My wife scratched the back window of her new truck
For some reason, she put her mountain bike in the truck bed with the handlebar touching the glass… Anyway I can make this look less noticeable?

Hello ,
Something chipped my windshield and I wanted to advice if I have to replace it all or can the chip be repaired ? If so, how ?
Was a 2019 silverado that the customer obviously bought from auction. He was rebuilding it to use as a farm truck, the pinchweld looked okay when I pulled down the headliner. But I wanted nothing to do with this truck.
Genesis g80 electrified with full options meaning it has a camera and other sensors on the top inside part of the windshield
Hi,
I had my car parked outside. It’s about 100 degrees here. Went to get in my car and whole back of my window is blurry.
What do I do? I don’t feel like this a dealership problem but maybe it is
I am looking for a new windshield for my 1992 Buick Park Avenue (base model).
Based on the VIN number, I keep ending up with a windshield that doesn't fit.
Registers say it should be DW01105 (compatible with DW01134, DW01135, DW01136 for 1992-1996). The sides do not curve sufficiently inwards. (see photos).
I have discovered that my car consists of various components from 1991. Could it be that a different windshield model was used for the first production year 1991 for this model Park Avenue? And which one might that be?
Hey everyone,
Safelite came to my house and replaced my 2015 Honda Civic SE windshield yesterday. After he left I noticed the trim near the roof was a little messed up.
I found some older posts here on Reddit and lot of people said it’s purely cosmetic and not an issue but I wanted to double check.
Florida has a law that you get a free windshield repair/replacement if you have comprehensive insurance.
So since it was free I don’t want to be a “Karen” and have them fix a cosmetic issue. But if it could be something more I would want it to be fixed.
The technician told me they have a full warranty if there is any issues and that I have to wait a few days to wash my car. So I plan to wash my car and see if it leaks at all.
2021 Bronco Sport. I have used Safelte several times in the past without issue. The same local office. Get the windshield replaced. Original tech actually arrived ahead of time. Called to ask if he could come early. Got the job done. Only issue was he broke a clip on camera cover. Common no big deal. I have extra clips on hand. Took me 2 min to fix although would have been nice for the tech to let me know rather than leave the camera cover hanging. Not a huge deal.
Next day wife takes it to works. Calls me stating windshield is creaking and squeaking. I get home from work and sure enough it’s creaking worse than an 87 Omni. I’m OCD about squeaks and rattles so definitely know wasn’t like that before.
Call Safelite. CSR was able to get a warranty appointment. Tech, different one, calls at 2pm saying he’ll be there in an hour. It gets to be 5pm. No text, no calls, no tech. So finally about 5:30pm or so van pulls up. Fine -doesn’t matter let’s get her done.
Explain the issue. I don’t think he was totally getting it so I said let’s do a ride along. Take a little drive and he’s “yes I hear the noise”. Then he’s like well it’s been 9 days since the repair and it takes 10 days for the adhesive to cure. Tells me if you’re still having an issue call back in couple days. Now I get curing part. It’s summer. Yeah maybe in the winter. Does one day make difference or why just schedule warranty work within 10 days. Anyway - whatever. Basically I think it was late in the day and he didn’t to do the job. If that was the case why not just LMK you’re running way behind and need to reschedule.
Here’s the lie. I get email from Safelite “your repair has been completed”. I look at the receipt and the tech notes state - quoting exactly: “Didn’t hear no wind noise” Dude we went on a ride along and you acknowledged my issue. Now I feel like I’m going be in “he said you said” loop with Safelite. Why not tell the truth-“heard squeaking-adhesive may not be cured customer will call back if issue persists”. For sure I’m calling State Farm to voice a complaint and ask them not to pay the claim until I’m satisfied. Now a second warranty appointment will be needed.
I know there are industry pros on this sub and maybe some younger techs starting out in the business. Please be honest with your customers. If you’re running behind and can’t get the job completed just reschedule. You might save yourself a callback (or two), a negative review, a negative social media post, or have an insurance claim/payment issue. Please honestly acknowledge customer issues. Callbacks are unavoidable. How you deal with them is what separates the hacks in van from the true industry professionals.
Update: Went down to the local Safelite shop. Tech came out and it took him about 15 seconds to tell me the glass was not decked properly. He wasn’t sure why the other tech didn’t just pull the glass as problem was very obvious. Didn’t need a ride along to diagnose. Any way they are ordering new glass and I have an appointment set for a couple days from now. Same tech that checked my issue today doing the work. Not happy about multiple trips however feel good about the problem being acknowledged not getting more run around.
Morning I drove to my office and didn’t notice anything, but in the afternoon I saw a crack in the window. The car was parked outside in an open area, and I don’t remember any road debris hitting it on the way in. Could this be a manufacturing defect? The car is a Lyriq 2024 Sport 3 model and still under 50,000 miles / 4-year warranty. What kind of repair cost should I expect? I have a high-deductible insurance policy, so I may need to handle this outside of insurance. Any advice would be appreciated.
There are small holes and gaps in the black (seal?) part at the top of either corner, and there are some hard plastic+rubbery pieces on the bottom corners tucked into the hood. One is ripped and both don’t seem to be completely attached.
Are these issues or nothing to worry about?
It is a 2020 Honda Civic.
Just had the windshield replaced on my 2017 Civic LX and I've found myself becoming that customer who has never looked this closely at his windshield before suddenly analyzing everything. Was hoping ya'll could just give me some peace of mind or if any of this is actually concerning or easily fixed.
My biggest concern is the first few pictures there's a bump on the edge of the glass. It almost looks like a chip but it seems like a lil swoosh upwards and then there's a bump of glass. You can see in the first picture how it dips on the under side, and then picture 4 really captures how its an extra bump of glass on top with like a hard edge. I'm concerned if that could end up causing me problems in the future or if its just cosmetic.
The weather stripping(?) in the corner there also just looks completely wrong, both off the glass and not filling the space at all. There's also gaps in it in a couple places, picture 5 is the top of the windshield and you can see the weather stripping is coming up, and picture 6 its on top of the cowl (this is the drivers side edge). Not sure if that one I can just stick something in there to push it down? I'm scared to mess anything up. Picture 7 is how it looks on the opposite side under the cowl.
The last pictures are of the cowl not being flush with the car anymore. There's a decent gap in there and it wiggles now when it was flush before, not sure if that's easily fixable either or if that's not concerning?
Appreciate any input or if I'm just over thinking all this!
Edit: Oh also forgot to mention, they threw in wipers for rescheduling on me twice (I have new ones on the car so I just kept them) but they gave me the wrong size for one of them, so now I have it in my head if the windshield is correct or not at all... though its probably just an honest mistake.
I'm waiting to here back from the shop owner but thought I'd share. I spoke to the manager and was basically told "that's how it comes" Notice the gasket is just snaking around, full inch gaps, half inch gap right at the top center.
So it seems that they can't? / won't do anything for a week to let the glue dry. I was planning on going on a camping trip this weekend but I'm not even sure it's safe to drive on highway. I feel like it's just going to catch the wind and fly off or something. Do you think it's safe for highway or no way?
The windshield trim of my 2019 Ford Explorer is flaking off (dry rot?) and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this. Is it possible to replace just the rubber trim, or will I have to have the whole windshield replaced?
I am interested in knowing what each of these codes mean
Hello everyone, caught this one today. Is this a windshield chip or nick? If so, how should i fix it or i can safely ignore it? TIA 🙏 this is my first time encountering this
Why is the SafeLite calibration only covered for 30 days? Nobody told me about this otherwise I would have paid up the $300 extra for the OEM. What do I need to test, lane assist cameras, what else?
Took our 2025 Kia Sportage in back in October 2025 for a windshield repair, which turned into a full replacement. We had no idea that the Forward Collision Assist camera was improperly calibrated afterward — there was no warning light, no indication anything was wrong. It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago, about eight months later, that my wife was involved in a minor, no-damage bump at an intersection, which is when we started testing the FCA system and discovered it wasn't working at all.
We took the car straight to the Kia dealer, who confirmed the camera had been misaligned during the windshield replacement back in October. They told us to contact Safelite directly. When I went into this location in person, I was told the camera was only for lane assist, not FCA — then, when I pushed back, they suddenly admitted the two systems actually work together. They offered to "recalibrate" it for $495, despite the fact that proper calibration should have been part of the original windshield replacement eight months earlier.
I called Safelite corporate, who arranged for a technician to go to the dealership (literally down the street from this location) to resolve it. A service appointment was confirmed for Monday between noon and 6pm, so we left the car at the dealer for four more days waiting on it. The Kia service rider, Chris, stayed at the dealership the entire day specifically to meet with the Safelite tech. No one ever showed up. This morning, someone from this location finally called, admitted the appointment had been scheduled but that they simply never made the trip, and told us to bring the car to them instead. I explained we weren't going to move the vehicle from the dealer for safety reasons, since a functioning collision assist system matters, and that if this wasn't resolved within a reasonable timeframe I'd have no choice but to file a small claims action to recover the cost of the recalibration and any other expenses tied to their error. At that point the rep got belligerent, talked over me for several sentences without letting me get a word in, and hung up.
At this point, this isn't just an inconvenience to my wife and me — it cost the dealership a full day of their service rider's time for an appointment Safelite never bothered to keep. The disconnect between this franchise location and Safelite corporate is significant — it feels like dealing with two entirely different companies. I run a service business in Augusta with 31 years in operation, and I would never let a customer, or another business, be treated this way: misled about basic facts, bounced between departments, given a no-show appointment, and then hung up on for simply stating my rights.
I chose Safelite specifically because of their reputation with embedded vehicle technology — I'd previously used independent shops without issue. Based on this experience, I can't recommend this location. A safety-critical camera went uncalibrated for eight months with zero warning to us, and when we finally caught it, the fix was confusion, contradiction, a wasted day for the dealership, and a tech who escalated to hostility rather than just doing her job.
I work at a local family owned business, and the SGC network makes it extremely hard for me to do business. I process probably 6 claims a day however they make me fight tooth and nail to get approvals and have to wait weeks. Then after that the short pay us and we have to fight with them again.
Sometime I will plug in the pricing code and they are trying to pay me penny’s on the dollar of what I charge normal customers for.
Does anyone else have this problem?
