Will CAL FIRE ever reevaluate their wildland firefighting strategies?

After learning a little bit about forestry and resource management CAL FIRE’s policy of keeping 95% of fires at 10 acres or less seems kinda counterproductive. I’m relatively new to wildland firefighting, but having spent some time around both Feds and CAL FIRE it seems there is a lot of animosity toward each other’s incident management and strategies.

I understand that there is a difference in coverage responsibility, with the feds covering generally less populated areas. This lends itself to letting low intensity fires burn longer to properly manage forests and other vegetation. However, CAL FIRE’s “selling point” and also their biggest critique is their initial attack capabilities/strategy. Sending as many resources as they can to an incident before it has any chance of growing. This is obviously great for when lives or property is threatened but seems out of place for many remote low-intensity fires.

What is preventing CAL FIRE from adopting a more prevention focused plan, increasing prescribed burns, utilizing modified containment and increasing funding to vegetation management programs?

BTW I’m not talking bad about CAL FIRE I’m just curious about why these policies were chosen

Smoothest/flattest shooting 9mm on the roster (2026)

Curious what your opinion for the best full-size 9mm on the roster is for target shooting and/or competition. No budget in mind just interested in developing a list for those interested in finding something new in 2026.

Based on my research in no particular order:

Staccato HD P4 (probably the best but also ~3k)
Sig Sauer P226
Berreta PX4 Storm
Berreta 92FS
Springfield Echelon 4.5F (and 4.5F Comp)
Sig Sauer P320 X5 Legion
HK VP9
S&W MP 2.0
Springfield 9mm 1911 Target Loaded

I’m personally leaning towards an Echelon 4.5F Comp with 1911 style grip module (Like a budget 2011 lol)

Disappointed with my experience - what should I do?

Scorpion Evo .22lr Carbine

I came back from vacation and was checking on my guns so I could take them out for a day at the range. I noticed there was salt buildup and corrosion behind the extractor, on the back of the bolt and on the face as well. The pictures are after I had removed most of the salt buildup.

I had taken my gun shooting a week prior and had not cleaned it (which is not a good habit I know, but I’ve never had this issue). I leave my guns muzzle up and it looks like the corrosion started at the extractor and dripped down onto the back of the bolt. I thought maybe a culprit could be me using red n’ tacky but I got it specifically because it was recommended on this sub. The ammo I was shooting was regular Winchester target ammo. And I don’t live near the ocean or anything like that.

I’m honestly confused on what’s going on and kinda frustrated with the performance of the scorpion. For how much I paid, it’s not a great feeling seeing the bolt start chipping, paint flaking and metal corroding.

Should I contact CZ about the warranty for the bolt? The only issue with that is I instilled the HBI trigger spring kit.
