Granny Charging Ampage

I have set my 2021 Style Pro to charge for the first time.

It's on a granny charger and I've asked it to charge to 80%. I have the charger set to 8 amps (I think it's amps anyway). Car was already on 52% but I wanted to make sure the charger and car worked!

The charger will go up to 13 amps. Somewhere I read that you should charge at a lower ampage if you aren't in a hurry.

Is this all as it should be or do you have additional advice?

The app is going to tell me when it's charged.

Braking? Or hitting?

I've had my 21 plate, iD3 Style Pro for a little over a week.

A couple of times, I have been reversing into my garage and it stops dead as if I've hit a wall. In a panic, I get out to see the damage even though I had clear space either side of the garage walls.

Is my car slamming the brakes on? There's a small slope so I do have to accelerate a little for the back tyres go up it. I wonder whether the car thinks I AM going to hit the wall. There is not a single mark on the car.

Just in ...

Brought my 2021 ID3 Style Pro home. I've sorted Android Auto and all paired up.

I couldn't get the boot to open. I pressed unlock boot on the key fob and nothing happened. Also the general unlock button on the key fob.

I have managed to get it open eventually by changing central locking to 'all doors'. Is there something I'm missing that is easier?

I fear that even though I've read lots in the manual, I will need to ask questions until I figure things out. Will search first of course.

Decision Made

After abandoning a brand new Inster, Renault 5 and Micra. Then putting a deposit on a Leaf and abandoning that one. I pick up this 2021 VW Id3 58kw on Tuesday. At £12,695 it fits nicely in my budget.

I understand the Infotainment system can be a bit rough/slow but I'll get used to that. I'm more concerned about parking in small spaces. I can get it in my garage but with the charging slot at the back of the car, it isn't close to the plug socket I was going to use. I might have to drive into my garage or charge it outside. I'll be using a granny charger. I don't do many miles.

Second Attempt

Hi All. I have reserved a VW Id3, 58KWh 2021 and 50,000 miles. It's had 2 owners. £12,695. Has panoramic sun roof, heated seats etc.

Would you say this is a good deal? I only drive locally apart from a holiday when I drive maximum 2 hours away. Will probably only granny charge for the time being.

Mean scales

Changed the batteries in my scales (Second Nature digital).

I'm up 3lbs.

Scales are mean! I'm still over 3 stone down, just disappointed. Not sure whether I have really gained or not. Official weigh day for me is Tuesday so will put some extra effort in.

Deposit Paid

I've asked for advice on here before and read all the posts I could.

Today, I took a 22 plate Nissan Leaf for a test drive. Loved it. Top of the range Techna and just 3000 miles.

My main worry is the ChadaMo(?) charger but as I don't go far I hopefully won't need to fast charge.

Is there any way to find where there are suitable public Chadamo chargers?

Test Drive Prep

I've booked to test drive the Hyundai Inster on Wednesday. I've looked at the size and make up of the Inster 01 and 02 and they suit my needs. I'm going to check I can reverse into my garage but is there anything else I should ask/check during the appointment?

There's an option of new £23,000 (01 model) or £27,000 (02) new or they have 2026 used (02) models £7,000 cheaper.

Skywell

I have an Auto trader alert for EV. This morning there are 5 cars when there are normally just 1 or 2. They are all new 2026 Skywell BE11 for just £14,995.

Probably too big for me but why would they be so cheap? They're apparently long range too.

Miserable Cow

I'm (f60) the miserable cow. When we moved to our bungalow in a quiet cul-de-sac (Uk), we were surrounded by adults and quiet families.

Since our next door neighbour (f90) moved to stay with her daughter we have had a family with 3 boys (11, 8 and 6) move in.

They play football in the driveway. They are kids and have every right to have a childhood but they are so noisy. Especially the cry baby 6 year old.

I don't like children. I like peace and quiet. None of the other young families make all this noise. They are such a polite family but our peace is shattered. Started looking at other properties but Mum (84) really doesn't want to move again and we'd have to get rid of a lot of belongings - we both sold our bungalows to move in together.

I need a nice, rural property or one in a retirement area.

Good Choice?

I posted a week or so ago regarding a possible replacement for my Honda Jazz Hybrid. I'm the weirdo who puts her car in the garage! Don't do much travelling, probably longest journey will be about 50 miles at any one time.

My saved searches has brought up this BMW i3 which is one of the motors that was recommended. BMW i3

It seems to be a good price but are there any red flags? Hoping to test drive tomorrow or Friday.

NSV

Guys n girls. I could just cry happy tears. I know I've lost weight (3 stone) but am still obese. A size 18ish.

I joined our Norfolk Greyhound Rescue group walk today and have just watched the video of the group before we got started.

I look NORMAL. I didn't stand out like a sore (swollen) thumb because I'm no longer so large.

It's the first time I have seen myself like that and it was a very pleasant surprise. Just shows me not to worry so much about the scales not moving fast.

I am interested in 2 EVs. It would be my first. I currently drive a Honda Jazz Hybrid (2012).

Locally there is a

2020 Peugeot E-208 for £9,495, 114,000 miles

Or

2022 Vauxhall Corsa Electric for £10,886, 20,357 miles.

I don't do a lot of driving. I have to fit my big Greyhound on the back seat and have to be able to reverse into my fairly small garage.

What do you think, the smaller Corsa will be easier to get in the garage and has fewer miles so seems like the better choice?
