[Longines Conquest V.H.P.]

Picked up one of these Conquest V.H.P. in the 36mm size, silver dial. I love Longines watches as simple, understated luxury. Wanted a good silver dial quartz that doesn’t break the bank and that I can travel with, wear while performing fieldwork, camping, etc.

Anyone have experience with these? My understanding is that the battery lasts for a reasonable amount of time, but I’m curious how much the battery saving mode actually prolongs battery life.

P.S. Kudos to anyone else who has a shared appreciation for fine watches and vintage guitars. Both perfectly-designed tools.

‘65 Stagehand

My 1965 Jazzmaster sitting pretty onstage before a show. It’s been a gradual process of becoming comfortable gigging this guitar in the few years I’ve owned it now, but there’s no other guitar I’d rather be playing.

Some other very cool vintage guitars in the background.

Anyone else have a vintage JM that you gig with regularly?

Lugs not lugging

Feel free to shame me for overthinking this one, I’ve just gotten mixed input on how urgent of a repair this is. As far as I can tell, the shop I was at last way over-torqued the lugs after a tire rotation. Walked out to the vehicle yesterday morning to find one of them completely missing, as the lug stud had actually snapped off halfway down. Checked the others and they were way tighter than Toyota spec.

I will be getting it fixed soon, but would just like to ensure I’m not running the risk of the wheel evacuating itself while driving at highway speeds, in the meantime. I have seen video of that happening when someone was missing a lug nut, but I’d be planning to check the torque on the remaining lugs before driving.

4R Doing Work

Sorry for the poor lighting, but absolutely love how this thing is the perfect vehicle for my buddies and my adventures. For most of my uses, it has been the ultimate fishing and camping rig. Rock solid reliable.

Tight lines to those of you getting after the trout season!

Rear spring replacement for 5th Gen

Hey all, I’ve been debating how deep I want to dive into the rabbit hole of suspension upgrades, and after several camping/hiking/fishing trips already this summer, I think I know where I’d like to start. For context, I am not one to jump for upgrades that aren’t essential or practical for my needs.

Basically, I think I’d like to replace my rear springs only for a little extra stiffness/maybe 1-1.5” of rear lift. This would be to accommodate for the rear end sagging under the load of my gear for a typical trip. The sag isn’t terrible, but it’s noticeable enough to bother me a bit.

Does anyone see any issues with doing a moderate rear spring upgrade while leaving the rest of my stock SR5 suspension alone for now (it still work fine for my uses and is not leaking or damaged). How much extra spring height could I go for without sacrificing suspension performance? I’m not looking for an obnoxious rake; just a bit of a better level when riding under a load. Lastly, any recommendation of a spring set that will fit these needs is much appreciated. Thanks!

Opinions on current popular dupes (Alt fragrances)

Creed’s Green Irish Tweed (GIT) has been my favorite spring-summer fragrance ever since I first discovered it by purchasing a travel spray. I had a lineup of choices for fall through winter, but had a tough time setting on a go-to scent for the warmer months before GIT. Bought a 100ml bottle from a discounter and wear it for most occasions and to the office this time of year.

Even at a discount, the stuff is obviously spendy. I wanted to try to conserve the real stuff for more specific uses, so I ordered a bottle of Mohair parfum from the Alt brand that advertises heavily online these days. This is the parfum concentration of their take on GIT, which appears pretty well-rated in online and video reviews.

Having worn GIT regularly for some time now, I feel that, with the enormous cost difference, the Alt option gets pretty close. I’m not going to say it’s “90% the same” as many have, because to my nose, it absolutely does not capture the insane herbal complexity that GIT has on opening. Where it does catch up is that it is pretty similar to GIT once it’s dried down for a bit. Still a good close alternative and nice to have as a cheaper option for daily wear.

Anyone else tried the Alt line of dupes with familiarity to the original, and if so, which ones have you tried and how satisfied were you with their accuracy?
