Moving Costs? Plus COL buffer?

Hi all, from QLD but moved to good old TAS a few years ago.

Realistically, how much would a young couple need saved up to move to sunny coast and have a 3-6 month buffer for emergencies.

Most of my family are in QLD and we’d like to be close to them by the time we want to start trying for a baby. So there’s that cost included as well. All seems like a huge about but where we are in TAS is not a good place to start a family.

No judgment please! TIA.

Could I be pregnant?

TW MENTION OF LOSS:

Hi all! I can’t use the fertility friend one that you all seem to be using sadly, but I do track with my Apple Watch. Also Stardust but the chart on there seems to not be so ‘dramatic’ / easy to read. Does anyone else track with their Apple Watch? I am 8DPO and my chart looks like this. (Hard to explain but im talking about the increasing step like pattern) I’ve never seen this pattern normally it’s all over the place. I had an early loss in December 2025 and wasn’t tracking / didn’t have a watch then so I can’t compare and it’s driving me mad because it’s too early to test. Thanks in advance!

I hate the TWW.

TW: mention of previous loss

I know that it’s totally normal to feel this way. But my god I really don’t like the TWW. About 8 months ago, I had a MC. It was my first pregnancy.

Fast forward to now, I’m 4DPO. Really hopeful. Wondering if every twinge or cramp or even my dog being extra clingy could mean something when in reality it is wayyyy too early for it to be pregnancy related. I go from hopeful to certain to doubtful about 15 times a day. I can’t test for over a week and I just know I’ll be devastated if it’s negative again.

Anyway, just wanted to share because I know the TWW is really tough on all of us. At least we’re all in this crazy ride together

Family planning around career

Hi all!

Delete if not allowed but I just wanted to get some advice.

I’m only in my first year of nursing (not accelerated but have some 2nd year subjects due to having to do a diploma last year that let me do some first year units) and everyone and their dog is telling me to not get pregnant, however I have seen a few people have babies during their studies and be okay.

Obviously it’d be a lot easier not to, but we are waiting for our rainbow baby. I just wanted to ask if anyone can share success stories of having a Bub while studying nursing/ in their new grad etc etc and how you managed, because this is a super hard degree/ career without kiddos let alone with!

TIA :)

Is it even worth it?

Hi all! Dramatic title sorry, I did post yesterday about getting spacers put in but since deleted the post because the picture was awful.

I’m 21F, have a long orthodontic journey ahead.

My spacers hurt and are so uncomfortable, I have to have them in for a month.

Upcoming treatments are an upper expander, Jaw surgery (for expansion as the manual expander most likely won’t work on its own due to my age) braces and then DJS (DJS is optional but recommended by my ortho)

I am a busy lady! Nursing student and support worker. I love the gym and I’m just thinking is it even worth all this trouble? I’ll have to take time off uni, work and the gym, my gains will be impacted because of how often I’ll only be able to have liquid / soft foods.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! I feel like it’s a long expensive road ahead! I’ve started paying for it but I’m just over it already 😂 estimated treatment timeline is 24-36 months

Sorry for the ramble!

First placement!!

Hi all! Officially about to head into my first placement in Sep/Oct. I’ve been placed in a rural aged care facility. I used to work as an AIN in aged care so, I’m just wondering what the difference is between what you do as an AIN vs Student RN in aged care?

Also any advice would be greatly appreciated! (What to bring, how eager should I be, what shouldn’t I do, finances etc)

Overall I am probably overly excited, I’m just happy I’m making progress in my degree and can’t wait to just get out there! I have no idea what I want to do as an RN just yet, but hoping that I get my answer from future placements.

Thanks all! :))

Spacers… OW!!

Jumpscare for the photo - sorry! 😂. I’m 21F got a long orthodontic journey ahead.. can finally afford it myself! I just got spacers put in today (you can see the one on the right) and oh my god they hurt so bad?? It’s been a few hours but ouch!! They said it would be uncomfortable but I’m finding it really hurts.

My upcoming journey:
Upper expander
Jaw Surgery (SARME/SARPE)
Braces
Double Jaw Surgery
Also possibly some tooth extractions

All up will take about 3 years… wish me luck! Any advice would be appreciated 😊

Saving for my first house

Hi all,

I’m 21F in good old Tasmania. We really want to move back to QLD but with the price of everything we’ve decided to just suck it up and buy in TAS to just get in the market. Realistically, we could buy up to 450K but preferably lower.

Currently have 10K saved but I know we would need around 35-40K before we buy. All I can say is oh my god this is taking forever 😂😂

Any tips for getting our deposit faster? Feels like a never ending uphill battle

Countdown is on

TW: Mention of loss

Hi all! partner and I decided that we are officially going to TTC in 6 months.

We had an early loss in December 2025. It was my first pregnancy and was really hard. I finally feel ready to try again. I’ve been off BC for three months, sort of ‘not trying not preventing’. If it happens before we officially start trying then amazing

Anyway I’m wondering if you guys have a recommendation for a good prenatal vitamin? I’m in Aus :)

Also any additional advice is appreciated! I’m in my 20’s so I know it will not be as easy as having kids in my 30’s (stability wise) but I know this is what’s meant for me.

Update - still not sure!!

Hi all! I posted two days ago saying I was one day late and thought I was pregnant, I took a test and it was negative.

Just a little update, I’m now 3 days late. My Stardust app said I ovulated on July 8. I plugged all my stats into google and the AI thing said based on my wrist temp and HR on my Apple Watch that there’s a high chance I actually ovulated over a week later, on July 17-18. We BD on the 18th and 19th since we thought we were well and truly clear of the fertile window.

Obviously, I can’t trust an AI to predict anything accurately 😂

I’ve never been 3 days late before although if I did ovulate very late then I guess I’m not late.

Has anyone had a similar experience and turned out to be pregnant?? I seriously doubt I am but also kind of hopeful?

Definitely symptom spotting but I’m having some nausea, breast tenderness and a pulling sensation on my right lower abdomen

Apple Watch Chart - False negative??

Could I be pregnant? Period is one day late!! Got a BFN at midday but it was like the smallest pee of my life lol.

Anyone had temps like these and you’ve been pregnant? Last cycle it was trending down to -0.29 for the few days leading up to AF arrival. The dip was about 17/7.

Thanks in advance!!

u/ireallywantsushii — 30 days ago

In denial? lol

Hi all! My period is supposed to come today but hasn’t, I took a pregnancy test at about midday but it was a really tiny pee (tmi sorry!) so it was only in the stream for like one second. It came back negative and my period still hasn’t come yet! Any chance I could be pregnant and that it was a false negative?

14DPO, honestly can’t remember for the life of me when we were intimate I’m pretty sure it was the follicular phase though.

I’m not very symptomatic and I feel like my period will turn up tomorrow sadly lol, but a tinyyy part of me is hoping!

CD 1 Gamble

Anyone else’s period not show up on the morning/ midday when it’s due? So you frantically go out and buy a test because you think this might be the time (despite zero symptoms lol), take the test it’s negative and then AF shows up hours later? It is such a betrayal honestly. I had a MC last December, it was my first pregnancy. I’m in my 20’s and I know I have plenty of time, but what was meant to be my due date is fast approaching and I feel this pressure because in my mind I thought I’d be pregnant again by now.

Anyway, does this happen to anyone else? 🥲 it’s like my body is giving me some hope and then it just gets taken away.

I’m hoping next month is our turn, coincidentally I’m ovulating during mine and my partners 6 year anniversary, and we will find out if it worked on what was meant to be my due date. Trying not to get my hopes up though

Fear of TTC

Hi all,

I’m 22F and last December in had an early loss, at about 5w5d. It was my first pregnancy and I was just devastated. It was a surprise pregnancy but I was so excited. I’m supposed to be due August 18. I still think about it often.

Anyway, despite being so young I have worked very hard to be financially stable and my partner and I have been together for almost 6 years (so please no comments about being too young etc) anyway, I really want to start TTC. But I cannot shake the anxiety of having another loss. Does anyone have success stories of their second pregnancy being successful? Obviously, I can’t control the outcome though.

TIA!
