I know i can show him items and i tried to put him around the animals and The Dig sit, but he Just go back home alone :(

I heard about the hybrid plant mechanic and the seed-making machine, but the fact that farm upgrades are so expensive makes me nervous, especially since the most Gold I've earned is 10,000 selling items to Vans. The only upgrade I've gotten so far in Year 1 is the pond. Should I be so worried about making money in this game?
