Has everyone discovered protein fluff by now?

Macros in comments. I've made a double batch, so tailor to your carb-allowance (I'm fairly relaxed if the protein level is good).

Double batch

150g berries of choice (strawberries here)

150g ice cubes

(or 300g frozen berries if your relaxed macros allow)

2 x scoops of vanilla (or preferred) protein powder

375ml of liquid (mine's a protein shake)

Sweetener to your taste levels.

Stixk in a spacious blender (it will at least double in volume) and blend until fluffy. This serving turns into about 2ltrs of chilled, fluffy dessert.

If your ice cubes haven't blended, just incrementally add more liquid (water, sf syrup, low carb milk) until it's all blended and fluffy.

Nothing for UK yet, but one step closer.

Belly button plugs - a comparison

I get that not everyone needs one, but some of us who've needed reconstruction do, so I thought I'd share my views. The fact that I have 3 types means clearly types one and two didn't quite hit the mark. All of these came in multiple sizes so you can build up to the BB size you want if needed.

From left to right, the order in which I bought /tried them :

- blue cone: too deep unless you already have a deep BB. Made mine bleed somewhat, because the compression garment pushed it all the way in through the day. Risky with a newly healing BB. Even the smallest width are still the same depth. 1/10.

- green marble: better, more shallow but leave it looking weirdly spherical (not really a surprise) and, if it goes more than half way in, can be a nuisance to get out unless it was well lubed. 5/10.

- white 'capped' plug: the best of the bunch, better aesthetic than the marble, not too deep, easy to remove because of the cap. Only downside is that the biggest size is still a little small but a small BB is better than no BB.

I've been wearing it 6 weeks (daily change and clean, still closing somewhat if left unplugged) so will see what surgeon says at my 12wk appt next week. My BB is quite red, so I don't think it likes it very much, but much like pierced ears, I imagine it needs to settle for a few weeks more before its accustomed to its new shape.

Swell hell - literal night & day

For all those asking 'is this normal', same underwear, same angle just one taken 11pm last night and one 8am this morning. 11wpo. And yesterday was only a 7k steps day, nothing much. And I'm still somewhat swollen this morning, this isn't one of my best mornings.

Yes, it's annoying. Yes, it'll go away. It just **feels** like an eternity.

Healthy lunch (mine, not his) - maple, date, pecan.

After 2 years, I don't measure any more, so I'll not label this a recipe.

Vanilla protein shake, half a pot of cottage cheese, sugar free maple syrup for the base, 4 dates as mix-ins then a pecan brittle (allulose) shard for crunch. About 55g of protein for the whole pot.

No, the dog's not getting any - Idon't fancy cleaning up after if he ate allulose.

FYI Juniper discount 15mg.

Just in case it helps anyone, I know Juniper isn't the cheapest, but worth a punt if you aren't in a rush for your next pen.

So, I went back to Juniper just before a recent operation, as they'd sent me a discount code. I then paused treatment due to surgery.

Completed a consultation about 10 days ago for my next pen but as I still had 3 doses left in current one, I didn't confirm/pay yet (I asked and they said my consultation was fine to just wait, despite daily automated reminders).

Today is got a 'please come back to us, have £89 off' email, so obviously I've just ordered my next 15mg pen (£250).

I won't be continuing when price reverts to £339, but I'm sure I'll periodically pop back whenever they send a code - their service is good and they can make pragmatic decisions, not just follow a preset script.

So if you want to try and just leave your completed consultation pending for a couple of weeks, might work for you too.

EDITED TO ADD: just had a follow-up email saying I qualify for free collagen after placing order. So rrp £399 (pinch of salt!) goods for £250.

Back brace for posture?

8wpo, FDL and lipo.

Has anyone used a back brace to gently keep you from hunching over by the end of the day? If so, was it helpful or problematic?

I can mostly walk upright but find myself hunching regularly after sitting, evenings, after exertion.

Just wondering if anyone used a brace to just help keep that upright posture and gentle stretching of upper back/shoulders.

Belly button plugs - changing/cleaning every day?

7wpo. Just checking what others are doing - the packaging on my belly button plug says to remove & clean every day. But taking off the tape each day can't be good for the still-tender flesh underneath, can it?

Just wondering if people had differing guidance or if we're all peeling tape off our poor BBs daily.

Protein powder and diet drink - sounds vile, tastes great!

So, my socials' algorithms know I like dogs, DIY and high protein recipes, and I've seen some bangers (the good and the bad).

For the record, I hate protein shakes made at home with protein powder - gritty, somewhat flavorless, sucks the potential joy out of mealtimes. I've tried, and so have a large tub of unused vanilla protein powder in my cupboard.

So, this popped up on my feed Saturday - a scoop of protein powder with a can of coke zero, sprite or other soda of your choosing. Shake well and drink. Make sure it's tightly closed when shaking, have LOTS of empty room in your shaker.

Sounds gross. But I have powder, so I'll try it. And I'm astounded.

Diet coke + vanilla powder tastes like an ice cream float.

Tropical fizz + vanilla tastes like solero.

As someone who resorts to protein puddings and crisps often, this is a lower calorie option that is very palatable.

So if you have some knocking around the house, maybe give it a go. It might surprise you.

I'm sure many other combos of powder and drink flavours will be enlightening.

But it's far easier to drink.

Feeling down post-op? Try your old clothes on!

That's it. Just try on your old clothes. Either your 'fitted perfectly' or 'too small' clothes.

In those first few, depressing weeks, when the swelling is rock hard and your skin is stinging, just try one old item on when you're down. And revel in the difference, especially knowing that it'll be even better in 6mths time.

And yes, I'm sure a small % of people here didn't lose any many inches with their tt, but for the majority of us, it just reinforces why we did this, at a time when we need a boost.

EDIT: OK, seems a few people have had opposite experiences, so let me rephrase - if you feel like crap, but objectively you know you're smaller post skin removal (mine was 11lbs of flesh!), trying on some of those smaller clothes can be a mental boost.

If you fall into the 'tighten' rather than 'chopped' category, it may take longer.

Paying my dues - 5wpo FDL & lipo

I've found it helpful and reassuring reading other people's posts and seeing their pics, so decided it was time to pay it forward.

Long way to go, but considering how swollen/rock hard my abdomen & hips are right now, I'm sure I'll be thrilled with the final result - I'm already wearing trousers I wasn't able to wear ever before ("... for when I lose weight....").

Lots of weird sensations that will fade (nettle rash sensation in lipo areas, full torso 'contractions' every morning when I wake up) but it improves week on week. It took until now to stand upright; if I drop something on the floor, it's 50/50 on whether I have the mental stamina to pick it up. Started driving at the weekend but in reality, I probably pushed myself a bit too far (light grocery shopping, 20 min walk into town) so backing off again for a week.

I would say my initial consultations failed to convey the scale of recovery needed, and this has been harder and longer than I expected, but I would still go through with it knowing what I know now.

For anyone considering an FDL, the incision goes up to midway between my boobs, about where the top of the cups touch. Higher than I expected but I'm not too bothered.

Whether I care enough about my saggy boobs to go through this again.... probably not, a good bra can do wonders.

And for the reprobates that trawl this forum, my DMs are closed, don't bother trying.

Torso 'burning' sensation - how long does it last?

I had lipo with my FDL 5wks ago - my torso is still very tender, feeling like nettle rash with every small movement.

I presume that's normal, but how long did that last for you?

Hunched over - what my surgery forgot to tell me!

This is for all of you post-op who are still walking like little old ladies after a couple of weeks.

I'm 5wpo, and the thing I've found hardest after the first week has been the back ache/being hunched over. I see lots of posts on here saying "standing upright at 8dpo" and I inwardly let out a string of expletives in frustration.

I accept we all heal differently and have different procedures. Mine was an FDL so I expect healing to take longer as it's more invasive.

However, 2 days ago, I messaged my surgery:

Me: should I still be hunched over by now?

Them: are you sleeping flat yet?

Me: no, because no-one told me I was allowed to

Them: oh, start gradually lowering your incline as much as you're able, but not so it hurts.

Nowhere in my notes does it say anything about reducing incline when sleeping to help straighten. I've seen posts in this forum saying "surgeon cleared me to sleep flat" so I've been waiting for my 6wk appt.

2 days of reducing my incline and I'm now upright. **2**. I could have been walking upright a week or two ago if someone had told me this. So I am both pleased and annoyed right now.

So check in with your surgery if you're still hunched when your incision seems to be healed, and ask when you can start reducing the pillow mountain.

Morrisons on Amazon app

Is it just me or is using Amazon for Morrisons just a shocking app experience?

Specify Morrisons? Bring up everything on Amazon irrespective of seller.

Go back to search results from product page? Nope, back arrow will take you back to Amazon home page to start again.

See prices in Search? Nope, need to select item; see prev point if you then decide you don't want that item.

It's an extreme exercise in patience, but as I can't drive right now and I really needed some stuff tonight, it's that or Uber Groceries at 50% markup.

Is there a trick/version of an app that works better?

FDL and lipo - when does the torso discomfort stop?

So, almost 4wpo. From about the end of wk1, my incisions haven't given me too much trouble. However, from 2dpo, I've felt like I had nettle rash/poison ivy across all of my front. Nothing visible, no redness or angry skin, just the sensation. As it's not just around incision sites, I'm assuming this is the lipo aftereffects.

How long did yours last? Looking to gauge the range across people so I can manage my expectations, because it's tedious.

Weight journey - when does it settle?

So, I know full well that swelling and fluid retention will need to settle before I achieve my final shape, but I'm wondering when people's weight settled in their new normal range.

I'm 3.5wpo for FDL and lipo. Went into surgery 67kg and had 5kg of skin and fat removed.

2dpo I was 70kg.

Today I'm back to 67kg, and I've been down at 66kg in between.

Like everyone, my skin feels like it's been rammed full of cement, and I know I've got 6-12months of healing/swelling ahead.

My maths brain (yes, it's a British brain, no need to correct the spelling) says that it should settle in the region of 62kg based on the removal. But I don't know if it's that simple.

Assuming your eating patterns didn't change and you went back to your pre-op exercise:

A) did you lose all your 'removal' weight? And

B) when did your new weight (whatever it was) stabilise post op?

I imagine many people are motivated to hit the gym harder post op, to see what their new potential is - I hope to do the same.

3wpo FDL - I mowed the lawn today!

Two days ago, I was depressed about lack of progress and bored out of my gourd.

Yesterday I made bread, did washing up, roasted a chicken

Today I mowed the lawn. Slowly, in 10min stints, resting in between. I don't have a grass basket to empty so it was basically walking around the garden with a walking frame.

For those others feeling depressed at lack of progress, I see you and empathise and can confirm you'll suddenly turn small corners, and every new thing you do will make you feel much happier.

Still not stood upright but fingers crossed that's not too far away.

PS don't tell my husband, he'll get really annoyed at me😂.
