I don’t know who to talk to because the general attitude about training FEELS like “if you want to learn it’s 90% you, 10% us” taken a bit too far. Sometimes. But maybe I’m just not pursuing it enough? Not that my bosses aren’t approachable but I feel like I’m not getting anywhere. I’m also a bit skittish so that’s at least partly me. Some reassurance would go a long way lol.
I’m a trainer and a parts expert. Could have sworn they said in training that we got a raise for parts expert but I’ve since been told that’s not the case. Again, maybe I’m missing something. I’m training classes and I went to one seminar. Was told we would shadow 3x before teaching a class but I wound up teaching without one shadow. General attitude was “yeah that’s just how it goes” even though they stressed in the seminar that that’s a big no no. Said we don’t get raises except for yearly but I’m improving and other stuff within that period while not being paid for it so that’s a bit off to me. Maybe more of a personal gripe/opinion as far as this goes lol.
Starting to get a bit frustrated and just looking for a better way to navigate this because I don’t feel super seen or appreciated at this point in time. I’m definitely still learning myself and I make mistakes, nobody including higher ups are perfect but I don’t feel great about it.
Has anyone dealt with this or successfully navigated this sort of thing?

Shop recommendations for beginner
Hey guys I’m near tiger stadium and looking to actively pursue my passion for automotive work. I have a decent beginner foundation and a willingness to learn. Wondering if anyone has suggestions for shops I should speak with who would be open to a candidate like myself.

Dragged out from a junkyard with a bullet in the gas cover. Meet project WREXD, a LSV8 RWD swap 2002 bugeye, in its infancy.
Bumpers not pictured, they’re in my closet lol. Main focus is weather proofing obviously and then turning into a proper rolling shell. Mostly stripped already.

Sacrilege. The only way to describe this build in progress.
I posted here a time back. Got me a sweet little 2002 wagon that got bit by the rust bug. It wound up being too much of a pain (for me personally) so I ended up selling it. Totally salvageable, it just wasn’t something I wanted to deal with. I had recently had to sell a car connected to my late father who passed from cancer, the nail was hit a bit too squarely on the head. Anyhow I had gotten a junkyard shell to swap everything into, but with 65k original miles I couldn’t bring myself to tear it apart. So I sold it. Sad day but it went to a standup fella who I felt good about selling it to.
Only one problem, the shell. Damn thing haunted me. I wanted a project, maybe I still had one. My dad once asked me “don’t take this the wrong way, but why are you always drawn to shitty cars?” The shell has no transmission, no engine and no interior. I bought it that way. About $400. So, I did the only reasonable thing, began prepping the shell for a LSV8 RWD conversion. It had been in a rear end collision, cue a questionable rear end repair ft. a sawed off junkyard rear end.
And so it begins.
