This is harder than I thought

Mom to a 5 week old. Anybody else pretty much doing this alone? My husband went back to work last week and is gone for over 13 hours during the day so I’m alone with baby. My family is overseas so. My mil has come over one day but her “help” is her snuggling on the couch with baby I’m still feeding / changing diapers and it’s strictly on her terms when she comes over- she doesn’t work. She won’t even bring lunch / coffee. I’ve only asked her one time for help and it was to sit in the back of car with baby so I could drive to appt and her watch him. She was too “nauseous” to go 🙃. So blessed my baby is happy and healthy but this is incredibly hard doing it alone trying to stay on top of eating, breastfeeding , pumping, showering. My husband is a gem and takes baby as soon as he’s home so I can rest and decompress but it’s still very hard.

Supply gone down after starting to nurse

Hello, I have my 4 week old who was exclusively bottle fed pumped milk for the first 3 weeks because he was not interested in nursing. I just started to nurse him for almost all of his feeds except when my husband watches him overnight he gets a bottle. Well since I’ve started to nurse him I’ve noticed my supply has completely tanked and every time I pump now even if it’s the overnight pump where I haven’t nursed or pumped in 4 hours I’m only getting 1-2oz where before I was getting 5-6oz, sometimes even more. I’m kind of freaking out because that’s not enough to even get him thru one feed. I was finally feeling good about this whole breastfeeding thing now he was successfully nursing. Is this normal? What can I do? Any advice or tips appreciated

Mother in law postpartum

Well I’m a week postpartum and have had my mother in law visit twice. I don’t mind visitors at this point but she comes over and sits on the couch the entire time and just holds the baby. She shows up empty handed, has not offered help with anything around the house or anything we may need. The only thing she offered was to sit on the couch and hold the baby while I nap, which no, you’re not being alone with my less than a week old baby. It just makes me want to rage and although we really don’t need help with anything at this point I still feel like the gesture is appropriate. Am I overreacting ?!

Dealing with in laws postpartum , specifically mother in law?

I’m 34 weeks pregnant and already dreading dealing with my in laws post partum. They have been very controlling of my husband and his brother throughout their lives and became very obsessive when my brother in law had his son, they practically walk all over him, they have no respect for my sister in law and constantly voice their opinions on what they should do with their child.
One example is when they visit my in laws they have to time it to when the baby is going to take a nap so my mother in law can lay in bed with him and contact nap.

This boggles my mind, luckily my husband is way more stern with them and will simply not allow them to walk all over us the way they do with his brother. They mostly leave us alone but now we’re welcoming our first child I can already feel the possessive energy rising lol.

First she wants to be in the room when I give birth, we already said no. Now, she’s offering to come over and just hold the baby so I can sleep or shower. Am I the only one thinking that is not helpful at all and you just want your baby snuggles?! She did this to my brother & sister in law, sat on the couch with the baby all day and did not help them with anything. I am fortunate enough to be able to stay home with my baby until I feel comfortable going back to work and she has made comments like “you’re never going to let me watch him” she asked about the car seat base and said “there’s no point in me getting one though because you’re never going to let me take him anywhere” this is already pissing me off as the baby isn’t even here yet and she’s already being crazy. My husband will shut it down immediately but she likes to do it when he’s not around.

Anyway, give me your stories on what your in laws have done and how you’ve dealt with it postpartum?
