C44 Visa

Hi,

My partner (French national) has a job offer and will be applying for C44 visa as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. I will be applying for a spouse open work permit (British national).

We will be applying from the UK where we live.

I’d like advice on the following questions please:

  1. IRCC website says 11 weeks processing time, what’s your experience?
  2. If our applications are still pending, can we enter Canada with a visitor ETA and wait until our applications are approved to start working?
  3. Is it too risky to just get an ETA and then apply for the work permits at port of entry?

Cheers!

Hi guys,

I’ve tried looking as much as possible for information on the internet and on Reddit but it would reassure me even more if I hear from your experiences!

I’ll relocating from the UK to Canada (flight London - Toronto) and I have very confused about my cat’s paperwork.

For sure she needs a Rabies vaccine which I will do at least 21 days before travelling.
I was advised by my vet that I also need an Export Health Certificate.

Do I also need a separate “Fit to Fly” certificate done a few days before travelling? I’ve seen this information briefly but it’s no where on Air Canada nor on the Canadian government website.

I’d appreciate your help.

Thanks!

Hiya!

I’m moving to Canada (Montreal) from the UK (London) in a couple of months and will bring my 2 years old cat with me. I really want her to be in cabin with me as it’s less traumatic than in the hold.

I’ve already thought about the logistics and I’d like your insights / experiences!

Cost-wise, I’ll most likely fly from London to Toronto with Air Canada, and the take the train to Montreal. This is acc £300 less expensive than flying from London to Montreal directly (including the train from Toronto to Montreal..!!). I could do the same with Air Transat.

Have you travelled with a cat in cabin with either airline? What was your experience with registering your pet in advance and then the overall journey?

Also, I’m considering buying this carrier bag: https://petsfit.com/products/foldable-pet-carrier-cats-dogs?variant=44277207793854 . Any other recommendations?

Thanks in advance!!

My partner has a job opportunity in Montreal as a Researcher at McGill University in Montreal, and I am planning to move with him.

I understood that I would need to apply for a Spouse Open Work Permit but I am confused whether I need healthcare insurance before entering Canada (but I know my partner needs one) ? And if yes, do you have any recommendations?

We definitely plan to get registered with RAMQ once we’re there, but I’d like to know if I need a separate insurance for when I arrive.

Thanks!!
