2024 Tucson Keyless Entry Q

Minor irritation usually, but something that can be extremely infuriating when start align, so I thought I’d ask the brain trust:

On the keyless entry/touch entry, I know where on my driver door handle to touch to unlock. Usually works, however many a time (usually when my heads are already occupied), my unlock touch actually serves to lock. Again. And again. Doing nothing different than usual. This can go on for 20x before I finally get irritated enough to fish out the key fob from my pocket and unlock manually.

Am I doing something wrong? Any way to adjust?

GFiber DNS switchover behavior?

Does anybody know definitively how DNS is routed on a GFiber network?

I have my Pihole set up as DNS Server 1, with 8.8.8.8 set up as a backup in case my Pihole shids the bed.

Does GFiber definitively route only to #1 and treats #2 as backup, or could it load balance and send some to #2 even if #1 functions just fine?

All-Inclusive Kids Free - Bait and Switch?

Hi all,

Current Gold member, travel a decent amount for work, so I was delighted to be able to spend a chunk of my accumulated points on an all-inclusive for a week with my family. This travel is coming up soon.

Were aware that stays on points are 5th night free, had decided on “Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort” with a great point rate, and even booked on the Hilton site where it advertised the 2026 “Kids and Teens Stay Free” promotion (see link). We added both children on our reservation with ages at the time of booking. Point being, I feel like my wife and I did everything right, so we subsequently booked our (quite expensive) airfare to Cancun.

Fast-forward to approx. 30 days out, when I get an unassuming email about my upcoming stay, kindly informing me of a $90 additional occupancy fee for my room per child per night, for an unexpected additional $900. They are relying on the T&C section 18, discussed in other threads, for all-inclusive stays booked on points.

Distasteful though it may be, I’m actually not complaining about Hilton’s right to charge beyond a double-occupancy room. Or even the fact that there was zero mention of this additional fee at the point of booking (like is prominently displayed now) or anywhere on my confirmation email. What is perplexing me is that Hilton and the resort, thus far, is seeming to act as though this promotion does not even exist.

I have made several phone calls to customer service, and currently have an open Guest Assistance case number. Depending on the person I speak with, I will either get empathy and a willingness to “send up higher on the chain” or simply to say they will contact the resort on my behalf (this does nothing…I get the same email repeatedly from the resort.) I’m now being told that GA can’t do anything for an upcoming stay, only previous stays.

What I am seeking is for someone to explain this promotion to me, and why this (apparently?) does not wipe out any “additional occupancy” charges that are being assessed. I’ve even looked for any fine print vis a vis “not valid for points reward nights”, but I can’t even find that.

Has anyone had an experience with Hilton like this? Any suggestions for avenues I’ve not explored? It’s really leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Thanks for the read; I feel like I’m shouting into the void.
