Retrimmed this steering wheel in leather

Finished another MX-5 steering wheel retrim.
I’ve been trying to push my upholstery work in more of an OEM+ direction. Really happy with how this one turned out, the new leather feels so much better in the hand than the worn out cover it had before.

This one is black leather with perforated grips, “euro” stitch and a 12 o’clock marker.

Mx5 NA seat retrim

Just finished retrimming this NA passenger seat in black leather and red stitching to match someones Bucket seat. The foam on this 30 year old seats was falling apart so I glued and strengthen them so hopefully they'll last longer. Added an additional layer of foam underneath to smooth out the worn foam texture as well.

Update: poor man’s Porsche

Mindful of posting too much in the group so I thought I’d put some updates into 1 post:

Did the seat cover for my passenger side seat which turned out much better than the drivers side so will get round to fixing the bolsters on the drivers side at some point.

Installed my retrimmed door cards, steering wheel and centre console

Covered the dash trim in the same leather.

Still need to recover the handbrake and currently in the process of making some leather door pulls with an insert to block off the gap left from the door card handle.

First time upholstering a seat

Definitely an overly ambition project for someone 4 ish months into learning upholstery. It took me forever to figure out how to do it but I think I’ve figured out the correct orders in which to sew the panels so the next one should be a bit quicker and more precise.

Had a go at reupholstering my steering wheel

Doing a retrim from scratch has been on my list of diy projects for ages. Definitely not perfect but so much better than the see over cover I had on it before. Did the 12 o’clock marker in the same leather I’m doing my seats in.

Ive got so much more respect for pros at this. YouTube videos make it look sooooooooo easy. I’ve got some hobby level sewing experience and wanted some new interior bits for my mx5. After many attempts I’m happy with how these turned out
