Accidentally Took A Step Into Wet Cement Or Concrete With Sneakers?
I was walking on the street and noticed several workers that were near by who were wearing those orange work vests so they are doing work. As I walked by, my left foot stepped onto the wet cement or concrete. My sneakers had a good amount of it on it and some did get on my skin. I did use a hose and sprayed water on the skin areas with the wet cement or concrete and the outer parts of my sneakers. The thing is I did spray a bit where it got my socks a bit wet as well.
As I got home, I washed my foot area with soap and water. I put my wet socks inside each of my shoes. A bit later on, I then looked under my left sneaker and it seems a good amount of wet cement or concrete is stuck to the bottom of my sneakers. It's been like this for over 3 hours at least.
Someone at home with their bare hands helped and used a hose and sprayed water on both of my sneakers. That person took an old toothbrush to scrape the cement or concrete out of the bottom of the shoe as spraying water from the hose didn't seem to work. That person did spray from the hose again but did it in a way where it wouldn't surprise me if some of the wet cement got inside the shoe because they were not spraying it very carefully.
- I heard you can actually get a chemical burn from this if you leave the wet concrete or cement on your skin too long? Was this wet cement or concrete? I heard they are not the same thing. What I do know is the color of the wet cement or concrete was a light gray color similar to my sneaker color. I didn't notice the wet cement or concrete because it looked like the same color as the ground as I was walking
- Are my sneakers safe to wear after it dries? Most of the wet concrete and cement was on the outer area of the sneaker. The thing is that person that helped me spray with a hose to the shoes, he was shooting the hose everywhere so some small amount could have went inside the shoe. Is that a big issue? Such that you wearing the shoe can give you a burn later on? Do I need to use the hose to spray inside of it and then pour any water out? If so I need to do this soon? I heard some people say you have to sometimes throw your shoes or sneakers out but can someone tell me when you have to do this? Is it due to safety issues?
- Should I throw my socks out if it has any wet concrete or cement residue? I know that when I used a hose initially to spray my sneaker, I sprayed the back of my ankles a bit as well so that water definitely got inside my sneaker and got my socks yet. Can you get a chemical burn later on if you don't remove all the wet cement or concrete inside your sneakers and outside it?
