Caravan park - 1 night stay
Hey guys,
My partner and I are organising a road trip in a campervan in October. Our mate is getting married about 8 hours away from Brisbane and our accomodation is camping, so we’re making a holiday of it and road tripping up and down the coast!!
Our last stop before Brisbane is Sunshine Coast, a Friday night in October and I’m just wondering if there are any caravan park recommendations for 1 night only in October on a Friday night?
At the moment trying to book online only gives a minimum of a 2 night stay, but our flight will leave Brisbane on Saturday 🥲
Dumb Dumb traffic lights
Coming down boomer mountain yesterday and got stuck at the intersection to the dump. Noticed traffic lights went green to non existent traffic. On the way back, same thing, traffic lights on green for about 20 seconds but no traffic coming from the retirement home st. Made me wonder why traffic lights have not kept up with technology to identify traffic patterns and when cars are waiting.
Tonight I see Moreton Council investing 170k to upgrade their traffic lights with AI. Surely that would have been a good investment by SCC. Just head down to the new CBD and prepare to be infuriated by red lights with no cars. All those data centres and LinkedIn posts about being the next silicon Valley when we can't even invest in tech
First home on the Gold Coast. Do I really need my own conveyancer?
I'm a first-time buyer. Found a house I love on the Gold Coast. The real estate agent seems nice and helpful, and most importantly, answers all my questions.
He said their lawyer will check everything like title searches, zoning and any possible issues with the property. He made it sound so simple
But my friends are warning me. They say I need my own conveyancer. Not the agent's lawyer. Apparently agents don't always have your best interests at heart
They mentioned things like unapproved structures like flood zone and easements. Stuff that could cost me money later if I don't catch it now
I found a few conveyancing firms and they have fixed pricing, which sounds good
But I'm still unsure. Is it really worth paying for my own conveyancer? Or can I trust the agent's lawyer to do the job? I don't want to spend money I don't need to spend. But I also don't want to make a stupid mistake on my first house
What did everyone else do?
Anybody know this Lily Jay Hinson? Apparently she grew up on the Sunshine Coast.
Early thirties, tried a musical career but is now apparently into grifting. Or at least has become the face of a fake charity-like organisation that generates AI content of its 'good works' (that don't exist).
11 nights on the Sunshine Coast in October with a 2.5-year-old – where would you stay?
Hi everyone,
We’re planning our first-ever trip to the Sunshine Coast this October and would love some local advice.
We’ll be there for 11 nights with our 2.5-year-old, travelling from South Australia. We’re after a holiday that’s a good balance of:
Beautiful nature and beaches
Relaxation (great cafés, nice accommodation, slower pace)
Fun family-friendly activities for a toddler
At the moment we’re tossing up places like Noosa, Coolum, Mooloolaba and Caloundra, but we’re completely open to suggestions. We’re tossing up between basing ourselves in one spot for the whole time or splitting our trip between two different locations.
We’re already planning to do Australia Zoo and SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast, but we’re especially keen to hear about the lesser-known spots that locals love.
A few questions:
Where would you stay for an 11-night trip?
Is 11 nights too long in one location, or would you split it between two towns?
What are the must-do nature experiences with a toddler? (Gentle walks, wildlife, beaches, lookouts etc.)
Any favourite playgrounds, cafés, markets, swimming spots or hidden gems?
Any day trips you’d highly recommend?
Are there any areas you’d avoid for a young family?
We’re not looking for nightlife or ticking off every tourist attraction—we’d much rather have memorable days exploring, swimming, spotting wildlife, eating well and generally slowing down.
If you had 11 nights with a toddler, how would you spend them?
Thanks for your help!
***note: we will be hiring a car***
What's it like living in Nambour
I am selling my house in the inner city of Bris Vegas, and I want to go somewhere with lots of trees and birds. There are some great large properties in my price range around Nambour: but what's it like there? Will I have nice neighbours? Is there a bushfire risk?
thinking of giving up on the coast
here 4 years now and i'm starting to wonder if it's worth it. Rents gone up twice in the last year and i'm paying like 150 more a week than when i moved in. starting to feel like i'm working just to pay rent.
I've got a decent job but it's not keeping up with the cost of living here. everyone keeps saying just buy something like it's that easy. i've looked around noosa and maroochydore and even the cheaper areas are way out of my price range.
mate of mine moved to brisbane last year and he reckons it's not much better there. he's got a place in the suburbs and uses some company called PMC Property Management to look after it. said it's working out okay for him but he's got a partner so dual income helps.
i just feel stuck. can't afford to buy, can't afford to keep renting. feels like i'm gonna have to move somewhere cheaper eventually. anyone else feeling the squeeze? or am i just bad with money lol
Nightlife on the sunny coast?
Hi there! I’m looking at planning a hens party in the Maroochydore area. Just wondering if there is much night life, such as night clubs still around? I remember I went to sol bar and the post office once but I believe they are both closed now. I wouldn’t expect anything like the valley but just something for some dancing and drinking would do the trick. TIA!
Recommendations for vets pls
Hi, any recos for good vets? Around Birtinya area but will travel anywhere if they are good
Prefer experience with senior dogs and good with communication (often its more about easing the anxious parent!)
Thanks in advance. Nothing happened just need continuity of care as moving to the area
Is anyone in Alexandra Headland and just heard what sounds like fireworks or gunshots?
reddit.comFor any former Palmwoods State School students (2001-2002)
I was there 2001-2003 but don’t remember anything.
Moving home?
Hi there
We have been on the coast for about 7 years now. It’s still not home. We have lived across two areas, beach then hinterland, now back to beach.
We still can’t deal with the humidity. Cafes and restaurants are sub standard compared to other Regional areas like Newcastle, NSW Central Coast, even the Gold Coast!
And the jobs. The job market is so narrow.
We don’t feel settled and can’t figure out why. It all just feels so…..boring.
Sorry to the locals. I do think the beaches and greenery are wonderful. But unless you’re a mad surfer or don’t notice humidity, there is little to draw me in.
So anyway, has anyone moved home? Even after 7 years? How did it work out?
World Cup Australia Venues?
Is there anywhere showing the game tomorrow morning? Keen for a bit of atmosphere but can’t find anywhere showing. Some of the football clubs have in the past ? 4am is early but half the coast are up by then anyway.
Painting rocks
I want to do aome rock painting and also decorate in the garden. Is there any where locally I can find then?
Sunshine Coast Metro draft corridor maps released (The Wave Stage 3 Metro)
Interesting to see it is not fully grade separated... yet they still chose to waste the CAMCOS corridor with it.
Just build the coastal BRT instead bro
Looking for Friends Around My Age (22–29)
Hi! I thought I'd give this another shot since I was lucky enough to make a genuine friend through Reddit.
I'm looking to expand my social circle and meet people around my age (22–29), regardless of gender or background. I'd love to connect with people who enjoy having real conversations and, if we get along, are open to meeting up. If we click, the idea is to eventually build a small, friendly group with the friend I already met here.
A bit about me: I'm open-minded, patient, and passionate about a wide range of interests. What I'm really looking for are people who are genuinely interested in getting to know someone, are willing to put in a bit of effort, and can keep a conversation going.
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, send me a DM with a proper introduction about yourself. Please include your age, gender, a bit about your interests, and what you're looking for. I probably won't reply to messages that just say "Hi" or "Hello" since it's hard to start a conversation from that.
Thanks
