The girl and the sheep
There was once a girl who tended sheep. She loved the sheep, slept with the sheep, ate with the sheep, and lived with the sheep. she would hold her stick with pride, and proudly proclaim she was one with the sheep.
One day, a sheep approached her, and before the girl could greet him he struck her. The sheep, now a wolf , sunk his teeth into her thigh and drew first blood. When he removed his teeth, he simply transformed back into a sheep, heedless of her cries of pain, as he rejoined the flock.
But to the girl, he didn't rejoin the flock, the flock joined him. Now that wolf was every sheep, and she couldn't bear it. She threw down her stick, fled into the barn, and said she couldn't be with the sheep. She abandoned the shepard, fleeing the flock, as she wept.
The wolf went back to his fellow sheep, loved the sheep, slept with the sheep, ate with the sheep, and lived with the sheep.
Yet when the shepard arrived to the field, and found her far from the sheep in fear, he caned her. He beat her while praising the sheep, for they, even the wolf, stayed loyal to the shepard.
