Thanks to the user who recommended it! I’ve watched 2 episodes so far on Youtube, can kind of guess what’s going to happen but that’s ok, sometimes you just need an escape. Because the Youtube subtitles are not always accurate, I missed why the Count needs to get married though?
this Is a retelling of “the Odyssey” by the Coen brothers, the overall tone is absurd and over the top…you get the cyclops, the Sirens, and a version of Tiresias, the blind prophet. TW for animal cruelty and a disturbing scene involving the KKK, still highly recommended.
…but I’m not sure if I can continue. I am partway through episode 4, and i find myself getting triggered by the fact that Emma thinks she can raise her baby on her own. Blackie just proposed to her, and I want to yell at the screen because like, come on, being a single mother is HARD, it’s hard now and I imagine that it was even harder then. What is she thinking? Also, blackie is the biggest cinnamon roll. is this show worth watching to the end? Is there anything else that shows people with ambition, maybe with more likable characters?
She is a direct descendant of Edward III through John of Gaunts daughter Catherine
“The mists of Avalon “used to be one of my favorite books until I learned what an awful person The author was. Since I don’t believe in separating the art from the artist, please suggest me some books that a similar vibe-preferably fantasy/mythology retelling
Too cute ☺️
Mine has to be Richard and Anne from the White Quuen-easily the most compelling part of that series. Their sex sex did some things to me 😁 and when I read “the Sunne in Splendour“ by Sharon Kay penman I was picturing these actors throughout
Aka horse heaven
Specifically thinking of Black Orpheus (1959)
if you’re unfamiliar, it’s a retelling of the Greek myth set in Brazil
I realize this is kind of a broad topic, so I am particularly interested in reading more about spellcraft and history. Thank you
😭😮💨😩
what a story. I must write something to deal with the emotions 😭
this is about something that I was not really aware of, the Japanese occupation of Korea. (it took me ages to figure out that “Joseon“ meant Korea)
i looked up the history and this lasted until after world war 2, with hideous treatment of the native people and especially women
decided not to watch the new season of house of the dragon, but still looking for some political intrigue to watch to fill that hole. im Ok with period typical violence but no torture porn please, shows i have seen in the past like this and enjoyed include wolf hall, and Maximilian. Thanks in advance.
What are examples of this, that you can think of, done well?
