What dish I can use coconut water in without tasting it?

I bought a coconut water for myself for the very first time and I hate the taste. But it wasn’t the cheapest and I don’t want to waste food. I tried to mix it with orange juice but that was foul too so I think smoothies wont work. I am also breastfeeding so I can’t do any cocktails with it either.
Are there any dishes that could use roughly 250-300ml of coconut water and the taste would be not so prominent? I think I would be asking for too much if it could retain the health benefits but if it was possible that would be awesome.

Restaurant with nearby parking place recommendations?

Hi there! Me and my partner are planning to go on a dinner date and we are little overwhelmed with all the options for eating out together. We have our usual 3 go-to places but we would like to try something new too.

The only problem now is that I am in very late pregnancy and it is very painful to walk longer distances due to health issues so we are looking for place that has a place to park a car up to 500m away from restaurant. We are open to all kinds of restaurants: steakhouse, german, italian, asian, burgers…. Do you have any favourites places?

Have anyone recovered from both PGP and C section after birth?

I am 37 week with planned second C section on 39th. For the whole pregnancy I am experiencing intense pain whenever I stand up, raise my legs (even while sitting) and getting out of bed feels like I need to learn how to walk again. I hear my joints cracking with movement and at this stage I can’t walk distances - even in my own house I am weak to be on my own. And it just occurred to me that IT MIGHT BE WORSE?

I didnt gave PGP (pelvic girdle pain or whatever else it could be, I dont have it diagnosed because doctors just said that this amount of pain and discomfort is normal) during first pregnancy but I did have to recover from C section and it was already very similar to how i already function.

And I am now terrified. What will happen after I have the surgery AND still have my joints extremely loose and painful? How will I learn to walk again and take care of my baby when I need to be careful with which muscles to use - I feel like all my muscles around hips and pelvis are weak and bones are loose? I am finding no information online, doctors dismiss the problem as nothing serious but I am getting very worried I will hurt myself or baby by accident.

Has anyone experienced it? I would love to hear an advice on how to get literally back on my feet haha

Why do some doctors require checking after 1 hour and others after 2 hours? Because I was never close to spiking after 2 hours but I did after 1

I am just curious at this point.
37 week, my GD is mild, if I do not eat straight up sugar or white bread in the morning I am good with most food. But I did have few spikes (when I accidentally received full sugar soda or my cravings for sweets were stronger than my will) reaching 168 the highest after 1 hour. But then when I checked after 1,5-2 hours it was back to 90s-100s.

Bear in mind that I do not really understand how GD works so I would love to hear other opinions. I only know it’s related to placenta. But I wonder if doesn’t everyone’s sugar jump into 160-170 after having something sweet? Isn’t the problem with the sugar staying high? Mine spikes after hour but goes down very quickly. Would I even be considered as having GD if I just had a different doctor?

Im giving birth in less than 2 weeks. I am going to stick to the diet but I still would love to understand how it all works.

I don’t know if I should call doctor or I will just bother them

I am writing in English as my German is not good enough to explain my situation, I am sorry :( …

35th week, second baby. I have persistent dry cough for 10 days at this point. It started as possible viral infection during heatwave, my throat was swollen and painful for a day and night and since then I am coughing abnormally to the point I am vomiting in mornings when they are the most violent. I also cannot sleep because if I lie down I cough more than breathe. Don’t even let me start on accidental leaking of urine with EVERY SINGLE cough. When I eat I often get into a minutes long coughing fit too that make me gag. I cannot hold conversations with people or talk to my older kid.

At this point I am noticing more things that happen due to cough. I am having painful migraines so I am eating paracetamol every time I can, my belly is hard every time I get a coughing fit which basically means its hard all the time. But what concerns me the most is that I feel less of baby movements in past day and half. Maybe it could be due to hard belly? I did feel hiccups yesterday but I heard they dont count as fetal movement…

I tried some home remedies (I have Gestational Diabetes so my options are limited) but it’s doing nothing. I didn’t get any medicine recommended.

I would go to doctor but problem is that I practically cannot leave the house. I cannot walk properly due to PGP, I have a 5yo who doesn’t speak English nor German and my husband left for a week for work and I know no-one here as we moved in relatively recently. I am considering to call 116 117 but I am scared they will dismiss me as every other doctor I seen so far about any issue I had (this is not first time I am sick in this pregnancy. I had sinus infection during first trimester that my doctor refused to treat and it “just passed” after 3 months of suffering)

I just don’t know what to do :( I am scared because it feels like nobody believes me (even my husband thought I am overreacting until I started to wake him up with the vomiting, that’s why it takes me so long to react as I do not know what to believe myself). I want to keep my baby safe, not to scare the older one and also dont want to waste some medical practicians their time on me if I am actually completely fine.

Today I made GD friendly jam!

Disclaimer: Take this recipe with a grain of salt as I am not professional cook nor health expert. It started as an experiment that happened to work out for me and I just want to share with you.

One food I miss the most are crepes. The other day I risked it with a store-bought ones and had them with sugar free protein pudding and sugar-free apple-sauce. It wasnt perfect cos 1. crepes from store are meh and 2. I miss jam. So today I made something from fruit I found in my freezer:

250-300g of blueberries or strawberries or cherries (i used all of them)
2-3 tbs of water
2 tbs of lemon or lime juice
1 tbs chia seeds
(tbh I mostly eye-balled the ingredients to get the right jam texture)

optional: dash of cinnamon

  1. Water in pot, toss frozen fruits in and cook until it melts. Depending on size of fruit it can take 5-20 minutes.
Once they are soft mash them with fork or blend with hand blender if you dont like chunks
  2. Add lemon, cinnamon and chia and cook for short time
  3. Pour into glass jar or whatever you mean to use (keep in mind the hot jam can shatter the glass if it’s poured too fast)

Remember: Since it doesn’t have sugar it won’t last long. I guess it should be eaten within a week? If you know better let me know

I think you can add the sweeteners or maybe even dates too but mine didn’t need it as frozen fruits are naturally sweeter than fresh. My picky 5yo also approved of the taste and now I have no excuse left to not make him crepes today hah

I am desperate, please what can I do to soothe my never-ending coughing

Before you suggest I should consult this with doctor I cannot elaborate on how much they do not care in the slightest. I talked to them and they say I just have to go with it cos in the end baby is not harmed.

I caught something at the end of last week. My throat was on fire, I was scared I have strep but the pain was gone next day. But since then I am having coughing fits that last whole minutes as my body is getting rid of mucus. My belly muscles hurts, vocal cords are sore and I am having such headache not even paracetamol is catching up on me.

Yet I cannot have anything to soothe it. All cough syrups are not allowed and even home remedies I am familiar with I am not allowed to use - I am talking about honey mostly.

So I am asking if you have any GD safe tips for how to minimise the coughing fits? I am at the point that I throw up in the mornings from how violent they are. I cannot talk to people cos I start coughing and I cant even move without my migraine going wild…

Being ill during pregnancy is next level of uncomfortable

First, my immune system is so weak that I don’t even have to leave the house and I catch something my husband most likely brings from work that absolutely doesn’t affect him because it is such minor virus a normal humans don’t get sick from.

Second, it takes AGES to recover. I still don’t know where I caught whatever gave me sinus infection in first few weeks but I didn’t get rid of it until I started second trimester. Now in 34th week I caught something again and I am feeling 10x worse cos my belly is huge, I have PGP and GD and its middle of summer heatwaves.

Doctors I have here either do not care or just tell me to have paracetamol and sleep it off. But I cannot. I am dreading sleep. Just the idea of me going to bed at this point sounds so uncomfortable and painful. I do have my head elevated but its doing nothing. I drink so much I keep going to toilet twice as often and I eat paracetamol on cooldown. Even my fist born is so nice that I can just put TV on and sleep while he watches / or naps with me but all I do is being wide awake with throbbing headache from constant coughing.

There are so many things I cannot wait to get my hands on once I push this baby out - and I would never guess one of them would be a cough syrups lol

——
Thank you for listening to my rant. I am actually excited for the baby’s arrival. I just have to release some emotion otherwise I would be mean to everyone around me which is not fair to them

I’ve been nothing but miserable this pregnancy

Week 33, almost at finish line (which is actually a C section so I will have to deal with recovery too) and I didn’t enjoy single moment of this pregnancy. It started with first 3 months constant sinus infection I couldn’t cure for ages…

Today I keep going to toilet every hour even at night, sweating nonstop and taking 2-3 showers every day because of the heat, untreated PGP (because my MALE doctor said it is normal to not be able to walk more than 2k steps a day from pain) and constant leg cramps throughout the nights.

And on top of that there is GD. Everything tastes disgusting. I cant see eggs or greek yoghurt anymore. Protein snacks are all awful at this point and anything that remotely makes me feel better spikes me. I am also losing money because the heat keeps damaging testing strips and there is no place in the house under 31 degree celsius. Should I put them into fridge at this point?

I want to give my kid a sibling but I am so done with having more pregnancies like this unless my husband carries the next one.

Are anyone else’s results significantly better in this heatwave than usually?

33rd week, so hot I practically hug our AC and going outside feels like self harm. Yet for past 3 days I haven’t go much above 100 after meals I would be in 110-120 range. And now I even had a dessert (lemon sponge) cos I was craving it so much and my sugar was 87 after hour. I retested and the result was pretty much same. What is going on? Shouldn’t the heat actually make GD unbearable?

Could my meter be heat damaged? I keep it in little case in a purse but I am not staying in heat for more than 10 minutes. But my fasting sugar is still same (85-90) so I don’t know if it really is damaged.

What nutritious easy to chew/swallow meals would you offer to 5yo with toothache?

My kid’s cavity filling fell out and while we are waiting for dentist appointment that can be either days up to month into future I would like to make him food that is easy to eat for him while providing enough nutrients. He has been on yoghurts and applesauce (or different fruit-purée) for a while but he needs more variety especially without added sugar as that will make it even worse.

I am thinking about soups, mashed potatoes with some shredded overcooked or mince meat, maybe overcooked pasta or rice.
But do you have idea for whole meals that are easy to consume without any chewing effort?
I do not really want to blend random normal dish and give him straw to drink it - noone would like that

How do I get rid off skin tags that appeared during 2nd trimester?

Basically the title.
I have roughly 10 of tiny dark moles/skin tags on my neck that haven’t been there before. I read it is a normal part of pregnancy, it is just that I have a little phobia of them and I can’t stand looking at them without feeling sick.
I am also scared I can accidentally rip them off with clothes and idk if that is true but I heard it can be bad? I am not even wearing necklaces for that reason.

I suppose I have to visit a dermatologist but do I have to wait till pregnancy is over or can have it done earlier?

Restaurant gave me full sugar drink instead of zero…

I am just venting out some angry feelings from today. I have very mild GD I can control with food. Especially during evenings I can have pretty much normal dinner and even small dessert and my readings are around 110 after hour. So with this confidence I went to local McDonalds and got what I usually do but still ate with some adjustments just to be safe (ditching one bun on burger, salad instead of fries and zero Sprite instead of normal + chicken wings for protein but I didnt end up eating them because of what happened).

Almost every piece of order came in wrong for me and partner. BBQ sauce in my regular Big Tasty, medium fries, more wings than nuggets for my partner ordered and different sauces for him. The place looked understaffed and with a lot of people so I guessed they run out of some options but as I was eating my deconstructed burger I noticed that the drink didnt taste like medicine - which only meant it was full sugar one. Which scared me because I drank half of the cup (and I ordered small but got big version too… normally I wouldn’t complain but this time it was not great surprise).

We went home immediately after I found out, I did some exercises and chugged water and my reading after hour was 166. The highest it ever was in whole pregnancy.

For me it is just an inconvenience. I know one time thing doesnt harm baby, that it wasn’t fully my fault and that tomorrow I will start over and can do better. But I am terrified of how the staff doesn’t care about these things. I could overlook the bbq sauce (which I hate but okay) but one should never play with certain dietary options - such as zero sugar, lactose-free or caffein-free. I am just angry but some people could be hurt on more serious level.

How does public transport work in Paderborn?

Hi all! Maybe a silly question but where I come from every town has different system in how buses work and I do not want to be found in a situation when I will not know what to do once I get on a bus to town. Especially since my german is not the best yet (I can read it but hearing it is much harder for me to understand)

So far I’ve been traveling by car but my partner is leaving with it for a while and I have doctor appointments to go to on my own. All within Paderborn.

Do I have to make a special “city-bus card” (it is a thing in my country)? Or am I good with paying with normal card (like Revolut) or is it cash only? Or is there app or ticket machine?

Are there also some rules about seating? I am in late pregnancy stage and I need to sit because of pain.

While we are at it I will have to use bus once the baby is born as well. How does that work too? Do I enter with middle doors if I have the pram? Do I pay for both of us or just me?

Thank you very much for any advice. I really have noone else to ask
