Iced Tea Summer
So, after replying to a “what tea am I drinking today?” post, I was asked to share the iced tea recipe I’ve been obsessed with all summer—so here goes.
• Make your cold brew. I use an Eigenart Eve brewer, but a large mason jar works too. Add five to six tea bags of fruit tea, or five to six teaspoons of loose tea, and chill for 24 hours.
• Put six to eight black cherries in a mason jar or glass. Fresh if you can afford them, but I use Walmart’s frozen Dark Sweet Cherries.
• Muddle the fruit. If you’re using frozen fruit, microwave it for about a minute first.
• Add the juice of one lemon, or about two teaspoons of concentrated lemon juice.
• Add sweetener to taste. I use four to six packets of Splenda because I like my tea sweet and I’m counting calories, but you can use agave, honey, maple syrup, sugar, Stevia, or whatever you prefer.
• Pour in your cold brew.
• Add ice and a splash of coconut milk.
• Shake your jar and enjoy!
You can use pretty much any combination of fruit tea and fresh or frozen fruit. I’ve been experimenting all summer: pineapple with pineapple green tea, berries with raspberry lemon tea, cherries with jasmine green tea, mango with peach mango tea—the possibilities are endless.
I got the idea from a young woman on YouTube named Abril Murillo, whose channel is Days With Abril. She inspired me to start experimenting, and now I’m slightly obsessed. 😂
