This has likely been asked and answered, but I did a search and couldn’t find it. I’m looking for an addon for *Classic* that helps me track how much HP is left on my ice barrier and mana shield when I pop them.
Does such a thing exist for Classic, or is Weakauras my only option?
Follow up question to my earlier post. I’m standing in Elwynn Forest, level 1, and wondering if there are any addons particularly useful in HC besides Deathlog that I ought to consider before I start kicking ass, taking names, and dying in the first kobold mines quest? 😂✌️
I’m about to roll my first HC toon! I’m on EST time in the U.S. and am not sure where to start. Is Doomhowl basically the only option for Anniversary (as opposed to the older original Classic realms)?
Also, are there any guilds that are especially newbie-friendly? I have very limited experience in vanilla, so I’m probably clueless about most “death traps” and really don’t want to be a liability in group content. But I’d love to grow into playing with others in HC. I know vanilla is 110% “solved”, but I’m wondering if there’s a guild out there for people like me? 🤷♀️

My hubby is trying out WoW, and we’re in Classic Era because neither of us enjoys the pace of retail. But this kinda limits our addon options. He is used to Fallout 4 and Elder Scrolls games, and found himself wishing there was a compass HUD that also showed quest markers, rather than looking up at his WoW compass in the corner or opening the map.
We’ve got him set up with ConsolePort for his controller, and it seems that the final element missing to make this a “console game” is a strip-type compass, kinda like in this pic, but preferably along the bottom of the screen.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a compass addon for Classic that does this. Is there a UI addon (available for Classic) that has this feature? I like the Classic UI, so I’ve never messed around with UI addons before. I’d really appreciate any insight from the experts! Ty!! 🙏
TLDR: Love TBC but missing the slow vanilla pace. Should I try rolling Era or HC?
I’ve never played either, but I’m considering it and would appreciate thoughts from anyone who has.
I resubbed 8 months ago after a loooong hiatus, and have been maining a mage in TBC. Amazing guild, populated server, having a great time. But I find myself missing that feeling from 8 months ago. It was my first time in vanilla (I started late TBC retail 20 years ago), and I was in awe. I loved every little detail - the quests, the music, the different zone vibes, picking flowers and making low level pots… it wasn’t exactly nostalgia, since it was all new content to me, but that slower pace and focus on the journey was just amazing. I wasn’t in a hurry, I was literally stopping constantly to smell the roses… er, peacebloom. 🙄
So now I’m wondering whether I’d enjoy Era or HC more? I’ve heard HC has a great community (I’d probably be on Defias Pillager, east coast), but I’m not sure I’d enjoy the pressure of losing most progress every time I die (bank alt notwithstanding). Are there still healthy Era servers? I don’t have any interest in PvP, so I might try Mankrik…?
