Something is wrong…

So my hognose is almost 2 years old now, but this is what he looks like. He is literally whithering away. I thought it was because he didn’t eat for like the first 6 months I had him, but even with him eating more consistently now, he is still not gaining any weight. And even though he is not losing any weight, he is just so skinny. And he just regurgitated a meal and I am scared that a regurgitation in this state might kill him. Planning to call a vet after the weekend is over. The bulge is from the pinky he had just eaten which he ended up regurgitating. I had someone tell me he could’ve been from a bad egg that should’ve been culled, like a runt/failure to thrive, could that be it?

Question about feeding?

I’m really hoping to get some insight on what I should do. My boy is 11 months old and weighs 135 grams and I am feeding him 8 grams hopper mice every 10 days. I have 7 of the 8 gram feeders left until I bump him up to 16 gram adult mice.

Well, the 8 gram feeders are right under 6% of his body weight, 5.9%. And with 7 of them left, the will continue to be a lesser percentage of his body weight.

So my question is, should I stay at 10 days even though it will be a lesser percentage of his body weight, or should I drop down to 7 or 8 days since they are a smaller feeder?

He is my first boa so I would love some insight on what yall think would be best. He is eating the mice within like 3-4 minutes and it is leaving like no bump at all.

Just got a 4x2x2

So I just recently got a 4x2x2 enclosure for my baby BI. He was originally in a 36x18x18 but I won a fluker farms giveaway for a 4x2x2! I underestimated the jump from a 38x18x18 to a 4x2x2, this thing is MASSIVE! My baby looks so tiny in it compared to his old enclosure. Yall lmk what yall think, or if I need to add anything lmk!

Is there shed testing for boas like there is for ball pythons?

I bought my guy around 2 months ago and he is around 8 months old. He was sold to me as VPI Fire Jungle, but posting him on Facebook and here people seem to have mixed reactions on if that is right or not. I bought him from a well known and reputable boa breeder, but things can happen and animals can get mislabeled especially when packing up for expos and stuff. So I’m wondering if there is shed testing for boas like there is ball pythons?

Failure to thrive?

I am posting here because I do not know what to do at this point. No matter what I do, my guy refuses to eat unless it’s on his time. I have tried braining, scenting, warming it more, leaving it in his enclosure, putting it in a toilet paper role, everything I have ever heard of doing. He will be 2 in August and is only 9 grams. He will only eat maybe every 10 days sometimes going 20-30 without eating. He refuses food regularly and nothing I do will help him eat more regularly, he only eats when he wants too. I do not know what to do anymore. I am posting a picture of his food tracking over the last however long and his enclosure. His temps are at 92 hot spot and 84-86 ambient on the warm side and 75 ish on the cold side. He has a water dish and plenty of hides and his humidity normally stays between 30-40. When he does eat, he is eating 2 gram peach fuzzies that really look like pinkies and he eats them just fine.

I love my little mustache man!

I’ve had my boy for almost 2 months now. I’m so excited to see what he looks like full grown! I love how they all have little mustaches😭

Hognose eating

I have had my hognose for a year and a half now, but he still doesn’t eat regularly. He only will take a meal like 3-4 times a month at most. I try to feed him every 7 days but sometimes he will go like 20 days without eating. I’m really concerned because I thought he would grow out of it and become better at eating and he just hasn’t. He is currently eating small fuzzy mice. I will try to feed him and if he doesn’t take it then I leave it in there for a while but most of the time if he doesn’t eat it right away then he won’t eat it if I leave it in there. I just want to get him eating regularly, if anyone has any tips that would be great!

Enclosure sizes? 6x2x2 or 6x3x3

Hi all! I have a baby male BCI and I have heard very conflicting information on adult enclosure sizes. I wanted to see what size everyone has their adult boas in, and opinions on which one is better!

What is my boa?

Hi all! I am so sorry I keep posting about him, but I have another question. So when I got him, the breeder said he was a VPI Fire Jungle BCI. Well, I posted him on a boa Facebook group and the consensus was the he looks like a BCA, or short tailed boa. I wanna get everyone’s opinion on here! Lmk what yall think!

I got my boy about 3 weeks ago. He is 89g exactly and around 2ft long and I was wondering if that was too small or a good weight? He is a great eater and has taken 2 meals and shed perfectly since I got him. He is eating a fuzzy mouse every 10 days as of right now.
