CLL and hypothyroidism

Hello,

My dad has CLL - he is 66, he was diagnosed at 63, and received treatment for a year, and is just having bloodwork every 3 months now.

His most recent bloodwork showed high TSH and low T4, meaning he is hypothyroid. But he doesn’t want to take medication for it and wants to treat it “naturally.”

Has anyone here dealt with hypothyroidism as well as CLL? What would be implications of him not treating his thyroid for months? Can it really be that bad? I don’t know how to convince him to just take the hormone replacement.

Achy/ cranky joints ? Calcium helped?

Has anyone noticed this symptom? Every time I sit down or climb stairs my knees make noises, and it is concerning haha. I am only 7w5d but I’m carrying twins. Not sure if they’re sucking up extra calcium from my bones 😭

I looked into it and I’ve read that it’s important to supplement with calcium as most prenatals are lacking. My current prenatal only has 120mg.

I’ve ordered some, however wanted to check in and see if anyone else has experienced this symptom and has supplementing with calcium helped? And if yes, how much calcium?

I am waiting to see my OB, but not sure when that will be so that I can ask all this.

Not booking ultrasound appointments due to strike [BC]

So my doctor sent a requisition for my first ultrasound ( I am currently 7w4d pregnant with twins ( confirmed at boutique)) to Jim Pattison Outpatient and when I called them to ask if it was received the requisition, the receptionist told me it was received but it hasn’t been booked because of the strike as there are no clerks.

Has anyone experienced this? What is the workaround around this to ensure I get a timely scan as a multiple pregnancy is considered high risk.

Drinking diet soda safe?

I keep seeing mixed feedback on drinking diet sodas - in particular, aspartame and the link to behavioural issues in children whose mothers consumed it in pregnancy and/or while breast feeding.

For second time moms, who did consume diet soda during pregnancy did yall notice behavioural issues with your babies?

Any input would be appreciated, I usually have a can of caffeine free Coke Zero a day, and it helps considering all the other fun drinks I’ve had to give up and cut back on ( coffee 😭). Please share your thoughts/ experiences.

When did you get your first ultrasound ? [bc]

Hello,

I am currently 5 weeks, and 5 days and I’ve had my initial blood work done. I am currently waiting for a midwife clinic to get back to me, and have only met with a family doctor once, who after seeing my blood work has no concerns and hasn’t even booked or sent me a requisition for an ultrasound.

I told her I experienced some light brown spotting, and just told me to go to the ER.

Has anyone been in a similar situation - did your doctor recommend an early ultrasound?

If you had no symptoms, at what stage was your ultrasound?

Just want to get an idea when mine will be scheduled.

I feel so so sad

I am 33, married, and just found out I am pregnant ( 4W- 5 days). And I’ve been so sad and depressed since finding out. I don’t feel like myself.

I noticed brown spotting after working out a couple days ago, and have decided not to workout until I can talk to a doctor about this, and that has been really hard. I am someone that works out and needs it to feel sane. It’s my happy place.

I already feel like I am losing so much of myself with this pregnancy, and I am so early on, what will I feel like once this child is actually taking over my life?

I obviously did want kids, but I was never that girl that knew she wanted to be a mom since forever. I am content even just having the one, but why do I feel like this? When will I feel happy again, I feel so alone in these feelings.

I don’t want to have such negative emotions regarding my pregnancy because so many people struggle with it, but I can’t help it. I know it’s still early on, but I have no one to talk to as we are waiting to tell everyone until the safe zone.

If anyone has experienced this, when does it get better? ❤️‍🩹
