Why is the coast run with such a smalltown mentality?

Despite having close to 400,000 people. I can understand the geography may play a part as we are very scattered over 2300 sq.km and comprising of up to 200 suburbs. Seriously with the amount of people moving from places with quality infrastructure and ammenities, why are we still stuck with the same small town mentality?

Kawana Shoppingworld

There are about 7 or 8 tenancies which are empty or in the process of being repurposed. Does anyone know who is supposed to be moving to the centre? Heard lots about teenagers running smoke in the centre, looks like security has there hands full.

Does the Sunshine Coast have any local newpaperleft?

Sunshine Coast Daily appears to be purely digital and you have to be a subscriber to access the articles. The print version no longer comes out weekly. Some areas like Noosa, Coolum, Caloundra and the Hinterland still have local rags. Some areas like Cuŕrimundi and Peregian Springs have local newsletters run by volunteers.Àre we a news deadzone?

Future Devopments for the Sunshine Coast

Apart from The Wave, MLR and a few new Stockland retail centres being built what else is coming to the coast? Could we get another expansion of Kawanà Shops or the Plaza.? How about a new farmers market or even Fisherman's wharf setup or a new eat street? Even more night markets on a regular basis with foodtrucks, or even a dfo.

After Brisbane and GC we are the next most populous region. Moreton and a few other LGAs may be bigger, are essentially part of Greater Brisbane.

Birtinya Town Centre

It appears that the new town centre is earmarked for uptown 2600 new dwellings and a shopping centre of around 20,000 sq.m and lots of new active transport infrastructure. Sounds promising.
