Any dojo owners here who have locked in membership agreements for their students? Why or why not?

For context, on one hand, I feel if your instructors are good enough at inspiring people to stay for long periods of time, you shouldn’t need them, but on the other hand, I know how….fickle people can be in todays day and age. So I kinda see both sides.

(Mods, if this is the wrong place for this post, I apologize, and if you could please direct me where this post would be more appropriate, I appreciate it.)

That the Doctor would just up and abandon them. It feels super out of character, and happens just to force drama.

Hey all. About 50 pages in to Skysworn right now, and the renewed focus on Ozriel’s disappearance, immediately cut to a focus on Eithan’s abilities to apparently get into places that no true Underlord should be able to reach implies a level of power FAR exceeding his current stated rank. Add that to the fact that >!The Arelius are apparently descendants of Ozriel.!<

It’s the perfect place to hide.

What are everyone’s opinions? On rewatch, it’s not really as epic as I remember. I feel like it’s…fine, but I see a lot of missed opportunity with it. There are a lot of moments that feel like they went to tumblr and picked out the most popular Doctor Who memes and made scenes out of them.

…did they not foreshadow John Hurt’s War Doctor more? There are SEVERAL instances where the Doctor talks about regeneration as if he has more faces available, and he talks about regeneration with the Cyberiad, and there’s no mention of the extra face. It feels like it comes out of nowhere.

I mean I guess it all gets wrapped up anyway in the Name/Day/Time of the Doctor trilogy (which I kinda consider all one thing anyway)

I feel like the 15th Doctor having a consistent outfit would have gone a long way with cementing his identity. I think keeping the long orange leather trench coat would have helped more than people realize. The Doctor’s look plays a lot more into conveying their character than I think people realize. I think the constant switching outfits definitely hurt more than it helped.

Hey all! Do you ever think we’ll see the Weeping Angels’ true form? Like the form they have when they aren’t frozen in rock? I think it would be a foolish decision, but then again I also thought showing the Midnight entity would be stupid, and that happened, so do you think they’d ever get so creatively stumped with the angels that they’d show their true form?

Super random post here, but last night, I had a dream that during Tron: Ares, Julian Dillinger was feeling down and frustrated about himself, so as a cope, he calls Sam Flynn to gloat and make himself feel better, but Sam has a special program, that if any of the Dillingers call him, his phone automatically answers with a voicemail message of Sam acting like Kevin Flynn’s “zen” personality, just to troll the Dillingers.

Man, I wish Ares made money. We are never getting Tron 4 and a return of the Legacy aesthetic are we?

Hey all, on a Series 6 rewatch, and I’m liking it a lot more than I used to. I know it doesn’t have a great reputation in the community, at least from what I remember in discussions past. Why is that? It seems great so far!

I’ve always found series 7 split to be pretty jarring narratively and aesthetically. New companion halfway through? new opening titles? New Tardis interior? New outfit for the Doctor? Just feels like all the changes for a new season or new Doctor, and putting it halfway through a series just feels strange. Any idea why they did this?

The Doctor takes Vincent to the museum…damn, it just WRECKS me every time.

Hey all! On volume 3, and man, this series is REALLY starting to click with me in this volume! I feel like Will is really starting to clear up his power system, and flesh out his characters more, and I’m HOOKED.

I’m also very unsure of Eithan. He’s giving me some serious Satoru Gojo vibes for those of you who are JJK fans. He’s flippant, laid back, but has moments where when he locks in, bad things happen to those who cross him. It’s almost…sinister? I’m excited to see where he goes.

Hey all! Just wanted to see if you guys also felt the transition from the RTD to Moffat eras of the show to be very…jarring? I feel like Moffat to Chibnall wasn’t nearly as jarring of a tonal and visual shift, but the jump from season 4/specials to season 5, from the new intro and logo, to very different cinematography, almost feels like a different show.

What do you guys think?

Who is the old woman that appears to Wilf and then to the Doctor with the Time Lords?? Is it ever explained in other media who she’s supposed to be??

Hey all! Me again! Sorry I keep spamming the sub. My brain just is full of thoughts and ideas on my rewatch. Anyway, just watched through the specials…got me thinking. What’s the consensus on the whole Time Lord Victorious angle that RTD took with 10, post-season 4, during the specials era? I have mixed feelings on it (I know it was expounded upon in a multimedia story, but I can’t be bothered to research it).

On one hand, I guess it kind of makes sense, considering what happens at the end of season 4, but on the other, the series had done the whole “the Doctor kinda becomes a dick/monster when he travels alone for too long” shtick a few times already by this point, and to me it just felt like an over dramatic retread of the same ground. It makes the end of time seem all the more tacked on and tedious.

Just finished the Stolen Earth, and I am always struck by how powerful the scene of the Tardis towing the Earth is. With the Ood song of Freedom playing while all the companions fly the Tardis together. Gives me chills every time.

So I’m on Stolen Earth/Journey’s End and I had a thought.

The fake-out regeneration.

I don’t know about you guys, but I really don’t like this plot point. It feels like a cop out.

I also feel like the finale leaves things on a…strange note. And I’ll be honest, I REALLY don’t like The End of Time. It feels like a weird anticlimactic Coda, after the farewell to all the companions in journey’s end.

So here’s my thought. What if, we ignore the Doctor Donna nonsense, and actually have her die, like predicted, then make 10’s regeneration at the end of Stolen Earth a real one, and make Matt Smith the star of Journey’s End. Have him say farewell to his companions, and then set off on his own, leading into The Eleventh Hour

Man, this is a SLEPT ON episode. I love the character work, truly superb acting by all players. I love just how TERRIFIED the 10th Doctor is when interacting with the copycat lifeform.
