Macro Suggestions

[System Agnostic]

I've experimenting with Foundry Macros and I'm amazed to see what they're capable of so I wanted to ask what macros you all think could be useful to have handy

So far I've made:

* A macro that has light settings templates to quickly and easily give a token light source (torches, lamp, light can trip etc)

* Fall damage calculator

* Travel calculator to check how long will a travel take and how many random encounters should I roll

* A macro that shows everyone on the table the portrait image of the selected token

* Macro that flips the token horizontally (requested by a player of mine)

* A token effects removal

How do I provide Potions of Healing to my players? Crafting/Gathering Mechanics

I’m currently DMing a Curse of Strahd campaign, and I’m trying to keep it as close to the source material as possible. Because of that, there are not many items available, especially magic items.

However, my players have been asking for Potions of Healing. I don’t want to hand them out freely because I want to preserve the feeling of scarcity. At the same time, I’d like them to have a way to earn or create them without turning it into several full sessions of ingredient hunting. I also don’t want to rely on random NPCs selling them without a good reason, or simply say, “Oh, I found some on a dead body.”

I considered having the players search for or fetch the required materials, but I’m worried that this could slow down the campaign too much. I want crafting to feel meaningful without becoming a major distraction from the story.

How would you all handle crafting healing potions in a resource-scarce campaign like Curse of Strahd?

Some context about our specific campaign if needed (or not ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ ):

  • We’re playing online through Foundry VTT.
  • The party has received a few Potions of Healing from NPCs and stolen a couple more from important NPCs, but I’ve framed these as non-replenishable.
  • The party consists of a Monk, Ranger, Fighter, Bard, and a homebrew Invoker focused on summons. The Bard has not shown up in a while, and no one in the party has an obvious reason to know how to craft healing potions.

So far, the players have (SPOILERS FOR CAMPAIGN EVENTS):

  • >!Reached Vallaki, killed the burgomaster, and installed Lady Wachter as ruler.!<
  • >!Burned down the Vistani camp outside Vallaki, making enemies of the Vistani.!<
  • >!Defeated the druids and are trying to earn the Keepers of the Feather’s trust, though the Keepers are wary of them.!<
  • >!Gained Ezmerelda as an ally against Strahd.!<
  • >!About to finish exploring Argynvostholt with Ezmerelda. No major characters there have been killed here yet.!<

>!After Argynvostholt, they plan to go to Berez to rescue Adrian, who was captured by Baba Lysaga. I plan to run Berez as a hexcrawl, and I’m considering using it as a place where they can find organic potion ingredients!<

Hi all! I want to share a tool I created with the help of a friend called Roll With It.

Is a character creation tool to help streamline and simplify the process of filling a character sheet. Is completely free and would love to hear what you all think about it.

I’m still actively working on improving it, and I plan to add more features in the future.

Hi everyone! I wanted to share something one of my players made for me after we kept running into issues with port forwarding. I think it could help a lot of people here, since this seems to be a common problem for Foundry users.

The tool is called Foundry Tunnel Manager. It’s free, open source, and very easy to use.

I recommend using the Cloudflare option because it doesn't have any time restrictions. Just go to the Releases page and download the version for your operating system.
