. But both occasions I looked to my right and see a car where the windows are up and both the driver and passenger are smoking. My concern is the same as if they were drinking and driving. Am I the only one that experienced this?

Normally these are good signs…but?

Applied, tested, referred, interviewed, reference check (3weeks). Recently saw the same job posted. Friend (previous Fed with no issues) knows references were contacted and said great things. What’s the likely scenario? Hiring additional positions? Not interested in hiring friend? Not related at all?

My Dad…

This weekend will be one year since he passed. This was taken when he was a Navigator candidate in TX around the late 50s. I always told my mom what a catch he was as he was quite handsome! She of course agreed…

Already sent “demand letter” via email. Is it worth having a lawyer do it or should I go direct to small claims?

Location: Virginia USA

I paid a fee to help with a disability claim. There were issues with the portal and timely responses so I thought I was getting scammed and filed a dispute with my credit card company. The company never did anything for me. Company said they would refund my money if I withdrew the dispute. Let the dispute play out and was ruled in their favor due to some misrepresentation on their part. Sent the letter closing the dispute to the company and now crickets. Sent a formal demand email (AI assisted) highlighting their refund promise and nothing. Now ready to move forward with a small claim suit. Will a formal demand letter signed by an attorney be worth it or should I go direct to a small claims filing? Both cost close to the same amount.

Question on FEHB vs Tricare

I see a lot of posts on here about FEHB worth x amount in retirement. My husband is retired military and we are both Vets eligible for VA healthcare. He is over 65 and currently uses Medicare with Tricare as a supplement and VA for certain things. I’m younger and still a Fed planning to retire in the next three years. I have Tricare Prime and use the VA for certain things. We have Delta Dental and BCBS vision. Am I missing something? Is there any reason I would sign up for FEHB?

Started with a tiny chip and the “repair” made it a five inch crack that is still spreading. I signed a waiver acknowledging that the chip might get bigger but this big? FYI…the initial chip was literally tiny and not near the edge.
