Turtle nesting Season - will we see any ?

We’re moving to Buddina near the beach and got an alert about turtle nesting light requirements.

We’re new to the Sunny coast, is there a good chance we might actually see some turtles hatching or coming to nest ?

We have no intention of doing anything but observing from a distance but what an incredible experience

We’ve moved up here for the wildlife and general nature aspect, any other recommendations to see more wildlife ? Areas we can take family when they visit etc ?

Cheers

Switching from 482 visa to 417, could it impact PR applications?

Hi

Currently on a 482 visa which is due to expire this year a few months before I’ll be eligible to apply for PR. I have my partner as a dependent. My employer is happy to sponsor a further 482 visa but I am eligible to apply for PR a couple months after that.

Given the costs of 2 visas we are considering just applying for 417 visas. We are from the UK and work in healthcare so exempt from the 6 month rule. Both eligible for our own 417 visas

My only concern is would applying for PR with a dependant partner be impacted some how by switching to the 417 vs maintaining a 482 ? Or any other implications I’m unaware of ? Tax ?

Cheers

Place to live - maroochydoore or Varana

Moving to the Sunny Coast as a couple in our early 30s. We’ve found two properties that we like the look of, one in Varana and one in Maroochydoore

The Warana one is a bit smaller but walkable to the beach and better for work. Maroochydoore is nicer house but in the suburbs just off the motorway. We’re heard Maroochydoore is better recommended as a place for younger people to be and stuff to do.

Any thoughts on which one is better ? Would Varana be terrible for us and we’d be bored ? Any other places we should look ? Ideally we’d be close to the beach and walkable to cafes and restaurants

Cheers

Road Trip Update : Thoughts ?

You may have seen my previous post. We’re relocating up to the Sunshine Coast. Aim to do the drive over 4 days stopping in whatever accommodation we find. Just two of us, couple in our early 30s. In a few weeks

After loads of feedback we’ve opted for a mix of the inland routes since we’ve done the coastal road a fair bit and want to see more of Rural Australia. We just want a pretty drive with some cool sights we wouldn’t otherwise see. Ideally lots of wildlife and nature

Planning on driving up from Melbourne to Dubbo via Wangaratta and the Newell Hwy then turn off at Gilgandra up to lightening ridge and join Route 49 at St George before heading east to the Sunny Coast via Moonie, Dalby.

Good idea ? Never driven inland before. Any recommendations on places to stop overnight or must sees ? We’ve got a newish unmodified Triton if that matters

Which road trip would you do ?

Relocating to Sunny Coast from Melbourne. Doing the drive over 4-6 days staying in hotels or whatever we find along the way. We’ve already done the coastal drive before so thought we’d go inland and see a part of Australia we’d not normally see

Terrible idea ? Will it just be boring ? Any extra prep we’d need for it ?

Edit: We’re thinking of heading in land to see some Rural parts of the country we’ve not done before. Combining a mix of the suggestions : Heading along the middle route up to Dubbo along the Newell Highway then heading north to Lightening Ridge and up to the Route 49 at St George before heading East to the Sunny coast.

What do we reckon ?

Which Road Trip would you do ?

Relocating from Melbourne to the Sunny Coast, could do the drive over 4-6 days. We’ve already done the coast drive before so thought of doing one of the inland routes to see a part of Australia that we’d not normally see. We love a rural drive. We will be staying in hotels along the way or any sort of accommodation.

Terrible idea ? Which route would you pick ?

Can’t upload photos but we’re thinking of heading north from Melbourne via Hillston, Bourke to Cunnamulla then turning right towards the sunny coast

Another route which is halfway between that and the coastal road which goes via Dubbo
