What does your “comfortable baseline” look like with someone? How can you tell genuine enjoyment from politeness?

I’m curious about something with ISTPs, especially more relaxed/lowkey ones.

If you’re comfortable with someone and genuinely enjoy talking to them, but you’re not naturally very expressive, what does that actually look like from the outside?
For example: small check ins, teasing, random funny comments, sending games/memes, playing along with jokes, continuing a conversation even if your replies are pretty short, etc.
Are those things you naturally start doing once you’re comfortable with somebody? Or could you act basically the same way just because you’re being friendly/polite?

I think I sometimes have trouble distinguishing an ISTP’s “I genuinely like spending time with you” from “I have no problem with you and I’m being nice” 😂

What changes for you once you actually enjoy someone’s company?

What color gives you ISTP vibes, and why?

Doesn’t have to be based on stereotypes. It can be because of the functions, type of feelings, symbolism, or a specific shade.

Just for fun😄

Do you ever feel like no one gets you?

I’ve always admired how many ISTPs don’t seem overly concerned with fitting in or worrying about what others think. As an INFP, I can be that way too. But despite that

Sometimes I think it’s lonely. It’s really rare for me to find someone who understands me deeply.. someone I can joke about everything with, share the same sense of humor, completely let my guard down around.

I’m close to a lot of people. I genuinely love people. But sometimes I still feel lonely. I think I tend to shut people out.. not consciously. Relationships can be exhausting at times. I find myself simultaneously loving my close relationships while also feeling like… who I am is just a little too strange to ever be fully known.
Does anyone else ever feel this way?

“You’re so different” is a compliment?☺️

An ISTJ I’ve been texting daily randomly FaceTimed me and said my texts were “so different” and that he wanted to make sure I was real 😂

I genuinely can’t tell if that’s an ISTJ compliment, curiosity, or subtle concern LOL. I didn’t ask directly what he meant.

When you guys give compliments, are they usually subtle like that?

I’m an INFP, and I think my whole life I’ve been perceived as kinda quirky/weird haha. It’s been interesting watching the contrast between my rambly Ne style communication and his much more grounded, sincere communication style. I love to talk to ISTJ types, you guys are comforting to talk to. ☺️

Can you tell when another Ne user (ENFP/INFP/INTP) becomes comfortable enough to stop filtering themselves/specifically Ne, around you? What does that shift feel like from your perspective?
